Teardown and Rebuild
heck while it's apart i'd have to re ring it. new mains and rod bearings as well. it'll freshen it up and is well worth the money and time spent doing so.

best front brake pads for the buck
i think of it in the respect that i'd rather replace rotors and pads and know the truck will stop then worry about saving a few dollars and wonder if it's going to stop. i downshift when i can. the kids and wife however are still learning the art.

New tire recommendations
i like cooper's made in the USA. the LTXMS2 are a GREAT tire and slightly cheeper then the bfg's. the cooper HT and HT2's are also GREAT tires. and alot more affordable if you rarely go off road in the mud, then the coopers is my choice. if you ever see decent mud then the Michelin or the ATP/AT3. win out.

New tire recommendations
having both the the cooper AT3's and the discount tire only ATP. i like the ATP better. i have the at3's on my toyota 31.10.50 and the atp's on my dodge in 285.70.17E the coopers are also made in usa. few weeks ago they were 680 a set with 70$ rebate debit card. can't beat that with a stick. i do like the coopers atp's. the at3's are noisier then the atp's in my application. now they are not bad by any means, but they are louder then the atp's. if your unhappy with the bfg's you might want to stray from the Michelin as they are the same company. totally different tread design however is all comes down to what you want. if you want MPG's and long tread life look into the LTX ms'2 and or the cooper HT. a closed shoulder tread design will yield better mpg's the transforce at's are great tire my sister loves hers on her 06 duramax. said to get 80+K out fo them. i'm not sure the size.

New tire recommendations
i love me some BFG's as i share the name. cooper has a 55K mile warranty. i have the cooper ATP from discount tire, with 20K on them they look new still, time will tell. my next set will me Michelin LTX MS/2 in your size.... http://www.michelinman.com/US/en/tires/265/75/16/123/R.html they have a 70K miles. My dad got 92K on a set with his Duramax. they do fine hunting and snow travel here in AZ. most excellent tire. with you only using 10% off road. i would jump on these.

new aluminum prop shaft.
from what i've been reading on forums, if i want a one piece shaft then 52123161AC is the one to get. but they all say mega dully, or 4 door dully, have yet to see one say 4 door long box, 48re, 11.5 rear axle. 4x4. does anyone here have any incite into these matters.?

Frantz Filter being removed.
I think with the mess and added frustration, I'll stick with normal filters, LF16035 or maybe splurge on a LF9028. Else it's not worth it.

Darn it, I deleted my truck from the garage!

to trade or not to trade.
i have an early 04 with 212K auto 4x4. it's runs like a new truck. has a few minor issues, hole in the seat, crack in center console. else it pristine truck. i've found an early 07 226K 6 speed manual. same truck 4door long box as mine. but in grey. it's 5K more then what i owe on my 04, i'm thinking in the terms of replacing the trans. it's almost a wash. i'd love a manual. So thoughts. both trucks are unmolested stock.

Frantz Filter being removed.
that's a good idea, kinda cept they might be used and to small, but the owner/cleaner of said units might be able to hook him up with a role to test. you know for scientific purposes.

Frantz Filter being removed.
i think i heard somewhere that the TP in the portajohns was the perfect fit for the franz... might be worth looking into. i may very well be wrong though.

Blackstone lab/ oil reports
WOW what a pissin match!! it matters not who chooses to use what testing company. if your choice is cheeper so be it. just smile and know your saving 10$ why start an argument for that? not very professional on both your parts i would be ashamed to of had that happen to on of my threads. MKy 04 shows high silicon as well. like 40 something. all my boots are tight. i'm thinking of changing away from the little BHAF. I too have leak tested mine and checked for boot issues and have found none. i run VPB 5-40 and LF 9028 filter.

Automakers to gearheads: Stop repairing cars
Someday they will outlaw driving in the name of "public safety". the sad part is a a large amount of people will demand it.

Automakers to gearheads: Stop repairing cars
it's same as the cell phone Rooting issue, i OWN the devise, and as such i can do with it as i please. i do no LEASE it like most do to Microsoft. when i own it i can and will modify it as i see fit. if they are going to require the dealer be used to work on vehicles then i'll require the service to be free for the life i own the vehicle. i really hate government. and uneducated people that don't stand up to them. off to a race.

what did i break?
