  1. I guess I need to send you my truck for a few weeks, and maybe you can get me to at least 20mpg. that would be a good start.. LOL
  2. I (having owned a p-pumped truck) can fully understand the draw and love for the p-pump. My VP truck will NEVER EVER EVER see the fuel economy my '96 had, let alone, couple that with the power it made. The '96, with $200 worth of mods, will run circles around my 24V, even with the $1000 worth of mods it has. 27mpg highway (5spd, 4x4 sclb) of the p-pump truck vs. 17mpg highway (6spd, 4x4 qcsb) is a sample of the allure. But I get what you're saying, Mike.
  3. I'd be leery of the reflective glare of the mirror glass over the screen.. Mine is horrendous during the day; seeing the camera image is very close to impossible.
  4. On the 3G trucks, I'm not sure it's worth it, given all of the computer-controlled stuff. As for parts list for a 2G, you'll need a lot..fuel (hard) lines, ppump, mount brackets, rear timing cover, pump gear, throttle linkages, FSS, lift pump, etc.For my VP truck, parts (alone) were in the $2500-3000 range.
  5. In 2, I can hit the bottom of the hill (it's about 1-1.25mi long climb) at 65mph with the trailer. By the time I reach the top, I'm down to 4th and 40-45. In 3 or 4 setting, I'm down to about 55 and still in 5th.
  6. John, right now, the highest I've ever seen is 32psi for a split second. On average, it's max boost seems to hover around the 28-29psi mark.. Climbing the 6% grade, pulling ~9000lb trailer, 5th gear (nv5600) at 55-60, it's about 23-25psi, easily 1100*F+, but only hazing, if that.. That's with the Edge on 3x5 or 4x5. I've never towed in 5 or HotUnlock. Same hill, same speed/gear, with Edge on 2 or 3, it'll hover around 1000* and 22-23psi. Around town, rowing through the gears, it'll haze heavy at gear change/acceleration of 3, 4, and 5 on any Edge setting > 2. On 4, empty, it'll really bellow the smoke on gear-change accelerations til about 8-10psi. Think my stock sticks are wore out? 180+k miles on the truck.
  7. So, John (FAK) has been expressing various options with reasons (offline discussions) and I thank him for that. But I think a lot of good info will get lost that other members may be able to benefit from, so I brought the convo back public.Basically, I think I'm leaning towards the option of keeping the HX35 and throw in some small sticks (50 or 75s), to be honest.. BUT, here's my question/concern.. Right now, my truck with the Edge on 4 will smoke light a freight train (as previously mentioned) pretty much, at will. Won't this only get worse with bigger sticks? I understand I'll need to dial my box back. The biggest point of confusion for me is how M73M and others can run a bigger injector (rv275, etc.) on a stock turbo, and their box on 5x5 or greater... No way in hell I can do that, especially with a trailer on, and keep EGTs below 1100+ on any real type of engine load.
  8. I can't help you any, on the seal portion. However, I'm subscribing to see how you fair with the job..Good job on the wheel hub, by the way. Mine took about 2 days to get loose. And a pile of broken tools.
  9. No worries FAK, I'm learning, too.:)Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
  10. by all means, post here if you like. Turbocharging and diesels are completely different than turbocharging and gas engines. I'm quite familiar with the latter. the former is what I'm really trying to get a grasp on now. especially with the impending upgrade(s).. John(s), thank you both for the edumacayshun. I didn't realize (or really) understand how the twins worked, aside from the physical connectivity. - - - Updated - - - one guy is selling the s300(s).. one's an S, the other a G. Said they'd work good together as compounds... wut?
  11. those things are awesome.. however, a 5 lug 3/4ton..
  12. So they do twins with the hx35/S475? I saw an S475 for $800.. Hmm... I'll price some 75s in the meantime..
  13. what do they look like? on the truck, the 22s, i mean.
  14. yeah, you can turn that off, cummins. it's a setting in the juice. 160* seemed to be the magic number. It's a safe setting.. I turned mine off a long time ago.
