  1. Ah ok, well if it's supposed to stay on and it's only throwing the code during the times it's supposed tobe on, I'm not going to worry about it.
  2. I mean, typically what I've always seen was, turn key, WTS comes up along with all other dash lights, then eventually they all extinguish. Well that's what's happening except the CEL still stays on until I turn the key and start the truck, then the CEL is gone. Unless I'm remembering things wrong, but I didn't think the CEL would stay on until the engine was cranked. I thought it would go out with all the other dash lights if there were no codes.
  3. Great info Mike! I'm sure my power steering isn't happy with the bigger tires on there. I've been having some trouble with turning at idle/low speeds so I'm going to check my fluid level, might be low. If not that then do a full system flush. Hopefully that'll cure it.
  4. From what I've seen on the speed checkers around town, the speedo seems right on. The hypertech is set for the larger tires so it's 'fixed' the speedo. Does the 3-4 gear thing sound like an issue? Or one related to this?
  5. Awesome! Im planning on re-base lining all my fluids so I know when they were done so this list will definitely help! When you say petroleum based for the power steering flush, is that a specific kind of power steering fluid? @Me78569 how do you tell if you have an lsd and what additive should be added?
  6. So is it even necessary to do any more trouble shooting, especially since it only pops while I'm waiting to start the engine? Is there any point in replacing speedo sensor?
  7. Was wondering, we have list's and charts for just about everything for our trucks, but do we have a list of recommended/top/best fluids or favorites that everyone uses? It could be anything from oil, power steering, trans fluid to windshield washer fluid! I was just wondering what everyone liked to use so looked for a list, couldn't find one so thought maybe it'd be a good thing to have!
  8. Dude! Awesome write up! I'm glad I came across this now as steering/suspension is next on my list! Definitely plan on doing this! Thanks again!
  9. So from my research I've done so far, the 1693 code is just a code thrown, letting you know that there is a code present on one of the other computers right? The 0500 code is a speed sensor and ABS issue, short version, the pcm(?) can't tell why or thinks that front and rear wheels are spinning at different speeds. The CEL only shows up when my key is turned on and the WTS light is on. Once the engine is running, the CEL is not back lit and the truck seems to run fine. Occasionally, I'll have first gear run a little longer then it seems it should, and I have a weird lock up thing happen in between 3rd lock up and 4th. I can expand on those if need be. Other possible factors to cause this are the hypertech tuner that the PO had installed. I turned off the tune but did let it correct the speedo for the bigger tires. Could that be the reason its throwing the code? And why it's only showing the code during start up? Or should I just go out and get a new speedo sensor and see if that clears the code and fixes the problem
  10. Yea I hear ya! Well hope its an easy fix, looking forward to seeing what you find.
  11. Nice haha! That's why I was stoked to find the flexible pvc, I think it strikes a good middle ground for those who just run straight down. Cheap too These were the parts I used PVC COUPLER
  12. Typically grinding isn't good in anythings trans related. Do you use 4wd pretty often?
  13. haha so are you doing the over the top or straight down?
  14. Yea that's basically the plan! I just like knowing what to look for! Are there any other ways to check for blow by?
  15. That's pretty much what mine looks like. Like just enough so you know it's there, but you actually have to be looking for it.
  16. Alright I think I'm good. Let the truck idle, unscrewed the oil cap and it just sat there, actually started to thread itself back again lol. So a little white smoke at idle is no big deal then? Or at least as long as your oil cap first sky rocket off the engine cover?! Haha
  17. So I went to check my improvised tubing and was curious. How much smoke is too much? Or what is/should be expected out of this vent?
  18. Real glad you got some positive news to report! Here's hoping to many more problem free miles!
  19. notlimah reviewed Mopar1973Man's Cummins article in Engine
Really great write up for an often overlooked mod!
  20. Nice update there Mike! That's about as straight forward as you can get! When I was doing this last night, the first bit of pvc I got was 1/2in, didn't realize it was a 3/4in at the vent cover hole! Glad that was added!
  21. Ah yea, that's what @Mopar1973Man recommends. I just ran mine straight down the front of the engine. Once he updates his build I'm more then likely going to copy that and change things up. As of now I'm only in $2.50 on this build so can't really complain!
