Anybody install a CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) kit on their Cummins?
I would go with propane due to the availability. I am running propane and it gives me a flat 5 mpg increase across the board. At 65 mph empty I am getting 25.5 mpg diesel, but when you factor in the propane it is still more economical. I have also seen up to 17+ mpg towing my fiver with it. Running empty I can go about 900 miles before I run out of fuel. Towing I have had to fill up once in 900 miles. This is the system I have: PROPANE SYSTEM The way I have mine set up is to come on at about 2psi and the more boost the more propane. I use about 20 gallons of propane per tank of fuel towing and about 10 empty. Also it does increase your power!

What size is the Dodge factory towing package?
The only reason I can think of is a CYA by the RV industry.

Yup!!

Wiring LED light bars into existing consol
That would be why I was thinking of a relay. The coil won't (shouldn't) be enough of a problem to worry about.

Can't be him...... No MULLET!!

Actually, the reason (in my book!) that RVs recommend a WD hitch is because people are trying to pull a trailer as big as or bigger than their Chevy Aztec or F150 can support and makes them squat so bad they are unsafe. The WD hitch gets them level for safer towing.

Tap it or leave it?
Why grade 8 stainless?

Wiring LED light bars into existing consol
Without really studying the wiring the first thing that comes to mind is a relay and a diode. Wire the relay into the high beam circuit to energize the 20" bar and the fogs with the diode in the power wire for the 20" bar. The reason for this is to have the fogs wired to the fog switch and the relay so that you can use them and not back feed the 20" bar. When the high beams are activated then the relay pulls in and turns on all the lights. Now, keep in mind that just about all states say there can be no more than four white lights shining on the front of the truck at one time so you may have a problem with both high beams, the fogs, and the bar on at the same time.

VP fuel pressure test gauge thumbs up!
Amazing how "expensive" the better tools are. That is what I keep trying to convince my wife. She still thinks a $29 set of 115 drill bits will drill through steel. She bought a set like that and I tried one in a piloted hole and all it did was make the bit smaller and didn't enlarge the hole!

stabilizer links, and steering box adustment
Dave, the adjustment is on the top of the gear box. Make sure you shut the truck off to adjust it (for safety's sake). I don't know about the DSS for a two wheel drive, but I know they make one. Another problem to consider is these trucks have a large span of numbers to be "with in spec" for alignment. I have had mine aligned four times in one year just trying to get somebody who knows how to align these trucks. The last place I went got it close, but I wound up straightening the steering wheel and also put a touch more caster in the left side so it would quit pulling to the right. It does drive better, but not as good as it could. I have not been able to get the numbers that the two wheel drives need to drive good. I do know that most shops don't put enough caster in to hold the road good.

Fuel gauge issues
I would just leave the wires hooked up and turn the key on and watch the gauge when the float us moved.

OMG! Truck suddenly lurches to right
Generally a tie rod won't make the truck jerk either direction. Normally they just wander quite a bit. Far as brakes, if a brake was dragging then it would be a steady pull the direction the brake is dragging, plus it would be noticeable by smell if it was that bad.I am thinking it is either wheel bearings or something in the front axle on the right side between the CAD and wheel.

200000 miles
I have been thinking about doing that or maybe something totally different with a Cummins in it.

OMG! Truck suddenly lurches to right
It just all the sudden dives for the right? How are the wheel bearings on that side? Hub running warm? Have you checked the lug nuts?

Loss of Acceleration (DEAD PEDAL?)
Your alternator is not the cause of the dead pedal. The P0216 tells me that your VP44 is having trouble with the timing piston meaning you are going to be replacing it. Not a matter of if, but a matter of when. The P1693 is a companion code meaning there is a code stored in the ECM or PCM and not much to worry about. Your dead pedal could also be from the APPS failing on your truck.

At the end of my rope (more)
So you are thinking the timer module is bad?

Ca smog and lift (tranfer) pump codes
They are complaining about an upgraded air filter? WOW...... Glad I live where I do. My truck would never make it out there.

Turbo and injectors improve mileage!
No, I think he got bit.

New 31.5 BHTS
Looks to me like you could drop the pin some but it is difficult to tell. How much clearance do you have between the box and trailer?

Looks to be a little nose high in your pics!

200000 miles
I looked at mine today. 278,933 miles. I stopped at a couple of body shops to see what it would cost me to repair the rust on both doors, the cab right behind the right door, and the lower part of the fenders. Two shops told me anywhere from $5000 to $7000!!!! I really don't think it is that bad!

Fuel gauge issues
Personally, I would lift the box to access the tank. Remove all the bolts except the rear most bolts (15mm socket) and three screws behind the fuel filler door. Then BLOCK the box up so it won't fall on you. Now you have access to the module. Unscrew the large plastic nut holding the module in. You can then move the float and watch the fuel gauge to see if it works. Then you install it making sure the float clears the side of the tank.

4th gear hunt back again
Yep, Dave the first year. The only 'problem' is that it being a first part of a new model I can't put a lock up switch like3 everybody else can. Yea, I do like the torque. The torque line on my dyno sheet is actually quite flat! I don't know if you can make out what is what, but the first time I dyno'd the truck had 299HP and 678TQ.

4th gear hunt back again
Your truck would handle my fiver real easily! I run ST tires on it and generally set the cruise at about 67 mph or so. Then I just sit and ride! Even with my boat on the back of the trailer I only have a gross weight of 17,160lbs according to my last weight slip.

Bought a trailer... Hope this wasn't a mistake...
You sound a lot like me. Cheap SOB and don't like to give up! Many years ago I was at a truck terminal in Denver for a company I used to drive for. Me and a couple of other drivers went to a bar that had some girls that dance. About a year later I was back there and went to the same establishment. Soon as I walked in one girl kept staring at me. Finally she walked over to me and said "I remember you!" I looked at her and said Oh yea? She said "Yea you were in here about a year ago" and I said yea, so why do you remember me? She said "You're that CHEAP SOB!" True story.......