  15. I have to say that I've never really paid attention to it before, but I noticed something about my truck this past weekend...With the EJ w/A, 1st and changing into 2nd gear (5600 trans) rapping it up to around 2500-2800rpm each time (from a dead stop) seems almost lethargic in acceleration. But 3rd gear, the truck takes off like a rocket. Same with 4th, and 5th. It's not just due to the short gearing; at least it doesn't feel like it. It feels as though the truck has, say 200hp in 1st, 200hp in 2nd, and 300 in 3rd, and so on.Is that the ECM's control vs speed or something? Or is it in the Edge?
  16. thanks alot, guys. I like the idea of the VGT and getting the benefit of the EB in the process, but the controller side would/could be an issue. Especially with the aftermarket controllers in the 6-800$ range :spend:I'm not real familiar with drive pressure, as well as how it affects the VP trucks vs. the CP trucks, etc.. Are the 351cw's also limited to the ~30psi range, as the hx35s are?I waltzed through ebay real quick, and most of the he351cw's I saw there were in the 6-800$ range.. I know of (2) S300s I can pick from for less than that. And, like FAK, I like the idea of starting with an he351cw and having the ability to do a 472 under it, later on.
  17. your vote is the same place mine is, John. However, my wallet has said it ain't happenin'... What's the pros/cons of the he351cw VS an s300? As for running the 155s on the HX... no way sir. with the OE sticks in it, I can easily hit 1200*F + with the Edge on 4, with little to no effort while towing. And, it'll smoke like a freight train with the OEs, so I can only imagine what the 155s would do. ---EDIT--- -Hy35, flows approx 57 lbs/min -Hx35, flows approx 60.85 lbs/min -He351cw (Spools faster than the hx35, but makes the same power) flows approx 60.85 lbs/min -Hx40, flows approx 70.10 lbs/min -Hx45 (can't find the flow at this time) -Hx50/52 or 55. flows approx 99.20 lbs/min -Hx60 (Notice I didn't say HT60), flows approx 125.66 lbs/min -Hx82, flows approx 198.42 lbs/min If I'm only gaining spool speed, then what's the point? - - - Updated - - - so, further reading, I see where guys use the he351cw as a top charger in a twin setup? bottom being an S471 or the likes??
  18. So, right now, I have the stock HX35 and stock sticks. Edge Juice w/Attitude on 3x3 (Drive-mode). I have a set of 155hp BD Pulse-XXX sticks in the garage. My perfect-world scenario would be go to twins, but that's not in the checkbook right now. So, I'm looking at possibly going to either HX40, Silver Bullet, or Super B, or something along those lines, provided they're large enough to air the 155 sticks. I'm not scared to buy a used turbo, either, provided it's from someone I can trust (forum friend, etc.) as the > $1000 price tags are not an option for me. I still need to install my dual-disc clutch, and I need to do tire, brakes, and a radiator cleaning.. Discuss. Thanks, Rogan - - - Updated - - - additional turbo thoughts are: S300 HE351VNT w/ Fleece Controller
  19. I've already contemplated a 12V swap ;)
  20. My dad was an avid camper in his retirement years. His hobby was to buy campers (usually pop-ups) and restore them. He did a lot of little workings on this RV, fixing anything/everything he could find on it, that was in need of attention. It was always started at least a couple times a month, with some trips around the neighborhood to keep it 'lubed'.. Even after his passing, my mom starts it every couple of weeks, and my brother tools around the 'hood in it at least once a month. roof is fine, as he had it resealed when the AC was replaced.
  21. The biggest thing in my mind, is, it was my dad's MH. There's the sentimental factor there, that is heavy, and fresh. As for camping, we usually only go a few times per year. And when we do, it's mostly just for the weekend. Rarely do we go anywhere that requires us to need a secondary mode of transportation. So this would work fairly well for us.My biggest concern of it all, is, fuel economy, or lack thereof. The 460, albeit carb'd or fuel injected, I'm sure is horrendous.
  22. Makes sense. :)Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
  23. I totally get what you're saying. However, I'm looking to you guys for ideas as to whether or not I should get it, and if the price is good or bad or whatever. Maybe if I were to get it, a possibility to trade it for a TT later ;) Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
