Would You Invest in My Truck or A Newer Truck
not something i would do. how different are the VP blocks vs the CR ones? cna you put the CR head on your block? but 7G for a broken truck? no way. maybe 3. then buy a long block for 4, just my .02 cents on the deal.

Would You Invest in My Truck or A Newer Truck
tank the monthly payment amount you would be spending and save it for 6 mo or a year. then see if your thoughts are different. me. i went to a 3rd gen and love it. but have to admit i miss my 02. the things your truck need are minor. if you desire to keep it for ever then sink the money into it. if you might want to sell in a few years then it doesn't make as much sense to do so. it's almost always cheaper to keep what ya got and fix it. above all don't put yourself in debt, why give the bankers more of your hard earned money. i pay cash for everything i own. everything is payed for. house, wifes car, toyota, my truck several dirt bikes, new commander max.. all payed cash. DEBT is BAD!!!!!! but alas you only live once.

Ball joints
they must be. thank you. i do usually like to shop local. in case of problems, i can return to a store for help. had that issue with my shocks. got from shock warehouse. and on started leaking. it was a major hassle getting a replacement. now i'll spend an extra 10-15 for in store service. Thank you for looking them up for me though.

Ball joints
one could take this one step further, take the jack stands past the wheels and make them square to each other and the rear rims. so behind the truck and in front would have the same measurements. then you can set the alignment this way as well. and this also works for cars that have IRS. i've used this for YEARS and it's always been great for me.

Ball joints
i know most here are talking about the second gens but here is what i'm gonna use. http://www.drivetrainamerica.com/74100001-dodge-ram-2500-3500-aam-9-25-solid-front-axle-ball-joint-kit-03-12/ my stock ones have 225K on them and just now the pass upper is getting play.

Ball joints
Up and down movement is NORMAL regardless of what the alignment shop tells you. it's the side to side play that is the issue. i've been looking at several options for new ball joints. XRF was recommended. and rebestose something or others was also recommended.

No Defrost?
Mine pops too, I got all the doors and installed them. You might be able to remove the fan and reach in and move one door. The floor vs defrost is the worse one to have to get to I think. When you take the radio bezel off you can see the servos and might be able to actuate the door from there. But it's doughtful. They all go through a power on self test. That's why you hear it pop.

wanting to move.
i used to do HVAC work with my dad, i think i still have 20-30# of R12. a vacuum pump are only about 200$ then as you well know o rings are cheep. a good set of gauges are only about 100$ unless you already have some for auto use. we both know how to find leaks. anyhow HVAC isnt as hard as most think is it. the diag on heat-pumps is however not fun. a bad relay and or pressure sensor can be difficult to diagnose. i charged my own house. and my Toyota.

i've wztched thd ROC Register of contractors shut jobs down and fine the workers just because the GC didn't have a sign posted who the contractor was. If im painting a house i have to be licensed and if i get nailed i have 90 days to get my license. heck just the application fee is $600. WTH is up with that. then the background check form DPS is another 350$ then once you have those done there the fee to actually get your license. it's CRAZY. a bond. yeah on a 1000$ in a CD then another 1000 for insurance and 200 month thereafter. Arizona is damn expensive...

wanting to move.
to start a business in AZ one has to be a licensed contractor. that'll be 2800$ before insurance. and my phone isnt ringing off the hook. i'm working on it. i really don't need full time work. only about 25-20 hours a week. Thanks you for the input. the bride and i will be thinking on this for some time to come.

wanting to move.
i'm flexible. i can do remodels. i can turn wrenches. i like cuttin firewood. i've been a roofer, painter. computer, auto mechanic, RV repair. i like the slower life style. we are home bodies. hardly ever go out not the party type. on birthdays i take her to Vegas. then once a year we go camping for a week in CO. i do have enough in savings to make the winter and layoff. i guess i'm just tired of Flagstaff. ready to move on. My Step dad passed away on Nov 18'th and i could care less for my biological dad. so i have ZERO reason to stay here. no family tying me here. i'll be getting a nice chunk of change from inheritance and also a nice monthly check from my trust. i just hate not working. i go crazy...
