Florida Flood Insurance Rate Question?
As you may know from my posting here my wife and I are looking into buying an investment / vacation property in FL in the next year or so but I just came across this bit of news and wanted some input from someone who lives there now and what you know about it. If this is the way it is going to be this will change our plans for inter-coastal living in Florida lol. If you don't know about it maybe it will be an eye opener for you to share with others in your area. http://sayanythingbl...das-new-normal/ Thanks in advance I sent this message to all the Florida residents I know of in FL and the bottom response is from Johnfak just so everyone knows what is going on, I decided to make it a public topic so everyone knows about it.. Hey Bill Got this invite for personal conversation with Tracy. Wasn't clear if you were after something from me A lot of stuff is changing with regard to FLOOD .... and its hard to say exactly but looks like it will be backed by free market for around $4000 per year to insure up to $250k of building. Thats the basics but becomes more complex with other stuff like flood history and flood zone maps. Condos are different as well. You will request a flood insurance quote from the underwriting companies at time of offer for example .. Anyway - my wife is an agent in St Pete beach. If you want I can pass you her details - regardless of if St Pete is a potential target location - shed be glad to help a fellow MM1973 fellow. Thanks John this is the exact info I was looking for!

60K And Lots Of Issues All Of A Sudden!
That's what I am thinking and from the recent extreme temp changes could have played into it a bit too I hope. I did do a couple of start and shut off after moving it a couple times over the weekend as well without warming it up. I did do a change in oil weight too this last service, The 1500 hemi recommends 5w20 which is what I have been using but had some 0w30 I wanted to use up and the 2500 and 3500 Hemi's recommend a 30wt oil so it was all good, the only reason they don't on the 1500 is they claim it messes up the MDS which I didn't see any issue over my 7500 mile service interval. I switched back to the 5w20 again so with the temps and different oil weight might be playing into things............time will tell. Thing runs awesome and strong other than this.

60K And Lots Of Issues All Of A Sudden!
Both of the tranny filters are aftermarket filters from a parts house. Jag I know what your sayin, I am very particular so every little thing bugs the heck out of me and its even worse when I buy something different I nit pick the heck out of them. I only buy used and it has to have at least a years worth of full bumper to bumper warranty left for me to even consider buying a different rig so I can nit pick it. But I will monitor this one for a few more months and see what happens.

60K And Lots Of Issues All Of A Sudden!
I will replace the fan motor and find the under hood belt driven noise and deal with it. Then I need to monitor this engine start up smoke puff over then next service interval and see what happens or if it is using oil or not. The tranny I think I will drop the pan just to double check the filters if it keeps doing it over the next week or so now that it warmed up a bit, I have read about issues with other than OEM spin on filters coming loose or off all together. Thing was trouble free for 2 years and then bam everything hits at once.

60K And Lots Of Issues All Of A Sudden!
Did an end to end full service a couple weeks ago on my 2010 Dodge Hemi 1500 and today I started it and noticed a puff of blue smoke at initial start. The cab fan is sqealling like a bearing or brush is going bad, been progressively getting worse the last 6 months. Since I serviced the tranny I notice it is slow to built tranny pressure at initial startup and shift into gear. Wondering if the aftermarket filter came off or loose It has 2 internal filters the standard sump and a spin on TC filter on the cooler line with a cheesy plastic filter stud. If I put it in neutral for a few seconds before going into gear it is ok but let it idle for about 10 seconds in park and go into reverse it has a couple second lag before it is in gear, same with drive. This just started after the service. Then it sounds like i have an idler or one of the belt driven items making noise under the hood now too, all this developed within 2 weeks except for the fan. If things keep going this way this Hemi is going down the road real quick. The blue puff at start up and the laggy tranny both concern me. And of course no more warranty, only came with 3 year 36K.

Front/rear Axle Lube
This is what got me started on synthetics about 15+ years ago. It all started with gear lubes for me and went from there. On my 95 Dodge 1500 in the winter in sub zero temps parked on an incline, when I put it in reverse / auto and had to accel to upwards of 1200+ rpms to get it to roll because the gear lubes were that thick it felt like the park brake was on, let off the throttle and it stopped again, got me to thinking and I have not looked back. You take a standard 80-90 and a syn 80-90 and pull them hard for 50K miles with the Dino you will have to scrape the tar out of your diff cavity by then. If You think trannies get hot what do you think your working diff temps are with the same load and half the oil as your manual tranny? For the guy who uses it for a DD grocery getter and rarely works it if ever then it doesn't matter much, you wind up with what is in mikes pics above, condensation build up from lack of getting up to a decent temp to evaporate the condensation.

Newbie With Puking Brake Fluid
I can say from experience with a shovel many many times that the split second of pulling a lever and have instant 4X versus the several seconds of the CAD system to engage will determine if you are stuck or not. The electronic CAD on my 2010 sucks big time, better have it in 4X long before you think you will need it, not only is the CAD electronic but the T-case actuator is as well, average time to engage is about 5+ seconds........if your lucky. :banghead: Man is this thread derailed from a brake fluid leak,

Like?????? joints that never get used are just as prone to going bad from dried out seals causing rust, and vibration too as joints in constant use. Then take into account the maintenance of the entire vacuum system and the CAD itself and the non CAD is still an advantage. I see 2wd guys with no better mileage than 4X4 with CAD rigs.

