2014 Deep Freeze
Yeah it is awesome, It gets the engine to operating temps of about 180-190 in under an hour, you can start the car at 20 below and have warm air out the heater instantly. I did have to remove the heater and fix the wiring where the cord hooks up inside and then had to replace the plug end on the cord, they used a crappy cord years ago, not sure if they sourced a better cord yet or not, is worth watching after a couple of years if you have issues. I thought the heater was shot but it was just crappy connections inside the unit, it has been flawless since, keep an eye on the hose clamps they tend to start weeping every so often as the hose relaxes under the clamps, after a few years of retightening them it finally stopped after about 4-5 years.

Got A Leak...and It's A Slow One.

If it were just a small crack you may have a chance but it appears to be split open way too far judging by the 3 spots it is clearly leaking from. I wouldn't even try, you will be throwing more money down an endless pit at this point.

Planning A Trip To Chitcago?
As I get older I have less and less keeping me up here other than my mother in law who my wife is real close to, when she is gone my wife and I surely will be gone for a warmer climate with access to lots of water outside my doorstep for boating and fishing, and the cold is getting harder to put up with every year and I get sick and tired of having to shovel the weather we get. We have been through the mountains all over the west and the only ones that I like are on the Washington peninsula and going up the coast from there into Canada.................But with the Fukashima disaster contaminating the entire west coast that alone will keep me from heading out west. My wife and I are not desert dry heat lovers. We both love sub tropical climates. The way things are going in this country Belize is looking very inviting as well.

Planning A Trip To Chitcago?
HMMMM, 4 hour flight to Florida from ND for 200 bucks each and 200ish for a weeks car rental or drive 1800 miles one way with the cummins pulling our travel trailer would take an entire week to go round trip with no stops not to mention the $1k +- in fuel alone to do it. My wallet, back side and bad back like the ease of nonstop flight option better than dragging a trailer cross country with my short vacation durations of 7-10 days.

Like said above first check WP and then check all hosing, then the classic spot for ahead gasket leak and not show is look at the seem behind the alternator where the head and block meet, that is where they will seep first but it will burn off and leave only a green or residue line along the seem.

Rebuilding Track Bar And Tie Rod Ends
I have a couple of friends that have used the lukes links and neither would use them again, they wear faster than regular tie rod ends and require constant adjustment. I have not heard any good at all about using them in the track bar end link that wears out really fast from what I have heard and if you don't continually keep it adjusted ruins them real fast. I am a fan of nothing but a 3rd gen track bar upgrade and getting rid of the 4.5 turn gear box for a 3.3 turn Borgeson box. I have done every mod known to man on the several second gens I have owned over the years and these 2 mods are all that's needed for a much safer and stabile steering system that handles much better than stock. If one runs any kind of extra weight like a snow plow or heavy bumper and winches or large off road tires and actually off roads then a steering stabilizer can be added but not until you start into the criteria listed.

The Goop From Within
Not a good thing to overfill. overfilling can result in overheating and I have seen it puke out the breather and cause a vacuum and pull even more out the breather once it starts and you could have the seals submerged that are meant to keep splash lube in too. If you fill it to the proper level which is supposed to be just under the fill plug once it is warm it will be above the fill plug a bit anyhow.

New Job!
At the mine I work at we have hired several 50ish Year old employees the last few years. If you are a candidate for hire after the interview process you are offered a position contingent on passing the pre-employment physical and drug test you are on board for 6 months of probation and then permanent.

Bad Oil Leak
They filled you with BS and non truths and should pay to fix it the right way, the balancer has nothing to do with a seal leak as the engine is internally balanced this is a "Harmonic balancer" to take out just that, the harmonics that don't play well with other components over time. But if it was still attached to the crank it was still working. It has nothing to do with having a groove worn in the crank from normal high mileage use and wear. :banghead: I would be filing a small claims suit against them for that one they flat out lied to you!!!!!! The name of the place needs to be made public for the rest of the world to stay away from hands down.

