  1. The fass HPFP I had on my 02 was never a happy camper at anything under -10 until the grids quit cycling and the batteries recovered from the cold start and grids. Blender pumps have one nozzle and you press one of 5 buttons usually to choose what blend you want and the pump blends it while you fill, they have choices below straight #2 75% #2 / 25% #1 50/50 25% #2 / 75%#1 straight #1 When it comes to preblended fuels stations sell a lot just do either a 50/50 or they have an actual "Winterized" fuel that has its own additives and a blend you have to ask the station specifically what it is.
  2. There are lots of companies that make faucet and shower head filter units that just thread in line, we used to use these until we got a filter setup plumbed into the drinking faucets only not a whole house which Is my next jump.
  3. In cold climates it is common for sewer roof vents to freeze shut or get snowed over and it will cause methane buildup that will do exactly what he was demonstrating in the video. "Kinda wierd stuff huh?" uuuummmmm NO!
  4. I just watched it in slow motion and if you look at it at the 23-24 second mark you can see it looks to be the methane from the sewer vapors that iginte rather than the water, the flames shoot up out of the drain which everyone knows that sewer gas is methane gas and why you do not thaw out frozen sewer vents on your roof with a torch or anything else that will cause the gases to ignite. Could be the propane line teed into the water valve in the basement as well like they did in Gasland.
  5. Do they have any blender pumps up there? I would definately be putting in 2 stroke with straight #1, never in my life have I ran straight #1. I have used 25%#2 and 75%#1 a time or two at -30 and colder but usually only run 50/50 but I know what fuel quality I have at my local stations and what it is capable of. I remember telling you what you were in for while living in GF a few months ago. Looks like you have been 10-15*colder up there on average than in the Bismarck area so far this season.
  6. lol, all the same retoric from the makers of Gasland and Gasland II that has all been discredited and proven false. Not to mention that natural gas has been present in well water supplies around the world long before oil extraction or fracking were even a dream. Most native american tribes talk of flamable water from hundreds of years ago. Plus I live about 70 miles give or take from the closest oil well but it is getting closer. I read about it already a couple days ago on a local political blog I read daily. http://sayanythingblog.com/entry/video-man-claiming-to-be-in-north-dakota-lights-tap-water-on-fire/ I have 2 water sources at my house, I have a well 285 feet deep I don't use much except watering plants and garden and i have rural water that I use for the house but I have it running through a filter system to remove chlorine and Floride and other added chemicals. Both supplies run into the house and I only need to switch 2 ball valves to switch the house from one supply to another.
  7. Hey, with every passing year you have fewer and fewer elders........................then you realize you are the elder.
  8. That ended 10+ years ago here. Cost of supplies and labor are extremely big expenses driving new home prices to the stratosphere, and overall demand with all the energy and related jobs have driven preowned homes values up. The same time frame has been extremely profitable for the ag industry here too which has driven land values up to all time record highs being set almost monthly second only to Iowa from what I hear and read.Entry level jobs here pretty much start at $10-15 an hour and any labor intensive job requires 18-20 to attract even subpar un-experienced employees. Any skilled trade is $25-30 to get anybody to even apply.I bought my home privately and will sell my moms twin home privately as well, I have 2 uncles who have sold several homes and rental units privately too, we are a cheap do it our selves type family, I know more and more folks going this route now days as what relators charge is getting to be astounding now too for what they do.I found a web site that I have been looking at for FL homes that specializes in private sales.I see a lot of homes in my area with signs from this site.http://www.forsalebyowner.com/Here is another site I have been using to look.http://www.landsofamerica.com/landsconnector/grit/
  9. What one person hears and how it is perceived versus another person is as broad as opinions on synthetic oils or any other subject when it comes to diesel ticks or knocks.I wouldn't be too concerned over it.
  10. You are not cold enough for the fuel to be the issue unless you have a healthy dose of bio, I run straight untreated #2 to about 0-10* with no issues. What do you have for an in tank pickup tube?I have heard of many times the fuel gauge is off or the fuel pickup is cracked or too far off the bottom and sucks air.
  11. Personally I think once the interest rates even start to inch up a bit that real estate sales will crash and home values will go through a huge correction as well as tons of folks who have not totally pulled out from under the last housing crash are on a razors edge and if interest rates climb a few points they will lose their homes as well.Very touchy at this point but I hope I am wrong but do see it happening sooner than later.I lost my mother in Feb and my sister and I inherited a twin home from her we are renting out and are looking at selling in the next year, my sister wants the money and I want out of it as it is 20 years old and is coming up on tons of maintenance and has a bad ground water issue I don't want to deal with so I am looking into investment / retirement property in FL and I can't believe how much cheaper homes are in FL compared to here in ND, on average equivilant homes are $75-100k cheaper in FL.
