  1. seems the BFG at's are both rated at 3195. one at 80 psi one at 65. why not run the D rated? they hold the same load. what am i missing.? i know when loaded with my 5er i don't see tire squish even only at 65 PSI. i did air up to 80 but felt i didn't need to.
  2. wasn't there some one that ran the ring with balls in it? balancing rings or something like that? i know i've read it somewhere. same idea as this. they balance really well. i know on my old Jeep with 44 swamper boggers i'd run antifreeze it in that was about the best i found back in the day.
  3. i'd take it to frys automotive in flagstaff. best diesel shop i've heard of in AZ. may be time for an upgrade trade it in.
  4. when my dad and grandpa used to store the jeep 304 v8 we wold cork the engine. fill it with oil to the top. take plugs out fill cylinders up. granted i know you can't do this on a diesel to easily. but the idea cold be modified to work.
  5. would have to agree with Hex0rz. that one looks to be the best urethane based. most of the off the shelf versions are junk.
  6. i understand the ATF to a degree. but idk how it would work on diesel. i know my grandpa used to add some to his gas trucks to help clean the fuel system. and then about 250 miles before an oil change he'd add some to the crank oil as well. not sure it would hurt diesel to much, might lower the lubricity some.
  7. not sure on the JWA but with the older COMP level 5 turned into 6 and it just kept fueling past 3000 rpm.
  8. agreed. but without knowing my RP its kinda pointless to ask for help. truck runs an drives great. doesn't smoke. i do mean NO BLACK SMOKE. it will boil the tires if you drive it just right. but will not bubble black at all. so someday i'll get a edge insite to read RP. then go from there. http://youtu.be/GcSkE6fYCRw?list=UUVuwlr23wPbroviN_JfUDhQ

  10. my truck must be special. no matter the setting. my truck does not belch black.
  11. Mine on sw9 doesn't smoke at all.
  12. agreed dennhop. i've watched cables snap and cut arms off and cave in the roofs of trucks from the backlash. always use a blanket if steel wire rope, however the new synthetic ones you don't have to.
  13. i'm at $3.299 here and RUG is 2.779. http://www.arizonagasprices.com/index.aspx?fuel=D&area=Flagstaff
  14. i'm not sure to be honest. some one told me that the pod will still fuel 100 % down low i think it was. i would message AH64ID and see what his thoughts are or Biran @ smarty i think is the name. when you program your truck, when it asks to adjust options is when you change to the TQ, TM, RP settings. then choose a SW #. and your set.
  15. i'm not really the one to ask on that. i see very little difference in the different levels. yes you can make it more responsive. i don't think i feel much of a difference in the SW1 or SW3. maybe on a track or a dyno. this is one of the reasons i'm thinking i'm going to sell my smarty. as i don't really see the need to keep it. i'm going to try the settings AH64ID suggested and see if i get more MPG's, if not then itll be for sale. i found i like my truck on SW5, torque 3, timing 3, RP 0, those settings gave me 18 MPG's on average over the 10 or so tanks of fuel. and very responsive. but i wife hated driving the truck back from races. my truck stock has plenty of power to tow my 12K 5er. i don't use the POD.
  16. i never use the overhead, all my MPG's are hand calculated. although the over head is only ever off by 1 mpg. as for the tires being at 45. i was wearing the centers of the tires out faster at 50+ so 45 seems to be the ideal spot for these tires. Yes i air them up when towing. thanks for the Smarty info i'll go try it after this tank.
  17. i have an early 04 all stock. 265-70-17 goodyear wrengler tires at 45 PSI. i've driven with the smarty on about every level and adjustment i can think of. i have the best MPG with the stock ECM tuning. with the smarty i see 17 average between 15 tanks of fuel. on stock unprogrammed i see 20 on 13 tanks of fuel. i drive with a very very light foot. never exceed 70 mph. these are my finding at 7000 ft. in flagstaff AZ.
  18. i know someone with a 21 maxwell. might be willing to have it removed from the back yard. if anyone is interested i can ask...
  19. I think he was referring to it being a diesel. heck look how a 5.9 ina 3/4 ton works. anyhow, my wife an i are in the market for a new car. the 2012 civic is a GREAT car. it gets about 33 MPG every tank, we change the oil when the computer tells us to. depending on the brand is how long it goes for. usually in the 8-10 K range. we are looking at the Passat for the diesel option, Mazda has yet to come to market with theirs. the Chevy cruze isn't big enough for what we are after. i've been to the dodge dealership several times and they don't have any of these 1500 diesels on the lot and cant tell me when they can get one. the 4 door options is what i'm after. i would rather keep my money as much as i can in the US. however i know most of the truck is from Mexico Italy and Germany. we would have a Chevy cruze today if the eco model had rear seat cup holders, having kids this isn't an option. it's a must have.
  20. The smarty is the latest software. it is reproducible. i Just flashed and unflashed the truck again this morning. the SG reports -2.3/-0.8 on factory software and with the smarty it reads .0 Even driving, when let off and coasting down a hill it'll read in the Neg. i just thought it was reading vacuum. it is odd. but seeing how i'm not going to keep the smarty, i'm really not worried about it. one day i'll get real gauges and know whats reading what. I do thank you both for the input though.
  21. So i noticed something kinda odd today. when i removed my smarty programming from my truck the boost reading on my scangauge at idle goes to like -2.3. then i reprogrammed the smarty and it went to 0 at idle. thinking i was seeing things i redid the process. uninstalled it yet again and the boost reading went back to -2.3 or there abouts at idle. so what is the smarty doing? or do i have a sensor going bad.?
  22. i have a question, how would one go about changing said PS fluid? pull the line off and let it drain? or ???
  23. They have a listing for both rubber and plastic ones. The ones I got for my 04 are rubber molded. Not sure about the 02's... Best of luck.
