Need to remove Valve Body from 47RE trans
I had never even dropped a pan before I did it to install a shift kit. As stated above keep it clean and take your time and basic mechanics will get you through it . I would loosen the screws and drop it slightly the night before because it will drip forever. Also make sure you have enough ATF. It will take more than just a regular pan drop and filter change.1 point

TRANS SHOPS IN S.E. PA
1 pointTodd's a good guy. So is CK transmission in Cocalico, and I have nothing but good to say about Transmissions by Arbogast in Sinking Spring as well. He built up my Powerstroke trans for me years ago and installed in less than a week for less$$ than an OEM rebuild alone. Steve's Transmissions in Myerstown is also good. That's all I have experience with.1 point

Another VP44 Question
1 pointMy fuel boss has no issues keeping rock solid pressure. If you are having that big of a drop at idle I would get on the horn with Rich at Glacier. You may have a regulator issue of some sort. Might also want to peek at your filter and make sure it's not fouled.1 point

1993 Pace Enclosed Trailer... recent aquisition
Wife departed on a trip this morning, this trailer in tow. I watched from the window as she checked the lights before launch. I like the way the double tail lights look... nice & bright with brakes. I could verify the tell tale side lights when she checked the turn signals too. Nit-Picky, I know, but pleased with the result.1 point

Teardown and Rebuild
1 pointIt is truly hard to knock a Duramax as they are very good engine, I am more of an old inline diesel guy myself, if not for that I would not be looking away from a d-max.1 point

Need to remove Valve Body from 47RE trans
Removing the VB is pretty easy if you have basic mechanical skills. I say go for it. Biggest thing to remember is to keep it clean. I always power wash under the truck whenver I'm opening up a trans because I gaurantee you'll bump a crossmember or framerail and knock a chunk of dirt into the trans pan you just cleaned out.1 point

Additional oil and fuel filtering on a 3rd gen
Sorry; I cannot type this with a straight face.......................as I'm laughing to hard But I was thinking 180* opposite of you.................to use your set up, AFTER running the TP has been used as a bypass filter!!!!! Hemmoroids; what hemmoroids1 point

Looks good W&F..................but I still have an affection for the "butt-wipe" bypass filters. If I don't use it for the truck, it goes to the "head"!!!1 point

Teardown and Rebuild
1 pointMy 3rd gen 05 CR has been a fraction the cost of my 02 24v to drive and maintain. Not nearly as many upgrades needed to keep them driving nice. Lots heavier frame, tighter body with less creaks and groans, heavier drive train, interior is a wash. Ease of maintenance I think is easier too. Less quirks overall. As far as the 5.9 overhaul they all would be a wash, the new 6.7 would be higher and labor would be more as well due to the extra emissions equipment and such.1 point
