12 Fuel psi idle 0 wot - Help
He said hammer down so I would assume rolling down the pavement. Let's wait and see shall we! Check his post he said that he ran down to the parts store and bought another one And no more of this secret stuff!!! I want to know NOW!! I have already gelled once this winter. I think I have worse luck than anyone else with fuel gelling

12 Fuel psi idle 0 wot - Help
First off you need to park the truck until you can get this issue figured out. Driving it is going to kill the VP. Can you post the brand and model of pump that you bought? How do you know the fass went out? What testing did you do to determine that? It is very rare for any of the fass pumps to quit working out of the blue. You need to run to the parts store and get a mechanical fuel pressure gauge to determine if the edge is actually reading correctly. Beyond that have you pulled the line off of the VP to see if you are getting good fuel directly at the pump? Maybe a clogged line, cut fuel line or something?? Welcome to the forum! There should be many more guys jumping in to help soon - You came to the right place

Miss at all RPMs
The "slug" or whatever it's called that goes in the injector hole I ordered from Star Products. They say it will work on the CR too, so at least I can use it on my brother's truck if need be. I went to Cummins today and the guy I talked to had the wrong part number. He looked up some sort of injection psi tool??? Come to find out Cummins doesn't even make it. I couldn't see spending 120 bucks on a snap-on one when this one was 49.70. I looked it up and people on other forums seem to have had good luck with it. As for the gauge I went with the one Mulcher suggested. It should be accurate enough to tell me if there is internal damage on any of the cylinders. Admittedly that probably wasn't my smartest move, but I did want to get a bigger set before the warranty was up. It only cost me 100 bucks to go from DAP 90s to DAT sac 125s. And I would have to say these injectors now are WAY better than the 90s.

Well I've got everything ordered and on the way to do the compression test. Once again I'm not going to have the injectors tested if I find something internally wrong. There is no point in getting them tested now if there is a cracked piston or burn valve. As I said before these injectors probably have 500-1000 miles on them

Transfer Case not allowing N or 4L
The transfer case is really easy to tear apart... I did it twice in one day because it didn't seal up the first time. I don't think it could have damaged anything very bad though. Just like grinding the gears on a manual trans it isn't good but I doubt you broke anything major

Miss at all RPMs
Since it is getting worse I'm pretty sure it is a cracked piston or valve or something internal that will cost way too much to fix! That's what happens when you don't look at the egt gauge I guess. If it is internal the truck will be parked until at least Christmas and possibly until spring depending on funds. College is eating my money like there's no tomorrow 30K + per year....

Miss at all RPMs
I like your thinking here, but if the solenoid were to be "messing up" I don't think it would only be on one cylinder. I would have more cylinders misfiring. Pop testing is free through DAP because they are under warranty, but I think my luck has run out. This misfire started VERY small and slight almost not able to notice over the summer and has slowly gotten worse. I got the egts really hot once messing around with my brother and I think that's what did it

Miss at all RPMs
I will be compression testing this coming Tuesday night (1 week from now) If the compression test comes back all good I WILL have the injectors sent out Wednesday morning. If I could stop driving it I would... But this is my DD and until next Tuesday there is nothing I can do but drive it and hope nothing gets destroyed.

Miss at all RPMs
Came back to the apartment today and was letting the turbo cool down when it went to a complete dead miss for 2-3 seconds. Shook the whole truck then went back to it's normal half miss. To me that sounds like fuel delivery not valve train or piston/ ring related

cummins surge
Give the APPS a reset to see if that clears it up. Do you have anything to take live data? If you do you would be able to see the voltage on the apps go crazy. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge and an aftermarket lift pump? What PSI are you running?

Straight Pipe Muffler
How can you tell it hurt performance? And how is the drone inside the cab as compared to the 3" straight pipe? I have a couple buddies with 4" straight pipes and just cruising down the road you can't talk to the guy next to you because of the loud drone! Maybe 3" is different though....

Miss at all RPMs
Hmmm I wonder how accurate it is given the price?? Thank you for the link! I may just end up getting it. What PSI should these engines be at?

Miss at all RPMs
I guess I'll give him another call tomorrow... I need this thing in by thanksgiving though whichever route I go. I plan to test compression and do a leak down test next Tuesday. If all comes back well internally what else could it be?? Is it possible the VP is screwed up? Just looking for thoughts to try if the pistons, rings, valves, and gasket are good. And how likely is a head gasket? I've hit 52-53 psi a couple times but I don't see any leaks around the sealing surface

Miss at all RPMs
I contacted him when this problem first started and he seemed pretty reluctant on me buying or borrowing it....

