  1. Nothing much out of the normal down here in NC. A typical hot humid summer. Not bad today but cloudy and occasional rain with cold moving thru.
  2. Same here Mike. Its funny that idled it for hours the latter part of the week and took 2 trips with no issues. Then this am it glitched in less than 30 seconds. Only difference is it rained on and off yesterday thru last night. Maybe something is getting wet that should not. I will keep digging.
  3. I drove to work this morning. Fired her off and went to grab a couple things out of the wife's car. While doing that the truck shut off. Fired right back off. Forgot to check the WTS, just hit the starter. No codes were set. So I took off. I the first 4 miles it cut out for a split second but kept on going since I was moving. Stopped for coffee and decided to go for it. It did not miss a lick the 60 miles to work. Checked for codes and none were present. Whatever it is, its still there.
  4. I did find two on the back of the headlight bucket up high. I did not notice one down low but seem to remember one . I was doing this while dodging random thunder storms today. That did not help much. Have look better tomorrow. I still dont think this is an ECM problem. Sure hope so anyway. I dont want to go down that rabbit hole again.
  5. I am no engine expert by any means but the failure I experienced and many others here all failed from the inside out and not outside in. I cant say I have ever noticed the head gasket out of mine but never paid that much attention.
  6. After reading this I figured I would jump in since since I seemed have been mentioned a couple times with out my knowledge. H'mmm. Anyway my moneys tied up in the company's 401k for now. I should changing that in the near future. We dont have alot to choose from other than mutual funds, Vanguard. I do have a balance that is a good bit higher than I thought it would be just 3 years so I cant complain that bad. But I do need to get it under my control soon. I have some of my money in cash, maybe 1% a year. Some in bonds, 1.3% there. Whoo hooo!!!! The rest in equity funds. Got a lot to figure out here very soon.
  7. I pulled the battery tray and this is all I could find. A beer bottle top, a 20 amp fuse I lost when truck didnt make it work and a piece of shrink wrap. The only ground I found was on the battery bucket with 2 wires going into the engine wiring harness I believe.
  8. Albert freaking Einstiens!!!
  9. I still cant help but think all you need is the switch, relay, fuse, and wires to lamps from that connector. You could get the wiring out of a salvage yard or make one yourself.
  10. Here is mine. I assuming the connetor is the one circled in yellow. The line highlighted in yellow go to the bulb sockets.
  11. I have to believe it is directly under the battery tray then. I have stuck my hand into every nook and cranny I could get my fingers in. Cant swear it needed it, I just know it got one quick flush.
  12. Quite an undertaking there. And the end product looks very nice. Where did you source the lower dash panels?
  13. I dug into it a bit yesterday and checked a couple grounds, the one at the kick panel drivers side and looked for one under the drivers side battery but could not find one. Do the 02's have that ground there? I did find one on the drivers side head light bucket with 2 wires on it. Both were clean and corrosion free. Idled for a while no issue. I had to run out on couple errands yesterday, more on that in a bit, and drove the truck and she never missed a lick. Both about 10 mile round trips. I hoping that maybe messing with them did some good and were maybe the problem but we will see. Going to mess around with it some more today and see what happens. I am driving the truck to work tomorrow. I spent a good amount of time researching the issue on the internet and did find some folks that solved the problem with grounds or wire connections, a minority for sure but enough to hope my ECM may not necessarily be the issue. I never did find anyone who tried running the cluster test like I did when the WTS light was dead. But it has worked the last 2 times it happened. The funny part of the day. I needed to change the oil in wife's Chevy so I drained the oil and while it was draining I was working on my ride. After a bit I go to put new oil in the Chevy and realize I have the wrong oil. So this was the first trip I took in the truck. So I get back and put the oil in the car wait a minute and pull the dip stick. No oil on it. I scratched for a minute then look under the car as the last dribbles of that nice clean oil drain out into the waste oil container. And thats where my second trip in the truck came from. Just another double dumb arse day at the Ripley garage. At least the truck ran good.
  14. I would have to agree with @LorenSon the the diagram above.
  15. Sorry Jag, I am at @Dieselfuture's house helping to keep the coolers from overloading. Them damn chickens can run all they want. Makes the legs bigger.
  16. I am not sure what the difference between the 2 are. But I would think most any good sealant would work.
  17. I sealed the outside of mine with the gray stuff and it has held just fine. Get it clean and oil free and it should work fine. Oil free is a must for the silicone to stick.
  18. Plug it in and see if the cargo light comes on when rotated all the way up. Might just be an aftermarket short coming.
  19. it could affect you for a generation.
  20. The damper has 2 tick marks on it that should line up with each other. I never could see them until I got it off the truck. I cant see them in this picture though the old one was starting to loose its rubber. Hate that when that happens. If you are lucky like me you have the upgraded case. The outer part of th hole for the KDP is smaller than the pin and prevents it from coming out. Me, I would just look at everthing I took off and replace anything thats iffy since you are in that deep. But I am also of the mindset of if it aint broke dont fix it crowd.
  21. I would think if you have the factory harness behind the bumber that the other wiring is there. Very much like the wiring for heated power windows was there when I upgraded from manual. All I had to ad was the hvac control with the heated mirror switch plus the adjustment control on the drivers door. All the wiring and connectors were there.
  22. As far as the rockers go, at the time of my hg replacement it appeared at the KW dealer the 2019 rocker assemblies were the same as the second gen, though I could not get a garauntee of that. Mine came out of an 2012 6.7 and were Indentical to my 02 except for the newer oil groove and passage cut into the trunions. The new ones were reasonably priced how ever.
  23. I remember buying my 02 back in 01 worried about engine. Between the service techs and the owners manual they both said load it up and drive it. Good thing since I had strap my 12k 5th wheel to it and drive to NJ from SC. 537k miles later the only thing stopping it is flakey ECM. Of course l think things may have changed a bit in 20 years.
