  1. It is a Chevy Mikey. Welcome sir. We have ordered Mike some glasses but they have not arrived as of yet. Nice mudder by any name.
  2. Too much air in the system as suspected. But happy you got it running.
  3. This is how I ended up with a $900+ in tank fuel system. I had to pay the tow bill however. I did not know enough about it then to do anything different. I had to supplement it with a booster pump and then replace the whole thing 3 years later.
  4. Fortunately my work building CFA's takes me to cities, some large and some small. So I am usually near someone to use for help if necessary. The luxury I dont have is being able to take it and work on it. Fortunately I have been able to handle the major ones. at home. I have been out they while working on Loves Travel center in Hooker OK out in the pan handle. Blew my mind how far you could ride and not see a tree much less a town. I can identify with you on that one. Once I turned 50 I found I could not remember to zip up my zipper any more. Now at 64 I still cant remember. Part of the CRS syndrome I believe.
  5. I am the same here as @Mopar1973Man on that. I cant hurt if you want to do it but it seems to me to be a waste of oil. I see alot of miles just getting to and from home for the weekends. Current round trip of about 900 miles a week. Just shy of 420k on mine. If you are worried about it you could do some oil analysis and see if there are any issues.
  6. I have never had any kind of break down bad enough I could not fix where I was. I would not however think it would be a problem finding some one to haul the truck home. There are a lot of hot shotters out there that would do it. It does not take a big truck to haul your 3500. I would do it with my 2500 and the right trailer. There are trailer rental companies out there too but not sure how versatile they are on returns. You could spend upwards of $2 a mile to haul it if you hire someone. You have to weigh that with the kind of repairs that you need done. A $2k tow bill for a $1K repair does not add up in my book. As much as I would rather do most things myself sometimes it is not possible. There are reputable repair shops out there. The locals should now where they are. In my line of work I travel a lot but would not have time to haul it back and fix it anyway. I also have the luxury of working with the locals so i have head start on that.
  7. I have only pulled mine twice too. Once on the first day of my AD install and once the next day when I realized I did not install a couple spring clamps completely.
  8. @015point9 That is pretty much what my AD kit did for my module except that I removed the in tank pump and the little rubber flapper in the bottom of the basket. Works great. The lift pump will suck the tank dry. I have put 35 gallons in it on a very few occasions.
  9. I never took my carrier loose. Had to persuade it a little but it came out. Cutting the corners aint a bad idea though.
  10. Cant see that it would hurt anything at all. Mine does not have anything there. It has been a long time since I looked at mine but I do seem to remember a bend in it, but not sure. There is a bolt that holds the strap also or was on mine any how.
  11. I dropped the tank. At the time I did not think about raising the bed. I only about 4 gallons the first and about 8 or 9 the second, if you have a lot fuel in the tank it will be more difficult. I put cribbing under the tank, took the 2 straps off and let it rest on the cribbing then just removed the layers of cribbing. I think it is as much a preference thing as to how you go about it. You lay back more pulling the tank and not with the bed raised. I have heard of folks having quarter tank issues with the DS but I am willing to bet they were cut to short when installed. Thats about the only way they can suck air. My pickup is in the basket with kit that came with my AD to remove the in tank pump. I did not re plumb the return line and have had no issues with it in the 7 years or so it has been on there. I think either way you do it is good if you follow the instructions and use some common sense while installing.
  12. @CTcummins24V I have used the system on 3 or 4 jobs. I sure had my doubts about putting them under a parking lot. It is amazing how strong they are when installed properly. It is good product. My last job had a sand filter in the parking lot. My first messing with one of these. It is there more for filtration than retention although it does meter the flow of water down stream. This is by far the biggest structure I have ever installed on a CFA site. It is also the biggest hole I have ever dug on any job I have run. The hole was 120' long and 70' wide at the top and 16' deep on the right end down to 12' on the left. Every spoonfull of dirt that came out of the hole was petroleum contaminated. Turned into a $300,000 + extra just for the hole.
  13. Got a little under ground retention going on there I see. What are you building and whats your part in it? This is usually where my truck sits most of its life.
  14. I was just joking. Sometimes I am so FOS it confuses me.
  15. That is a pretty big statement from a man that lives in Houston Texas. I hope all is well out your way. As far as shifting earlier in the rpm maybe it is the speed thats making you shift. They see to be a good bit bigger in diameter than the others.
  16. @Dieselfuture Did you paint your truck? It looks .........old? And also mysteriously looks like a full crew cab. Now my eyes are going on me. This is unfair to senior citizens.
  17. I know I have heard of a Fuminns before but a Forchevymmins is beyond me. I would say drill a your own risk.
  18. I wore out both of mine. I swapped the passenger seat bottom to the drives side 3 maybe 4 years ago. The fabric on the left side of the passenger seat is not near as good as the other side and It was worn slam out, fabric and the cushion pretty much just garbage now. They were definitely a lucky find.
  19. With the head on the pump and the fuel lines, to certain extent, are in the way. Along with the stuff @Dieselfuture mentions.
  20. Sometimes I remember to do it and sometimes I dont. It has never seemed to make a difference for me but has for others. Just turn the key to on, no engine start, slowly depress and release the throttle then turn the truck off. It lets the ECM see 0% to 100% throttle. Like I said it might not be the issues but as easy as it is to do, it is worth a try.
  21. I picked up my seats last Saturday afternoon. Not sure the pictures showed how nice they really are. No holes in them at all. The only ware is in the drivers seat and it is mainly from the driver sitting more to the left in the seat and that side is lightly worn and the cushion is flatter there. Same issue with my old ones except mine was a lot flatter. The rubber trim at the hinge was just start to tear so I took the one good one off of the passenger seat of my old set. They are interchangeable for those that dont know. Another picture before install. And then a picture after install. My camera was acting up and I did not get a picture of the old ones. I will get one this weekend and post it. Mine were worn out. I now find myself looking at seat covers. Hate to cover them up but finding the cheap replacements was not fun either. I am tickled crapless to have found these. I feel like I am sitting 2" taller with these and it is apparent when I get in and out that I am. Have to stretch the leg just a little more to get it on the ground. And my arse and back are extremely happy to be riding in them. As far as the old ones go, the only things good left on them is the passenger seat back and the center seat. the top of the console is torn from my elbow resting on it. Apparently the PO was shorter than me because the elbow dent in it is a few inches more towards the front of where mine rests. Hope that means it will last a long time. If any body needs any seat hardware off of these let me know other wise I am going to toss what ever I dont need or want to save. I was thinking about taking the old drivers cushion and reupholstering it. I can find all the new foam and the upholstery on line. Total cost, about $300. It would match but that is hard to swallow. I will just keep looking.
  22. Did you do an APPS relearn after having the batteries disconnected? Might not be the problem but easy to do.
  23. My pick up is in the basket with a kit from AD.to replace the in tank pump. Still working flawlessly after 7 years. Lost a pump but never the pick up. There is more than one way to pick up the fuel but I have no experience with the DS. My pick up is only 3/8".
  24. I still have the oe steering box and power steering pump, both working fine and and not leaking. I have run the the stock 265's with the alloy wheels. Mine does see mostly the highway and not much off road. I did replace the ball joints and steering components about 170k ago. A couple of the tie rod ends were getting worn and I just replaced everything. I do need to adjust the steering box again and the ball joints are starting to get a little play in them. So i will be digging in for another rebuild when I have time. For now I am still happy after 420k.
