need some thoughts on smarty.
All the sub levels are stock catcher settings. The pod is at 99. When I checked smart site it's set for 03-07. I see no option for an 04.5-07 or 03-04. However it is a used one. I reflashed it with the latest revo from smarty. I'm thinking it's a fuel issue. It's been raining here for a few days now, I'll change filters when it stops.

need some thoughts on smarty.
I have just aquired a S06POD. i programed my 04. to software 3. drove it a few miles. not much of a differnace. not what i was expecting anyhow. then went to sw9. now down low i see very little differance, but mid throttle it jumps and runs nice. I'm compairing this to my older 02. i had an edge comp on that one. and lemme tell you, when you load the skinny peddle it'd set you back in the seat, it pulled hard. this truck even on 9 i don't feel pulls all that hard. i get very little black smoke. i have not adjusted my waste gate. as i have yet to learn how (pointers welcome). before i get flamed to much, i do not have gauges as of yet. i do not know what my rail pressure is. i'm most certain my EGT's are not high as i'm not getting the balck cloud. i have not ran it hard for long distances just in case the EGT's are on the high side. does it seem like it's working right? or is something wrong with my truck? no codes, thoughts please.

Motor Oil's cuss and discuss
i think as long as it's rated for diesel engines one would be ok. unless doing the extended drains. dirty oil is bad. Ive heard of people getting oil designed for older (1930-50's) in the modern engines and ruining them. like not enough zink for the cam followers. oil designed for regular gas engines not unleaded.

spin on trans filter
sorry ive been gone a while. my thought was to rid the use of the inside filter. disconnect trans line and have one suck new fluid in and the other push old out. i know dropping the pan isn't hard. i've done many of them. it was just a thought keep things cleaner like the allison has. thank you all for the info. i'ma have to learn how to adjust the bands though....

Most important gauge?
white face black lettering or the EV2's? im not a fan of the sensor gauges like my old glowshift ones. loved teh gauge look. but the sensors were junk. thank you SOO much for the pics. i'm a big fan of the autometer ultra-lite not the ultra'lite 2's.
-
Most important gauge?
with the three on the dash, do you have to cut a hole in the dash for wiring? i'm not sure i wana cut mine.
-
Most important gauge?
i'm in the same predicament right now. i'm thinking three gauge pod in the dash cubby hole. i know EGT, trans temp, maybe boost. far as i can tell Genos is best place for them. unless you kind folks know of better place to shop.

misunderstanding of depression and related problems.
sorry for you're loss.

misunderstanding of depression and related problems.
I have to say something, in regards to Robin Willams suicide. People ask how could someone so bright and happy with a nice life, family, kids, etc someone that on the outside has it all, ever want to end it all. The majority of the population have not the faintest idea what the struggles of depression and the thought of suicide have on the human brain and thought process. Having had many of these struggles in the past and still on occasion today I know full well what some of the reasoning is. Hurt. He very may well have wanted to stop hurting his loved ones. People that struggle with addiction and depression don't want to hurt the ones that care about them. They get clean, go to rehab, then relapse, do more coke, more alcohol. In turn hurting the ones around them that love them. Some see suicide as a way to end the pain for others. Yeah they will hurt for a while, but then the pain subsides, and one wouldn't be able to hurt them any more year after year. This line of thought is called my most as irrational. However to the depressed and struggling. It's perfectly rational. The thought “I won't be able to let them down any more” or “ I can't continue to hurt them when I'm gone.”

i'm not sure the state of the TRE's, they were the "upgraded" ones dodge offered, that were also defective. the dealership replaced the whole tierod, the long bar that goes to each spindle. and both TRE's and did an alignment. sadly the new ones do not have zerks as well. truck has just shy of 200 K 196xxx. it was covered form a recall. the old one still had a good amount of grease under the cup. they would not let me have the old part, stating they needed to send them back to Chrysler. i was not seized. just broke. half way up the stud.

Thank you MnTom, i did file a complaint. and pending what the dealership tell me tomorrow will depend the pressure i put on Chrysler. had it broke while i was headed down the freeway with a loaded 5th wheel and had my kids in the truck, the lawsuits would be astronomical. i'm really surprised they haven't made this a mandatory and do not drive the truck... boggles my brain. i was never informed of the recall until mine broke, then i started searching. i've seen them get loose, but never break. wow... anyhow thank you all for the replies.

so your saying that dodge know these things are pron to breaking and not having a mandatory recall? what if i was runnin 70 down the freeway when it let go? lawsuit? does the NHTSA even know of this issue.? i've seen and read hundreds of posts online about it. off to write them a letter. thanks for the info.

Motor Oil's cuss and discuss
wow 84K on one oil change.. awesome. i stick with Valvoline. and the thought that dirty oil is what wears out the engine. carbon, the stuff that turn the oil black, is what diamonds are made from. my theory is that dirty oil is like sand paper. so i change mine 7500K or there abouts with Valvoline. i use the best filter i can get from a local "truck shop" fleetguard of number i forget. i'm going to order the LF9028 here in a week or two., My wifes Civic uses the 0-20 stuff i tried the Honda brand, valvoline, Mobil 1, next is castrol GTX. honda oils gave her 28 mpg average, vavloline was 32, mobile 1 is 33, those MPG are several tanks for the life of the oil. her car tells here when to change it as well. best one was mobile 1 at 8900 miles worst was Honda at 6700 n some change. her 2012 has 86K on it. we go through some fuel and oil. on the older engines right before a change i add some ATF for a few 100 miles. it's highly detergent and will clean the insides out great. learned that from my grandpa. 95 years old and never had an engine let go on him. built several race engines. i trusted him. after tearing a SB 289 down for an over haul at 500K it was still very clean inside.

Local dealership said I'm sol, truck is out of warranty, I stated that it's a tsb, he told me to call Chrysler. They I turn td me the local dealership needed to have it towed. I told them what the dealership said. Poor lady said sorry but there was nothing she could do.- Under warranty
Backing into a parking spot I heard a clunk. After looking around I see the tierod hanging down. I was just traveling 70 mph not 1/2 mile before this happened. Not in a good mood. I can not afford this type of brake down right now, my OCD won't let me just replace the broken one, I'll have to do them all. How n why this broke I haven't a clue. It's a totally stock truck no oversized tires no real off road driving maybe a few miles on a gravel road a few times a year.- Deer Meets Porsche At Full Speed
be glad it wasnt and elk. i've watched semi broadside an elk. what a mess. i've had deer run into the passenger door on my old jeep scared us both.- short bed fifth wheel towing?
are you getting a quad cab or mega cab? as the frame lengths are close. you can tow a fifth wheel witha short box. i have a superglide (automatic sliding) hitch. and i towed several 5er's with it. on the wider trailers you have to pay attention when turning but still very doable. i upgraded trucks as well. i ended up with a qclb so i pined my slider forward as i no longer need it's sliding feature. with my old shortbox truck. no issues at all. just pay attention. this is my setup now. - Under warranty
