  1. I've done a little phone browsing, thanks for the hookup.

  3. 30 here.. got a bit to go! --- Update to the previous post... http://forum.mopar1973man.com/showthread.php/2983-How-old-are-you-round-2!
  4. Well the old thread was closed, and there are lots of new folks and everyone has had a birthday.. So let er rip!.
  5. You can replace just one, but most people recommend all 6 becuase the others will probably fail soon after. You can pull them out and have them test and rebuilt, I know Don M and some others can do this. It would also be nice to know why they failed to see if you can do anything about it to prevent future failures.
  6. Do you have a test light? I would start at the pump and work up the to the ECM looking for power, or loose connections. Make sure both the power wire and the lift pump wire from the ECM are hot with the key in "bump". I would suspect its an issue with the power wire, but purely a hunch.
  7. I don't recall the VP trucks having the option for a manually controlled 6cyl fast idle, but I think Mike has a way to do it, as well as another member sells a kit. Do you run that stuff with the truck off much? Unless the truck is off or you're drawing more than the alternator makes your batteries aren't part of the equation. If you're running the stuff with the truck off the red tops are a poor choice for that kind of service.
  8. I didn't realize GM jumped on that band-wagon too, but yeah a single 160 or dual 125's. Ford offers 157, 200, or combined for 357 total. And Dodge is still with a single 160 or 180, or 220 on 4500-5500's.
  9. No, that would be bad. But it was an option on all their trucks, not just the ones ready for ambulance upfit.
  10. Ford has an option on all their truck, not sure if it went past the 6.0 or not, for dual alternators. I don't see the point on 2 100's vs 1 220?
  11. I wouldn't deal with dual alternators. For the money I think you could get an upgraded alternator and better batteries (for high load). I know the 6.7 5500's come with a single 220 as an option (Mopar part # 4801313AC). From what I gather it puts out 193A at engine idle, and if you bump you fast idle up it gets to its rated output pretty quick. Even if that alt won't fit you can have yours rewound by most small electrical shops, and you could probably over-drive it for more idle output. (I did this on a 93 Toyota for winching and the difference was HUGE).
  12. I have the FAST Coolers on my truck. I put them on before the Trans cool was on the market. There are pro's to both.I like the additional capacity of the FAST coolers, as well as the price. The Trans cool does appear that it would cool better. I have never ran a temp gauge, but all the posts I have read on the FAST coolers shows a decent drop in temp. The drop in temp I have read about doesn't warrant, IMHO, the additional cooling of the Trans cool's. Give the choice today I would stick with the FAST coolers.
  13. Interesting, we don't purify our own hydraulic fluid for the -64.. at least not that I know of.
  14. I run a 40" Donaldson M085171 and its very quiet. It was a little loud with the exhaust brake on, so I added a Megacab Resonator and now its perfect. The Donaldson are great mufflers and very well priced.
  15. AFIK it will be fine. If filters need o-rings they are supplied with them.
  16. A new filter shouln't effect flow at all, so yeah that sounds normal. In fact when my filters are new my gauge moves a lot for the first 1K or so miles, then it calms down. Yes that's supposed to be the new "2 um" filter, but I have yet to see anything at all from cat about its ratings. All I know is that its only spec'd for 1 engine, a C4.4 which is rated at a max of 150hp. Becuase its such a specialized filter no one makes a cross for it, and thus makes it real hard to get data on.Where the 1R-0750 is for engines at least 10.4L. Not saying the UHE is a bad filter, just don't know enough about it.
  17. They look like good units, but I am not sure they are 3x better than the 2um Amsoil filters.
  18. What boost levels are you running?
  19. I love em, best tire I have ran. If they wore a little better i'd be 110% happy with em.
  20. I fly the things, and still run out to see em go by.
  21. Back of the CP3, which on your 04 is under the APPS on the driver side of the motor.
  22. Yep, its what meters the fuel to be pressurized. If its failing and allowing too much fuel in then you get too much pressure. It's located on the back of the CP3, and it has the only electrical connection on the CP3 attached to it. I am not aware of any real ways to test it. I hear if you shake it and it rattles its good?? But I am not sure I trust that..
  23. My first guess would be that the FCA is failing, and allowing for too much rail pressure.
  24. You're on the same filter for 7 years? Is it a paper filter? I would think it would be deteriorating in that amount of time, and possibly letting dirt by which is why the filter minder never moves. Have you done any UOA recently to look at silicon? I am not saying its the case, just seems like too long on a paper filter IMHO.