  12. Most common saying in our area is.............." If you don't like the weather, wait 10 minutes and it will change." a lot of days this is as true as it gets.
  13. Tell me about it, Monday morning we had -32*f and Tuesday pm we had +43*f.....75 degree swing in 36 hours everyone had doors and windows open and wearing t-shirts Tuesday. Now we are at -10 again and looks to be 0 to -10 for the next week.Funny how 6 weeks change things, a couple months ago 43 was cold as hell, now it is beautiful. :clap:Thing is these wild temp swings are not unusual for us here in ND.I remember as a kid in the early 1980's in mid July it went from 80's to snow flying in a half an hour.
  14. For those who most of will not spend the time to dig into this as it is a huge spread of info here is the post Moparmom was referring to.http://www.tldm.org/News19/MysteryBabylonToBeDestroyedinOneHour.htm
  15. I have been following this story on and in different areas but they seem to all lead back to the same things. Here is another story that popped up today.http://www.shtfplan.com/headline-news/dhs-insider-preparations-have-been-finalized-to-respond-to-a-crisis-of-unprecedented-magnitude-within-the-united-states_12272013
  16. Most likely an exhaust leak, check the clamp on the down pipe at the turbo and or look for soot around the exh manifold to head area or a cracked exh manifold.
  17. Do you need to go in for routine physicals or eye exams at least? A big reason for us having renewal process so often is with the older population they tend to push their limits and if they can not pass a simple eye test they do not get renewed. Plus with folks moving into the state they are required to get new ND liscence if residing in ND permanent for more than a few month, but I think that is a federal rule there.
  18. ND is set for 4 year renewals on all drivers liscences on your B-Day. I just renewed my CDL this summer, I look at mine every few months as a reminder as well, i would hate to go through all the retesting for regular liscence then the motor cycle and then the class A comercial liscence w/airbrake endorsement. Now for the cdl you have to choose one of 4 options which include full blow interstate transportation / full time in state operation full time within 150 miles of home or just farm use only not for hire within state and one for out of state personal use only. It all comes down from federal regulations on what type of CDL physical paper work one needs and if it needs to be filed with state or federal or both. Gets more confusing every time I renew.
  19. Pretty hard to find a new vehicle that has Dino oil in it anymore, most major mfgs run synthetic or syn blend and most recommend or require it anymore. My BIL had a newer GMC Acadia that had been on an amsoil diet since its first oil change and the dealer started offering dirt cheap service programs so he just had them do the service, he switched back to Dino and it started swalloing about a quart every 500 miles, dealer documented for a couple service intervals but would do nothing as it was within specs yet, he said enough is enough and switched it back to amsoil and oil use quit again but he was leary after that and traded it in.
  20. Scrap heap! For the price of new rotors nobody should cut or grind them anymore. Drums I can see resurfacing but not Rotors especially on the front primary brakes, there is a huge safety factor there. The pic looks to be a rear one and if it was a bity closer to the same thickness I would say yes but that is just too far gone already.
  21. easy 600, I was at 560 hp through it alone as the only filter in the system other than the suction screen pre FASS with absolutely zero issues and still 15 psi at the VP44 at WOT while power pulling. That with 3/8 line from the factory tank pickup to the factory filter with bigger banjo bolts and the 1/2 inch big line between the filter and VP44.
  22. You have a one ton dually Toyota? If not it is not a "Truck"
  23. After rereading your posts I do not think you understand oil terminology. Forget about the 1st number, the actual weight of the oil is the second number. 10w30 / 0w30 / 5w30 is 30 wt oil 5w40 / 10w40 / 15w40 is 40 wt oil 5w20 / 10w20 is 20 wt oil so on an so forth. get the point now? Unless you run fully loaded in 70*+f temps all day every day a 30 weight oil is 100% acceptable unless you run syn then you would have no worries at all. The wives tales / miss information and such about synthetic oils are mind boggling to say the least. Synthetic oil gives superior unmatched performance in extreme heat and use conditions more than it does with cold starts.
  24. 10-30 is not too low of viscosity at all for a diesel. 100% of all CAT heavy mine and construction equipment comes from the factory with 10w30 and that is what all CAT dealers put in when they do services.
  25. Its a Festivus Miracle! lolSorry about my warped sense of humor, no insult intended.Does it peev anyone else that the Christmas celebration 12 days of which just starts tonight is such a commercial holiday that it is considered over after tomorrow when it is just starting?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbfMmCf5-dshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoirV6BbjOg
