My Tranny got HOT!
I agree. I think for the OP's original issue a lock up switch would've worked wonders. In your example where you could pull long steep grades where you could have the TC locked and it still overheats, then bigger coolers with fans are a must!

When have you needed to use it?

trreed's upgrade thread
Cool, wasn't sure if you used the same as him. I'll look through that to refresh my memory.

No problem man! What's weird is mine never made any noise but was all over the road. Once I put the DOR on there I had some popping for a bit but it eventually went away. Those headlights look good! How much work is needed to get the projectors to fit in the housings? Any extra wiring or boxes?

Pretty sure you can do it either way. I bolted mine which required you drill 2 holes through the crossmember. Wasn't exactly easy but I didn't have the best drill for it either. The red arrows are the two holes you'll need to drill I somehow lost (has since been found) the big bolt that goes through here so ended up putting a bigger one in after drilling out this hole. Bracket from the front That was pretty much it. Once installed I had my brother push the truck back and forth while I spun the track bar and eye balled it until my end links looked straight up and down. When I did finally get an alignment for my 4th gen steering I had the shop check it and they said it was only an 1/8th inch off. Also, I bought these dust covers All I can say is this shows how much extra room it requires and good luck lol. Danny said it takes a little persuading but I don't see how it's possible so I just left them out. Let me know if you got any any other questions!

My Tranny got HOT!
Yea, I thought the same thing! I asked when that would ever need to be used and he mentioned that going down a steep grade instead of riding the brakes, just drop into 1st and lock it up and you can use it as an engine brake.

I knooooooow Mike! I meant no auto in a diesel! Would you ever need 1st or 2nd lock up with the 46re? Just was pointing out that the 47re can lock up in 1st & 2nd if the valve body is built properly.

It's because you don't have an auto and haven't had Jon work his magic! He said I can lock up in any gear I wanted both in D or manually dragging the handle down to 2 or 1.

My Tranny got HOT!
Laguna's grade is no joke that's for sure. Driven up that 100s of times! As far as your trans temp, where are you reading the temp from? That'll sorta sway the answer one way or another for if that was too hot or not. That is definitely on the high end for what you'd want to ever see though. I doubt you did any damage to the trans (a 47re btw unless you swapped in a 48re) especially over that short of a time, but a flush would probably be the same thing I'd do as well. A trans cooler or a slightly deeper trans pan would help for sure but I honestly think for your situation a lock up switch would've worked the best. If you have your valve body built and setup properly you could drop all the way down to 1st and hit your lock up switch and crawl up the hill with the TC locked. Your trans is getting that hot because the TC isn't locked which is why you're seeing the temps drop so quickly once it does lock.

when to buy new tires
Always good to have someone you know working at places you shop! Glad things worked out for ya!

Brake Pads
I recently put in Hawk pads I got from Geno's. They have noticeably better braking when empty but haven't towed with them yet, will here in a month or so, so I can report back then. Probably wouldn't of even put new pads and rotors on if I knew I would've come across 4th gen wheels but I'll hang onto these for a bit.

RV275 Injectors
@oldbeek have you thought about something like an edge ez or quad xzt? Pretty sure I've heard of CA guys running that combo without problems.

when to buy new tires
Yea that's why I'm going with the Coopers. Reasonably priced, even without the sale, good warranty both from Cooper and DT, and overall good reviews. I'll add my opinion after I get them on with some miles.

Oil change
Just got to say that @AH64ID is the man!! Ordered some oil from him yesterday and it was sitting on my door today! At a better price too boot!

when to buy new tires
Can't really answer much in the way of when to change other then when treads to low, or you're handling is getting sketchy then get new tires. I'm going to get Cooper ATPs from discount tire on Monday in 285/70/17 because of @dripley's review and many other positive reviews. Pretty sure they come with a 55,000 tread warranty as well. They also have pretty good savings going on this weekend for the 4th and discount tires are everywhere.

RV275 Injectors
Awesome! Glad to hear you're liking them. Are you running a tuner as well?

Emissions time is here
Those numbers aint bad for you having it turned down the way you did! Should be sitting at 350hp all day with it tuned all the way up!

My latest UOA
I said the same exact thing!

Towing toy hauler
I thought that the RVs or 50s would allow any WOT runs without worry of EGTs?
-
Wheels and Tire Setup
Agreed, I'm going to wait and see what it looks like once I get 285's on it in a few days. What's weird is that sometimes it looks like it has a nice slight rake, a bit like yours, but other times, it's perfectly flat. If it is still perfectly level, I'll either be putting Timbrens in the rear to keep it from squatting or just dropping the front back to stock.

Towing toy hauler
Mike where'd you get your 50hp injectors from again?
-
Wheels and Tire Setup
I think he mentioned a little bit back how fancy he is and has two sets of wheels/tires, for summer and winter.

Wheels and Tire Setup
Im sure they'll work out great!

Wheels and Tire Setup
Well looks like I'm going to end up with some Cooper ATPs from discount tire. They have a pretty decent promo for 4th of July and the tread mileage is pretty nice as well. If they don't turn out alright I'll just blame @dripley!