One would think but AH64ID would like to have seen it from his.

Most I Can Get Out Of My Stock Turbo
Do the tranny upgrades first and then go with a BD super B and 75-90 hp injectors and have fun.........If you don't tow or work it hard you will be fine with no egt issues at all.

If the front wheels were on the ground with the t-case in neutral or 2wd if you could turn the drive shaft then you would have a CAD. If it had no CAD you would need to jack on wheel or the other off the ground to turn the driveshaft in neutral or 2wd position.

02 most likely has no CAD therefore it is a live front axle and the driveshaft will turn with the front axle. I know 02 was hit and miss with the CAD but most 02's don't have them. Not sure if his has it or not.

Which air bags for 2010 Dodge 1500?
I thought about it but there is nothing I could add that are different from all of the pics in the company link.s. The only pics that would have been different would be my air hose routing but they are tucked in so well I don't think pics would do any good. Sorry.

Most I Can Get Out Of My Stock Turbo
Not the special, just the Super B.

03-09 Dodge Tie Rod Recall
So it is not applicable to the recall? Why would they consider a clamp on stabilizer an "Upgrade", I have never been a fan of clamp on systems.
-
03-09 Dodge Tie Rod Recall
Mine is bolted through the steer linkage not clamped on.

Yep.........

03-09 Dodge Tie Rod Recall
HMM, wonder if I will get one for my 05. I bought it used with 26K on it in 08 so I don't know if the steering was changed prior to me owning it. Most recalls require an inspection to determine if it is needed, guess I just wait and see. I will never get tired of laughing at your GIF MC.

Which air bags for 2010 Dodge 1500?
Well an update, I decided to get the TLC air bag kit as they had a sale going on and I got in on the last day of it. Got the kit and installed it today, took about 1.5 counting getting it on the hoist to backed out the door, it took the longest trying to route the airlines in an out of the way, neat and trouble free way "I am kind of anal that way", it was a simple easy install. Now to figure out what to get for a gooseneck ball that is reasonable $ that is a flip over style and has a small in floor footprint like B&W but less expensive if there is one, if not a B&W it will be with the 4" extended shank ball.

Are You Going To Stand Firm?
Nope. what the Fed law is that if a firearm is "shipped" anywhere an FFL must ship and receive it. Crossing state lines is state to state regulated not fed. Like the gun I bought from a minn man we can cross lines with it no issue back and forth but the minn man has to "sell" it across state lines through an FFL only, within Minn he can sell person to person, ND can sell to whomever but if the purchaser's state law requires it through an FFL then that what has to be done.

Hex, have you ever looked into the John Birch society? You need to get active and participate and go to or organize local events and JBS is a great way of doing this. I have been a member for a few years and attend many local gatherings plus if you join you get a lot of news letters and a subscription to the New American magazine. JBS is the one organization in this country that has saved us from going off a cliff decades ago already. Well worth the time to read into it and join. http://www.jbs.org/ Posting on boards all day is ok but you need to get out into society and do one on one interventions and JBS has all the tools to do this. Go to your local gov meetings get involved with your local district conservative groups and become a delegate at a state convention, I was elected a state delegate for the ND republican party last election and it was a very educational experience. As a delegate YOU are the front line in choosing who goes on the ballot, YOU get to weed through the BS and talk one on one with the folks looking for the nominations. Once elected you are the go to person with all the power, I had many many hours of phone conversations from a lot of the people looking to get the nod from me the delegate. A lot of the people looking for nominations from the state delegations call you and ask questions about what you would like to see from them if elected and the fun part is you get to drill them on their stance on things as well. We can complain all day long but the seditary life we have lived over the last 30-40 years and the lack of involvement from the average Joe which starts at the local level is what got us here......................Walk away from your computer and get out into the action personally, getting elected a delegate is part luck and a lot of name recognition so by involving ones self in things locally to meet folks and get your name into the mix is the biggest factor in getting elected as a local district delegate. I stumped for Ron Paul last couple election. He is single handedly responsible for waking people up and exposing the corruption and getting the Grass roots folks involved again but we need to keep it rolling. Stand With Rand in 2016!

Good news is here in ND personal gun sales are huge and even at gun shows from private sellers. if buying from a business then you have to do the background paperwork but cash swapped for guns from private sellers at gun shows is still accepted without question here which is why I buy most from personal sales as well. actually have a huge gun show coming up in a week in Bismarck. Reasonj I got the one from the guy in Minn was it was an uncommon gun and the price was right, so I had to let one get on the books on occasion lol.

Minnesota liberals are making fairly strict gun laws, Living in ND I can't buy from a Minn resident person to person it has to be registered via going through an FFL as per Minn law. I bought one from a guy in Minn a year ago and had to go through an FFL in fargo to get it because he lived in Moorehead.
