Lets see who you are!
I come from the land of tall people. Brothers are 6-3 and 6-7, baby sister 6-0, daddy at 6-5, momma at 6-0. Their first born, my sister, is only 5-6 go figure.

Loss of throttle
Your are probably feeling the affects of a new pump delivering the fuel properly to the injectors. An old worn out pump cant do it like new one. As far as hearing the pump, alot of folks talk about hearing it. Me I cant hear mine unless the engine is not running. It does not seem uncommon to hear it from what I have read.

Lets see who you are!
Walked into an event last Saturday. Not unexpected but still a surprise. Here is the new member of my family. From L to R, wife JoAnn, me, daughter Lisa, new SIL Denny, new inlaws Dennis and Gayle. Made for an interesting weekend. Seems I was the only one who did not know which camera to look at.

2007 5.9L or6.7L?
I think both. Anything after an 02 is pricey. The newer the more pricey is how I understand it. No personal experience.

Methyl content for water/meth

High idle switch kit 2 part question
Smarty and the dealer for sure and I just read here in a thread some Cummins shops can. I dont know first hand on Cummins though. As far as mileage, you are not bad at 18.5 on stock truck. The two things that I found that increased mine were the addition of RV275's and then an Edge Comp. I can now get 19.5 to 20 on any tank full on a pure highway run at 75 mph. Prior to those mods I was seeing maybe 17 or little above at that speed. Not sure how the new Quadzilla is working out in the mpg area.I dont think anyone is seeing losses though.

Methyl content for water/meth
Just so you dont fell ignored, I dont think anyone here is running water/meth injection. This is the first mention of W/M I have seen here in a long time.

valve cover
Mine will be here when I get home this weekend. i'll post up some photos of it. Yes you can work on the top end without removing the engine. @CTcummins24V is a typical under hood picture. But while 5 and 6 are a little hard to reach it could be worse. The only thing I have ever done on mine is change the injectors and adjust the valves. Never pulled the head but several here have. But I will say I can see much more of my engine that you can see of yours. 5 and 6 look easier on yours to get to. That is a nice looking job you have done with it, hope you get all the bugs worked out.

Cleaning sensors with oil change?
I cleaned my map and iat sensors once about 6 or 7 years ago and it made no difference then and have not cleaned them since. Pretty much a myth, thats why I cleaned mine the one time.

Anyone know what these connectors are or were?
Thats what I was speaking of when I said inline. whether one is inactive or not I dont remember.

Anyone know what these connectors are or were?
The data link I plugged my Comp into was an inline 3 prong female plug located about midway on the block, drivers side. If thats the same thing you all are speaking of.

Going to look at this tonight
Even if I down size I think I would stick with the fifth wheel but you never. You are right about the weight. I am right at 15k Dont get me wrong I like a fifth wheel. Mines about 15k loaded. It handles well. The 13' of height will catch some wind but no white knuckles driving it and I average 11 mpg. I try for 65 and under. Just bigger than I want now.

Going to look at this tonight
my first one was 28' and the current one is 35'. The only real difference I noticed between towing the two is the weight and when it is windy the 35 footer blows around a little more, but it is about 1.3' taller that the 28 footer. I would however like to downsize. Kind of tired of dragging that big sob around.

Loss of throttle
Does it have a new computer? you dont want a used one. Warranty? Check these also. https://dieselautopower.com/1998.5-2002cummins/fuel-injection-pumps/ Vulcan performance has them too. I would check around a little and maybe save some money and heart ache.

HELP 02 Cummins DTC
I believe the Raptor has a pressure regulator you can turn the pressure with. It its up all the way the pump is most likely shot.

to good to be true
I had already swapped my passenger bottom for the drivers bottom about 3 years back and it wore fast. The rubber thing on the hinge is almost gone and I had worn a hole in the back of the seat at the outside hinge and it is starting to spread. All starting to get a little uncomfortable for the long drives I am making right now. Pretty lucky to find them especially at the price and condition.

valve cover
I remember someone here who had one of these and some seemed interested in them. Then I stumbled on the this today if anyone is interested. https://www.hoeslidiesel.com/collections/1998-5-2002-cummins-24-valve/products/cast-aluminum-valve-cover

Lets see who you are!
Age wise I would say there is nothing typical. I see your youth and others and my 65 years and others maybe older that me, we all love em. Not sure what is typical around here.

to good to be true
My seats are getting in pretty bad shape and I have kept my eyes open for something for replacement. Found these Saturday morning. https://greenville.craigslist.org/pts/d/98-01-dodge-ram-2nd-gen-truck/6281653808.html Just to good to be true. I think I could sell mine for $75 on Craigslist. Any way I called him and sure enough he had sold them. Told me he had another set but I thought he told they were sold also. 2 hours ago I get a phone call from the same guy telling me he was home and had pulled the second set out and cleaned them up and was hoping that i could get there in 30 minutes if I wanted them. Fortunately for me I have friend down his way and he went and paid for them for me so I can pick them up next weekend. These are what I have. Got them for the same $125. My cab and hopefully my arse will be thanking me.

ECM oddity
I am thinking that this was more of the issue for me. While working on the truck I was contacting or jiggling the connections that were and are my problem.

Loss of throttle
Have you checked for any DTC's? I would not just a guess at buying and ECM or a VP without something else. As you say they are both very pricey, and ECM's are very iffy unless you know who to but from. Not sure any one here or elsewhere knows who to tell you to buy one from either. I definitely don't unless it is Cummins.
