MoparMan sigting
It was Tuesday the 2nd. Probably around 11. I was in the full camping setups. 2 ATVs in/on the bed and the camper. Maybe 1 mile your side of the falls.

Help please, pinhole in raidiator.
If you are hitting 210° at idle you have other problems, that is above full open on the thermostat and there is no way you need that much cooling at idle. I would guess the thermostat was bad or your fan clutch is failing, probably the thermostat thou as the fan doesn't run much even with the a/c on at idle. The 190° thermostat cracks at 190°±3°, goes full open at 207°, and has a max allowed temp of 225°. The 180° thermostat cracks at 180°±3°, goes full open at 198°, and has a max allowed temp of 212°. Watch those non-OEM thermostats closely, they get pretty awful reviews. Your temperature is very stable because you have a 7+ gallon cooling system. Even pulling 7% grades on a 95° day at 20K GCW at 65mph I don't get too hot and run 215° on the grades. It's a good temp because the fan modulates around 50% for most of the grade.

Which brand piston are you going with?

Help please, pinhole in raidiator.
I am not sure the 180° was a good idea. The cooler thermostat will have several negative effects and I don't think any positive effects. The higher temperature is more efficient, but just how much is a ??? Anyhow, diesels like heat and a cooler thermostat will generally mean lower power and/or mileage. Also your fan clutch is electronically controlled and doesn't really start getting actuated until ±215°. The max allowable temperature on a 180° thermostat is 212° (Cummins limit, not Dodge), so you have basically taken your fan out of the equation.

replace wheel studs
Check put etrailer.com I thought your original question was if anyone had done it, and for tips and thought. You got what you asked for, so... I don't see anything about the type being asked.

replace wheel studs
What do you torque them too? I go to 100 on my 6 lug axles.
-
replace wheel studs
I wouldn't be beating them out as it can damage the hubs. You will want a press to get the new ones in so you may as well press the old ones out.

I thought the common thrust bearing failures where on the thrust portion and not the location noted above.

48RE tow/haul
I didn't post anything about it being a 5 speed. 5th gear was followed by (if equipped). If equipped referrs to the 545RFE installed behind the Hemi. The rest of the description is how OD Off and Tow/Haul works in 06-07. It is one button but two different features. Think of it more as a 3 postion toggle switch. I know that is what the 4, R, and E stand for but that is the first I have heard of the 8, or corresponding digit, stand for torque capability. Maybe it's a new thing, but I don't think Dodge has always done that. Think about the 42RE. It is used in the 1500's behind the V6's which produces 215/235 in 2010. Do you have a reference? While prime is a gear term used on some Dodge transmissions the 48RE is not one of them. The 48RE is a true 4 speed with no prime gear. 4th lockup is just that, 4th lockup. I am not a autotransologist but every one I have talked to will give you a brow beating for calling lockup in OD another gear. Lockup and gears are two separate functions. The 48RE can lockup in 3 of it's gears but generally just 3rd and 4th. The 545RFE does have a prime gear and is he trans installed in your 2010, as well as many other model. The 545RFE actually has 6 gears. I am not sure what techincal manuals you have looked at but everyone I have looked at has info on all the gear choices of the 545RFE. 48RE 1st: 2.45:1 2nd: 1.45:1 3rd: 1.00:1 4th: 0.69:1 4th gear unlocked is still .69:1 just with converter slippage. 545RFE 1st: 3.0:1 2nd: 1.76:1 2ndP: 1.50:1 3rd: 1.00:1 4th: 0.75:1 5th: 0.67:1 You can see 6 actual ratios and prime is a different gear ratio. Normal acceleration on a 545RE skips 2P. It takes a downshift under acceleration to get 2P. Some say it has to be a 4-2P, but the manual talks about a 3-2P. I don't have much time driving one so I couldn't tell you for sure. I also understand the 545RFE and 45RFE to be the same transmissions with different programming to get 2 OD's. I think it has something to do with using the 2P gearing????? Yes the rpms will drop, as the tq converter is no longer slipping, but it isn't considered another gear as the ratio inside the trans doesn't change. Since the 48RE is actually a 3 speed with an overdrive module it would be possible to engage the OD in 2nd (aftermarket wiring/brain) but that ratio would be useless at 1.0005:1.

48RE tow/haul
Yeah the 05 has a flash option that disables tow/haul and makes it a OD off like 03-04. I posted a link to the TSB above.

48RE tow/haul
It's not that way in all years, only 03-04.5 From the 06 manual. 06-07 are the same, and like I said 05 can be either. http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2007/21-006-07.htm When driving in hilly areas, towing a trailer, carrying a heavy load, etc., and frequent transmission shifting occurs, press the “TOW HAUL O/D OFF” button once to select TOW HAUL. This will improve performance and failure due to excessive shifting. When operating in “TOW HAUL” mode, 5th gear (if equipped) is disabled and 2-3 and 3-4 shift patterns are modified. Shifts into Overdrive (4th gear) are allowed during steady cruise (for improved fuel economy) and automatic closedthrottle downshifts to 3rd gear (for improved braking) will occur during steady braking. Pressing the “TOW HAUL O/D OFF” button a second time to select O/D OFF will disable 4th and 5th gear completely, which should eliminate any excessive transmission shifting. The “TOW HAUL” or “O/D OFF” light will illuminate in the instrument cluster to indicate when the switch has been activated. Pressing the switch a third time restores normal operation. If the “TOW HAUL” or “O/D OFF” modes are desired, the button must be pressed each time the engine is started. Tow/Haul modifies shift points and line pressures, as well as some differences in closed throttle downshifting. The TSB linked above talks a little about it.

Driveline and suspension questions...
I have ran ARB's and was very happy with them. I daily drove 2 rigs with the same unit (changed it out, thank you Toyota 3rd members) from 01-07. Lots of trips on the interstate and lots of wheeling. I would say well over 100K miles between both rigs and 2 ARB's...see below. The only ARB issues I ever had was the weak as pump and even had one fail on me. I would skip their pump and run a ViAir if I ever went air locker again. Now this was on a lighter Toyota with less peak tq than the cummins makes on 1 cylinder at idle... but I was running 4.88's and 35's and did a fair amount of wheeling. The *$$^((*&@# that put the 1st 3rd member together forgot to either torque and/or locktite the ring gear bolts. I had a high speed vib after a couple years (but with a 22RE and 33-35" tires 70 wasn't easily obtained) that eventually turned into a clunk when a ring gear bolt went between the ring and pinion. That was wheeling/camping in Hamilton, Mt and I drove all the way to Boise, Id towing a 4 wheeler trailer before I tore it apart and found the issue. Aside from stripped threads the ARB took the abuse quite well. Towards the end only 3 ring gear bolts where still installed and none of them where tight. So my experience was great and would go that route again but I cannot justify one.. thou I would love a TrueTrac for the front.

48RE tow/haul
The 05's can be programmed for a tow/haul or an OD off. The 06-07's have 2 modes OD Off or Tow/Haul.

my 04.5 & me..smarty jr..lite pedal/smoke
Oh wow! I think my alarm goes off at 130. I don't even think it gets that high on a heat soaked motor, but maybe your setup is just a little different.

my 04.5 & me..smarty jr..lite pedal/smoke
The IAT increase is really only noticed at slow speeds towing and high speed up big grade. "Normal" driving the IAT doesn't spike.

No I replaced my tube with the MIT that I talked about. My turbo doesn't have a ring or the option, I guess Garrett doesn't believe in them.
