  1. The clip that provides powder to most cig lighters is just a push on, without a positive retainer. It may have fallen off.
  2. I fly them and am a Maintenance Test Pilot for them as well. How old are you?
  3. Plain and simple they all need to stay. There are no cheap/free mods on these trucks and every sensor is needed for proper operation.
  4. A lot of this has to do with the valve springs on the exhaust, I think they are only 30# units arent they? They really need to be swapped to 60# units to run 30+ psi of boost/DP.
  5. Thats great looking oil, no reason to change that!
  6. Which is a great reason to do it... Just don't want someone to be disappointed if they do it. They look 100x better!
  7. I know that 3rd gen guys use 2nd gen intake horns for better flow. I went one step further and got a GDP intake horn. Its a very nice piece. What I saw was decreased IAT's, increased throttle response, quicker spool, and about 100-150 rpms quicker to 30psi. EGT's were negligable, but on a 3rd gen the IAT's and Ambient are very close, and a 1* decrease in IAT is only good for a 1.5* decrease in EGT's. So even if you drop IAT's 50* your only going to see a 75* EGT drop, and with my 3rd gen I only dropped about 3-5* of IAT's. I am very happy with my choice, but the 3rd gen is MUCH more restrictive to start with, so I wouldn't expect as high of gains on a 2nd gen.
  8. No issues yet, knock on wood! 3 fuel filters, and dosing the fuel.. But CRs are hard on injectors. You need to consider the pressure and the number of injections. A 3 injections per stroke on my 05 the injectors have 3x the "miles" on them, and up to 5 injections per stroke on the 6.7.
  9. That makes sense, more boost to cool...
  10. So what would your EGT's have been with the fan/shroud?I would think a lack of fan/shroud would increase your EGT's, and the IC is getting heat soaked easier, even if the fan is just freewheeling its moving a little air.
  11. What are you idle EGT's?
  12. Its in the garage displayed proudly on my bookshelf, awaiting the rest of the funding!
  13. Got about 600 miles on em now.. on a hot day there isn't much difference, but on a cold day man it starts quick!I also have noticed that the voltage doesn't drop near as far when the grid heater cycles after the motor starts. On the OE batteries it would drop to 11.8 or a hair lower at times, I have noticed the P-2's staying at 12.7 or 12.8 on more than one occasion, they will drop to 12.2 also, but not nearly as easily as the old batts.
  14. Well, thats one way to revive an old thread!I have been wanting to de-badge mine, just haven't done it yet...
  15. Wow is about all there is to say about those habits! But an 62/65/12 S300 is probably what he should get.. A d-tech unit is cheaper and at the rate he goes thru them??
  16. You laugh.. but you guys are no better
  17. Correct, but my voltage still seems lower for a given ambient temp that it was with the stockers, by about .2V.. But I don't have a ton of miles on em yet, I'll keep an eye on it for a while, but it could just be how the battery charges, it is also about 40% heavier.
  18. Yeah I figured that outside in was standard flow and wouldn't be hurt by magnets.. They are on the list to get, just haven't yet. Has anyone ever done a lab rating test on a Frantz? I know they filter very very fine, but at what %age? I mean a screen door will catch 2% of all 1/2 micron particles..
  19. Must have been a LD truck, or maybe a HD hemi?. Dodge only put them behind SO trucks, and early 04 was the last year of the SO. --- Update to the previous post... I just did a little quick search, and it may have been offered in gas 1/2 and 3/4 trucks in 05, but I can't find any record of it occurring after mid 05, about the same time the NV5600 went away.
  20. I have always wanted to put a couple magnets on my filters, I just never have. It seems silly to even me, but I am worried about the filter being damaged by too strong of a magnet pulling metal thru the media and lowering the filtration rating.. Now I know that if I have that big of materiel in my filter I am screwed, and the magnet would have to pull harder than 80psi of oil pressure pushes.. but that's how my mind works :banghead:
  21. The last year for the NV4500 in a HD Dodge was 04. I am not sure about LD trucks, or when GM quit using them.
  22. Yeah, my oldest. She is 3. I have 3 daughters, they are lots of fun!
  23. Had a new mechanic look over the rig today. I got the big thumbs up!
