  1. .Ok, EXPLAIN to me HOW being UNION is against your right to protect yourself? I am a Union Pipefitter (retired due to disability). How does being Union put someone on government assistance? None of the Union members I know are on ANY assistance other than unemployment while waiting for their next call for work.
  2. Firefox does not look like any of the IE or Chrome versions I have seen.
  3. The line from the compressor to the condenser is a high pressure vapor line that can and does get so hot it will burn you (I have received blisters from it). The condenser will be the hottest on top and then be about ambient by about 2/3 to 3/4 of the the way to the bottom. Does the suction line get "beer can cold"? If the evaporator is dirty the suction line should actually get so cold it can ice up on the outside. You say you removed some refrigerant thinking it was over charged. How did it get over charged if the last time it was serviced was two years ago? It is possible that since you removed some refrigerant it may be under charged.
  4. The center of the hub between the bearings will be rough. The biggest thing is to get the bearings clean and look for rust, galling, etc. on the races and rollers (but you knew that). Since you are replacing the bearings you are ahead of that part. I really wonder what kind of 'grease' was used that you could melt with hot water. I certainly would not use that even in my wheelbarrow! Keep up the good work Russ! You will have a great trailer when you are done!!
  5. I agree about the orifice possibly plugging up. The condenser should get cooler the farther down you feel. If it seems to be the same temperature that means either the system is empty ( obviously not the case) or there is refrigerant backing up and staying in the condenser. However, another problem to consider is the evaporator plugging and not allowing the air to flow through the whole coil.
  6. Those symptoms point to a visit back to the place that rebuilt your transmission. The temp rise and the engine braking feeling are not normal. The tranny shop might want to hook up to the truck and watch the tranny to see what is going on.
  7. I kind of doubt it since the truck had 27K miles on it when I got it but you never know. The guy I bought it from lived a mile from his work. He drove it a mile up a hill in the morning and a mile down the hill in the evening. I also put new rings in it too.
  8. A lot of times you can put a "beefier" cam in and get better mileage! That is PROVIDED you keep your foot out of it...... I had a 1976 F150 with a 360 in it. I was getting 9 mpg. I put a cam in it and dual exhaust then the mileage went to 14 mpg.
  9. I know how that goes!!
  10. Wow, acetone won't cut it?? Holy CRAP!! That must be some real wicked stuff! I went to a local auto parts store for bearings and it would have cost me almost $40 PER SIDE! They would have had to order a couple of bearings so I declined their offer to order them. I went across the road (literally) and got a kit with bearings and seals for $25 so it pays to look around.
  11. My truck had Bilsteins on it when I got it way back in 2001 so I have no idea how old they are, but I can tell you the truck does not bounce like wore out shocks would let it!
  12. You are welcome, sir! Glad you got it together. Yep, the hoses are not the easiest, but you got it done!
  13. I may start looking around. Wonder how well a controller will work with my PCM due to the fact a 'normal' lock-up switch won't work?
  14. Because there is no dealer in my area that I would trust to touch my truck and besides, I am to cheap to pay them!! Every time I tried to ask a question about my truck the look that I got was " You want to do WHAT???" Not to many have the capability to deal with a 1996 PCM.
  15. You are welcome! Nice not to see all that crap all the time.
  16. Wonder what kind of 'lube' was used on them? Maybe try something 'stronger'? I have used gasoline and even white gas in a pinch. Did you try soaking it in diesel fuel?
  17. No need to apologize for bein' a Hillbilly! My family on my Dad's side are a bunch of 'em!
  18. Will, just click on the Firefox button and go to Add-ons From there you can search what you want and it is real easy to install them. I have BaJa Ad Blocker 1.1 DoNotTrackMe: 3.2.1083 Ads Removal 1.0.0 Those three keep just about everything off. Do Not Track Me will even tell you what is trying to track you on any page you go to.
  19. Oh, c'mon...... You have the opportunity to make it a real sleeper!!
  20. What browser are you running? I have FireFox and have several tracker blockers running and an ad blocker so I don't see 99% of that crap.
  21. Ported and polished??
  22. Exactly. That is why I am going to try to solve this myself. Also, keep in mind that my transmission is an 'early' model and the PCM needs a reflash to make a lock up switch work like most of the drawings say (such as http://www.tstproducts.com/Torque%20Converter%20Lockup%20Switch.pdf). I am probably going to need to get creative with it.......
  23. Yea, I need to figure out what to do. That is why I am wondering if I can trigger the trans relay and not get the PCM involved so I don't keep throwing it into limp. Not sure what I can do........yet.
  24. I would have some Moonshine in your honor, but I drank it..... Might have to have a couple of beers instead! Only 50 huh? Congrats!!
  25. Believe it or not, that is a price for a Pacbrake. You had to ask about lock up didn't you........ Well, I am not 100% sure what I am going to do about it, but since I don't have a stock transmission or converter, if I lock out O/D and manually shift the transmission, I get a good bit of engine braking. I am going to experiment with triggering the lock up relay and see what happens. I do know that if I put a lock up switch on by grounding the wire from the PCM it will just throw my tranny into limp.