Anybody Do Any Hunting?
White tail Deer "Can't stand the smell of Muley meat" only when I need some extra meat until the next steer is ready for the freezer,I hunt some pheasants only when friends get together, and coyotes are my favorite thing of all to hunt. Having grown up on a 7K acre farm in the middle and along the Missouri river breaks we had tons of both White tail and Mule deer on our land and intermingled together in some areas, I have shot my fair share of nice bucks with huge racks when I was young and realized as I got older I got no real satisfaction out of it and still have yet to find a recipe to make the antlers edible. I like a nice easy green grass/grain fed white tail doe any day. Other than coyotes and other fur bearers I only hunt what I eat. I and my wife are not much for the taste of elk, has kind of a sweet taste, not bad but doesn't tickle our buds............Moose on the other hand is awesome, I have been trying to get a Moose tag the last couple of years, here in ND Moose and Elk are a once in a lifetime draw lottery style. I have never tried antelope but most around here say it is way better than any deer. We have such an up and down population of antelope the seasons are never set the last 2-3 years the population has been low and so there was no season for them, when there is it is land owner first then a limited amount of tags in certain areas only. We are on the northern part of their territory head south a couple hundred miles from me to SD / Wyo. and they are like ants on the land scape. We have a healthy population of Bobcats and Mountain lions across the state but do not feel the need to shoot one unless one had it in for my own personal critters. My someday hunt is to bag a pile of hogs in Texas, one of my best friends from high school lives south of Ft worth and has connections to lots of good hunting land down there. He come back home every couple years for a weeks worth of pheasant hunting and brings back friends from TX and it is funny to see their faces when they all see the size of our deer here and especially our Mule deer, they mistake them for elk. Sounds like the deer down south are about the size of our dogs up here. They are huge dove hunters in TX as you pointed out and they are always amazed at how big our doves are compared to down south too.

You can't cure stupid RV owners...
Well in his case a set of new tires would triple the value of that wee vehicle. Those K-mart hub caps must add at least 5 bucks to it too.

Bad Oil Leak
Why won't they warranty their work since they didn't fix it right in the first place? This is one instance where paying by CC is preferred, reject the payment to them at that point, they have nothing to stand on at that point unless it was stated up front there is no warranty or a time limit on work done.

Alaska Weather!
I have two 1K gallon tanks and keep them filled so I have enough to ride me through major events like this, I use about 1100-1200 gallons/year and that is with my not so well insulated shops furnace running for about 4-5 months and keeping it at about 35*. If I do not run the shop furnace I can lower my use to about 700-800 gallons a year. I just looked at my tanks the other day, I filled in June last year and one tank is still full and the other is at about 10% now.

New Job!
Guess I live in an area and state where you can almost basically pick the job you want, there are that many openings. Here in ND we are well under 3% unemployment and a lot of that stems from the 4-5 reservations we have, and there are tens of thousands of job openings here that companies can't fill. The energy industry boom has driven up wages across the state fairly quickly. As a mechanic or a skilled trade of any sort $20+ is a starting wage now around here. If you work within the energy industry it is around $30+ starting wages up to over $40 and hour already.

Planning A Trip To Chitcago?
Friends of ours just got back a month ago from a trip to Nebraska and brought some of these travelers home with them too, pretty much emptied their house and scrubbed and sanitized every square inch and commercially washed every piece of fabric in the house and had a company come in and fumigate their house on top of it. Funniest part of it was the "Man" Of the house is a germafobe and almost ADHD about these types of things. My wife laughs at me but fully understands and agrees because we travel a lot and the first thing I have done for many years when I walk into a hotel room is tear the bed apart and look for signs critters and give a CSI style look for what may have been subpar cleaning if they didn't change sheets and someone left something behind I don't want to lay on. I travel with my own pillow. I do not put my head on a pillow I don't know the history of ever...........................Too many community spread illnesses out there now.

Find a smaller independent truck shop, they will most likely be able to set you up and a bit cheaper than a dealership or other non experienced shop.

Might have stacked tuners!!! Please help!!
Did you actually talk to any of the techs when you had it in to the dealerships? I rarely if ever go in to my local dealership and talk to a service advisor, I know 2 of the top techs at the dealership personally and they know what I know and will not BS me. They usually know about things and will actually take time to look up any service bullitens and updates for me. This really ticks off the service writers when you bypass them, most are no better than a lying salesman in the end, there are some who for health or other reasons had been techs that will help though.
