  1. Trust me, getting older sucks. Your mind says "You can do it!" and your body says "Wanna bet??".
  2. Mine do not have any spriings on them and they hold just fine.
  3. Have you actually checked the compressor? When it shuts off the pressures should get a lot closer to each other and there should be no strain on it. Is it possible that it is overcharged?
  4. That sounds like what happened to me yesterday. Surprising how fast the EGTs climb when a boot blows off! I don't know what mine went to for EGTs, but the pyrometer was pegged and it goes to 1450*!!
  5. Out of all those parts stores near Waco nobody has one? You may wind up getting one from the dealer there.
  6. That ain't one of your "shower stories" is it??
  7. You need to show me how you can attatch the Scotch pads to your dremel.
  8. You're welcome. Just don't forget the beer to go along with them.
  9. I leave mine on LP too, but I don't shut it off when I fuel up. Diesel fumes won't ignite and the chances of gasoline igniting while outside are just about 0% too. That's like the internet rumor of using a cell phone while pumping gas. Many years ago we used to pump gas with a cigarette in our mouth.
  10. You are correct. The only kind of 'chip' you can put in your truck are potatoe............
  11. I would recommend that you put two golf cart batteries in it. They are six volt and they are huge and really hold power.
  12. It could also be either a worn or bent shift fork too.
  13. Try this: Hoppe’s #9 gun cleaning solvent. I found that by searching the interwebs.
  14. I just googled the 6.0 mileage. All I can say is NOT GOOD. Google it and see for yourself.
  15. I can't say about the mileage, but way back when my truck was only 299 hp to the ground a guy I worked with had a 6.0. He was bragging about how it would tow his trailer. I told him to bring his trailer and I would bring mine to work and leave work together and head down a 3 mile long hill (6%). We would then turn around at the bottom of the hill and see who got back to the shop first. He replied "Well, my trailer is longer". His was 31' and mine was 28'. I said we can switch trailers. He absolutely refused to pull against my truck.
  16. Towing my fiver at 70 MPH I get at the most 10 MPG, 65 MPH nets me about 12 MPG, and 60 mph puts me at about 14 MPG. That is without the propane. The same holds true (speed kills mileage) on our empty trucks too. I personally would much rather be around a bunch of big trucks than a few four wheelers, but then again I used to drive big trucks and can predict (usually) what they are going to do.
  17. All states have laws regarding trailer weights and brakes. Some are as low as 1500 pounds (Idaho, Nevada). http://drivinglaws.aaa.com/laws/trailer-brakes/
  18. If you asked this question on a Ford or Chevy forum you would get answers like "Dodge sucks", but yet they are the first ones to brag about beating the Cummins. In my opinion (like a certain body orrifice, everyone has one and they all stink) the inline six is the way to go for towing. There is a reason big trucks run them, and the reason is torque. Exactly what are your plans for the new to you truck?
  19. So, what would be the fun in that Russ? If it ain't a PITA it ain't worth it. I think that is the motto of paces that build the trailers we tow.
  20. Funny how that works, eh? That is the proper way to tow. Don't worry about speed, just the pyrometer. What difference does it make if you can top a hill at 70 MPH if you burn a piston?
  21. OK, I have a question. It was reported that for the JB Weld all you needed was a enough to equal the size of a grain of rice. Are you completely blocking the passage or just part of it?
  22. Nope, you are doing good. You can go up to about 1250* and hold that without much problem, but over that and you risk melting pistons. I am like you, 1100* is high enough, although I had a boost leak and have seen 1400* but only for a few seconds.
  23. Running on 12 volts is OK for these fridges, but they do consume afair amount of power. If you are just driving you can shut the fridge off and it will go all day without a problem unless you open it up once in a while. I leave mine on auto and it will run on propane until I plug into shore power. Mine will only run on 12v if I manually switch it or if the propane runs out.
  24. I never understood HOW anyone can feel even remotely comfortable passing in a curve where you cannot see if it is safe.
