New One - truck stalls when moving into gear
I repeat, both of my Jeeps with the 5RFE or what ever that tranny is did the same exact thing. Only happened on a cold start as well. Could be a bad check valve in the tranny cooler filter. I highly doubt it is bearings or an engine problem, since it only happens when you first put it in gear.

Well, maybe you should turn up the idle, it is not a Cat ;)

New One - truck stalls when moving into gear
It could be air in the tranny on a cold start. I had this issue with both of my Jeeps. If you dont have the Mopar spin on filter inside of the transmission, the check valve may be leaking by and draining the transmission cooler. I made the mistake of using after market filter kits on both of my Jeeps. And it would bring the engines right to a halt when engaging. I did not bother to pull the pan again, I made my own mod. Read about it here. Now they both engage very solidly on a cold engagement. http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=98&t=55110 Since this is not a Dodge you may want to verify the return line, I did it while the transmission was hot and engine running, feel the 2 lines, the coolest one is the return.

That is another thing the Cummins books said, or was it the Freightliner book? Any ways it said let out the clutch with no throttle, using the throttle could cause major drive train damage. Just wondering what does the old B series 12V idle at? With the ISB and the computer, it will always keep at it 800 RPMs no matter what.

Nevermind..

Start off in 1st or 2nd?
My Cummins ISB owners manual said to take off in the highest gear possible, I can easily take off on a small grade in second with no throttle. I have let the clutch out in 5th while stuck in the mud, and it kept spinning the tires at idle.

where do you buy your fuel
I guess I am lucky, I have a large oil company about 3 miles down the road. They sell fuel oil and burner service as their main line. They also have truck diesel pumps in the back and gasoline pumps. No attendant, all credit card, and no one hardly ever there, never waited in a line. The fuel is Citgo brand. They most likely put it in for fueling their own fleet?

I am not so sure of that theory, the ice cube floats in water and sinks in diesel. Convection current moves the temps through the water as the warm water rises up to the ice cube, but with the ice and water at the bottom, it would take a long time for the ice to conduct through a dissimilar liquid. Especially if you have to make heat go down to get cooled by the ice. It goes against the laws of physics. Maybe you should try and run both liquids through a coil with a pump for a specified time? Maybe put the coil in an ice bath? I know from refrigeration water has a specific heat of 1.

A warning for DIY AC repair
Yeah, I was wondering why the HP switch did not cycle the clutch? Restriction will usually lower the head pressure since little or nothing is coming in through the suction line, for the compressor to pump. The only thing that will grenade that compressor is an over charge, with no means of relieving it. I had to scold my helper a week or 2 ago, I got a call back on a AC system that he "Topped Off". I connected my High side gauge, and it spun past the 500 PSI mark and broke my gauge. I asked him what the high side was when he charged it. He said he did not connect the high side. I said and that is why I am back here working for nothing. Lucky for us, the compressor has an internal relief that allows it to bypass in a high pressure condition. I ended up taking out 4 lbs. he topped it off with 2 lbs. So if you think auto AC repair is for amateurs, think again. That guy with the TDI should be so lucky he walked away when he did. Not too many things in life more dangerous then high pressure.

A fire chief wrestles with front-line apparatus time-outs due to EPA Diesel Emissions
Now this is just ridiculous, I am sure you will see this especially Mopar1973Man http://statter911.com/2010/04/18/the-regeneration-gap-a-fire-chief-wrestles-with-front-line-apparatus-time-outs-due-to-epa-diesel-emission-regulations/

VP Return Line
I can not understand how clean, filtered fuel could possible plug up the return, after it went through the small tolerances of our VP44?

$60,000 vs. $6,000
Yeah, that is pathetic, I can imagine the posts that are going to be in the Ford Diesel forums in the next couple of year. "shop charged me $4000 to change the glow plugs" I know I expressed intrest in the new Ford diesel when I first heard about it, but I did not expect it to be such a nightmare to repair. Not that I was going to be first in line to buy one. I would buy a Dodge, or put a flat bed on big blue first.

Got a Urea Burner yesterday
I am going to take some more inside pics once I can get some more light in there, the guys at the HVAC forum want to see more too. I am loving the layout of the van so far, with a little tweak here and there for the cargo and function.

Nothing I know of? The dealer would have been pushing it, if it were a bonus?

Got a Urea Burner yesterday
Thanks ISX, I had that idea in my head for over a month, I was going to strap it up on the inner roof, but it would be close to banging my head, I can slide it in the box alot quicker and easier with no lifting, I don't like the clutter that most vans have going on. We have an 05 Sprinter with a roof rack, it is electric operated and cost alot of money, and has gotten whacked more then once, and then we had to straighten out out the best we could. That is why I got the Sprinter, nothing in the USA compares to it for being easy to work out of without banging your head, and all the extra cargo space. I am not sure about a bucket on them, its weakness is that it is uni-body. Ford is body on frame, I have seen buckets on Fords for years, but never on a Dodge or Chevy. I guess for the past 10 years Chevy has been body on frame since the release of the Savannah vans, but I have not noticed a bucket on one yet?

Got a Urea Burner yesterday
Well after a few days of installing shelves and putting lots of thought into stocking it, I am about 99% complete now. With all the space on the left side vs the right side I almost have the load balanced, the right side is 1/4 inch higher front and rear, and I put as much heavy stuff as I could fit on the right side. I think it should be OK with that little bit of load height difference? Notice I even insulated the bulk head with silver bubble wrap insulation. It should help with noise and that cold draft down my neck this winter.

just what is a cummins capable of you ask?.....
That thing looks awesome Makes me wonder what I should do with Big Blue? What kind of body should I consider? Simple flat bed, with a rack?

$60,000 vs. $6,000
Now that Hell has frozen over that low torque V6 Sprinter has a chance against ISX After driving the V6 wanna be diesel today, then getting in my little I4 Jeep diesel, I can feel quite a difference in the low end torque that the inline puts out compared to the V. Some one should smack them Krouts for doing away with the inline diesel. And Mike, I will go down the hill first, but you have to follow me and I will have you attached with a chain
-
$60,000 vs. $6,000
Quite impressive, but it would have a hard time up against my Sprinter, when hell freezes over Come on Mike, don't be such a wuss put the hammer down

Mission Impossible Squirrel
Huh, what about the "Real" Mission Impossible TV series with Peter Graves, that was 10x better then the movie. But I agree, squirrel has it all over Tom Snob Cruise.