Miss at all RPMs
Cheapest place I found to buy the slug is Cummins Who would have thought! 56 bucks. Does anyone know were to get a good quality compression gauge for diesel engines? Not trying to break the bank either

Miss at all RPMs
I don't have any 8mm wrenches... So there was no way for me to loosen the right side injector hold down... And to re-torque them properly I had to have it off. And yes I used the valve cover bolt but thank you for the tip! There is nothing clogging any of the lines. I had them all off and cleaned the tips and blew them out. Talked to my performance guy... He is leaning toward a cracked exhaust valve, as is a friend of my dad's who owned his own trucking company for 20 years.

Miss at all RPMs
If you look back in the posts I said that #6 was 10-20 deg cooler than the rest.... which it may have been just because the engine was cold and 6 is on the back side of the engine. #1 has always been significantly cooler than the rest and continues to be. I think I will go ahead with the compression test to tell me if the internals are okay. If they are I am going to have to look at the VP, ECM or PCM. Any ideas Mopar Man? Does anyone on here have a compression tester they would let me borrow? I would pay shipping and some on top for letting me use it. I just don't want to go buy one of these to use once.

Miss at all RPMs
I called around ad couldn't find anyone to test the injectors for free, and everyone wants to take them apart. So I went ahead and switched #1 injector with #4 injector and it made no difference. #1 is still 177F while all others were 212-215F

Miss at all RPMs
This is my DD though... I can't have it down at any time. I think I am going to swap #1 and #3 injectors and see if the problem moves to the #3 cylinder. That would rule out the injectors. Could have been changing the crossover tubes.. If 6 wasn't seated and now it is, and 1 could not be seated I guess
-
Miss at all RPMs
True, but like stated when I first dropped these injectors in the miss was the EXACT same as it was with the old injectors. A new crossover tube helped lessen the miss, then I put these drilled out ones in and the miss did not change. This leads me to believe it is a fuel delivery issue, but I could be way off. I think I might give that a go tomorrow just to see if it helps. I didn't think the VP could stop pushing fuel to only one cylinder, at least that's what Mike said. As for cracked rings I guess it's possible but I don't have any blowby out of the valve cover

Miss at all RPMs
Alright I just went out and tested all cylinder temps when the engine was 85 deg. After about 1-1.5 minutes running, #1 was 135-140F I measured it all around the manifold right next to the head. I could keep my hand on it for quite a while without burning it. All other cylinders were 165-170 F. I Do you guys think that is conclusive enough to say #1 is my problem? Where do I go next? Swap injectors with #3?? I'm kinda lost at this point

Miss at all RPMs
I just got a video I think you can hear pretty well. Make sure your sound is all the way up! As you can tell it is NOT a completely dead cylinder but you can hear the "knock" I guess of it missing a bit
-
Miss at all RPMs
You think it could be injector related?? These things have maybe 500 miles on them and when I changed from the 90's to the 125 SAC's there wasn't any change at all with the miss.

Miss at all RPMs
Alright update here I want to know your thoughts. I picked up a set of crossover tubes from a guy for 50 bucks. They had been drilled to .093 and he said they worked great on his truck but he sold the truck and pulled the aftermarkets. I figured for 50 bucks I'm not losing much and at least I know none of the tubes are plugged. I pulled all of the injection lines, cleaned the ends with a scotchbrite pad and blew them out really well. I then pulled all 6 exhaust rockers and loosened up the injector hold downs. (Yes I kept the rockers in order 1-6) I then installed the crossover tubes and injection lines. I snugged each line then tightened the injector hold down for all 6. I then threw everything back together and got it running. I was out in 22 degree weather standing in the snow so it was pretty miserable. Well my miss is not gone.... I tried loosening each injector line and re tightening with no luck. Ok here's the twist to all of this! As I was driving home from my sisters birthday party tonight (Before installing the new tubes) it started to run smooth... but only for 4 or 5 seconds at a time then went back to missing. Now with the new tubes it was doing this on the high idle. It would miss for anywhere from 10 seconds to a minute then run smooth for 4 or 5 seconds. I finally got pissed enough and called it a night at midnight. What do you guys think it could be given these new symptoms? I still have the smarty on level 1 so I guess I can return everything to stock and see what it does. Oh and no codes and 20psi fuel pressure. Sorry about the ramble! Looking forward to hearing from everyone
