  1. Glad to have you on board!
  2. Go to the downloads section on here and download the FSM for your year truck and follow the instructions in there for the proper way to do it. Sorry to give such a generic answer but it's really the easiest way to explain it.
  3. The heavier the load and the longer the torque converter stays unlocked, the hotter the transmission will get. I can't imagine your 18 foot boat weighs that much, but if you're driving really slow twisty roads and the trans is constantly shifting between 1-2gear, never giving the TC a chance to lock, it'll definitely get warmer. IMO that shouldn't get so hot that it's setting off the factory trans high temp light, which I think is something crazy high like 260*! A properly built trans and a lockup switch would solve this issue.
  4. So you're saying you pulled the alt fuse and wires and still had the same issues? If yes then that sorta clears the alternator of any fault (for now), so next like @Dynamic suggested, I'd find out what governor pressure solenoid was used and report back.
  5. Start at the vacuum line up by the AC bottle and trace it back to any broken pieces.
  6. Yea those are all over CL up here. Fortunately I don't NEED new rims, it'd just be nice to get up to 17s and at the same time get down in tire size, so I guess I'll just have to be patient lol!
  7. I tapped right into the dimmer switch power, with the same effect as others posted.
  8. Yes you can just pull the alt fuse to act like it's disabled.
  9. Man you got two sets of 4th gen wheels?! I can't find any in my area
  10. Glad you got everything figured out. At least it was an easy fix! It wouldn't hurt to start another thread with your fuel system questions, but to answer really quick, yes the tank needs to come down or you need to take off the bed, whichever you prefer. Running 1/2in lines with a solid fuel system like FASS, Airdog or GDP and you'll have those numbers.
  11. I don't have cable either! lol that's the beauty of roadkill is it's only on YouTube.
  12. Jeez Tyler, talk about a rough go! Sorry to hear about all that hail damage, definitely a bummer I suppose there's not much you can do about it. Seems odd to hear about a ppump having mechanical issues like that, is this a common problem?
  13. You're not going to be reading voltages using the obd reader. You need a digital volt meter to do that. The article section covering obd errors is pretty straight forward, step by step process. If you have questions, let us know!
  14. Both my 02 and 99 have a quick chirp/squeak at shut down. I'd probably think something was wrong if it didn't do that when I shut the truck off!
  15. If you have codes then use the link I posted and go through all the troubleshooting steps for each one. That's the beauty of codes, is you know exactly how to fix them. If that still doesn't solve your issues then we'll start thinking outside the box and help out but until you fix your codes we're at a bit of a standstill.
  16. Diagnose and fix the codes. https://mopar1973man.com/cummins/articles.html/24-valve-2nd-generation_50/51_engine/obdii-error-codes_94/?d=4
  17. That's it! Looks different from what I've seen though, haven't seen that raised edge before. The dowel has always been even with the bolt right next too it. Are you going to tab it just to play it safe?
  18. Hmmm maybe a connector got unintentionally knocked out of place or you might've accidentally forgot to plug everything back in. Just don't see how the truck would run worse after a new VP install otherwise
  19. You get all your boots put back on? Intake side fastened down?
  20. Once the VPs out you'd need to do a 'full bleed' either way. Nothing different then bleeding the system any time the fuel lines are open. Checking the pressure at the VP won't ever hurt it, just not giving it enough pressure hurts it.
  21. Definitely! Wouldnt solder without it!
  22. When replacing the stock alternator with another stock, sometimes the 'new' one shows up out of what we consider spec but what's considered normal for parts stores to sell. Keep that in mind and let get those lifetime warranty returns goin!
  23. Where did you mount your switch @jlbayes?
