How to get the most from your exhaust brake and service brakes.
i have a Banks on mine. one reason for the choice was i already had a banks quick turbo and power elbow. install was simple. remove the elbow and install the brake in its place. when cold cranking the engine the brake will come on and help with warm up. thats a plus. but after warm up you must get above 30mph for the brake to operate. once above 30 i will engage and stay on until 15 mph providing you dont touch the throttle. if so it will disengage until you go over 30 again. this is alittle aggravating becaus e i believe ther are others that dont do this. might try to figure out a way around it one day.as far as braking goes ibelieve it works as good as any of the others but i dont know because i have never driven another one o these trucks with a differant brand on to know. on my most recent trip with the fifth wheel i weighed 22.7k and the brake greatly inproved stopping ability. it will slow the truck on its own with ample breaking distance. i came over the Blue Ridge Mountians and the only time i had to use my service brakes was when i got stuck behind slower traffic. once slowed i let the ebrake do the work. ther are other folks here with differant brands and i am sure they are happy with there's. except for the 30 mph thing i am happy with mine.

Got the Fuel Pressure back up on a stock pump
times were alot better when i bought alot of the stuff i have so i understand where you are coming from. i ment no disrespect. as i have said before you have to take what you learn here or anywhere and apply it as you see fit because no one can care for your truck as you can. sounds like you have it under your watchful eye.

VP44 problems - Getting tired of the BS!

Got the Fuel Pressure back up on a stock pump
the screen might have had some debris in it causing a drop. the stock pumps are capable of delivering a decent pressure for a stock truck but you dont know for how long. just another reason to have a fp gague then you can see when it is starting to fail. i personaly would not trust one on my truck even with a gauge.

1996 Dodge 1500 - Looking for MPG's
well it looked like a carb in the picture. my wifes dadota has a throttle body but it is set up much differantly than yours. it is a 4.7 and averages maybe 14 in town and 18.5 on the highway. she is only 4-10 but her right foot is as big as mine. i will be interested in wher this takes us.

Newbie with problems
i would have to agree with you. dont want the payment and i am perfectly happy with what i have. as far as driving this one another ten years this is the place to help make that happen.

Brakes
post #1 says drums. you have to go stand in the corner again mikey, how do your brakes work on a paved surface? i would think if i was going down a dirt road i first gear and applied my brakes they might lock up too. with the drag from the engine and being in 1st gear it would seem to me very little pressure on the pedal would lock them. just down shifting mine will break mine loose a little on a dirt or gravel road.

Banks Ottomind not working and no gauges...
well i just dont know. i guess you will be at banks mercy tomorrow. i dont know why mine worke at all without the ground under the hood was broken except for maybe the other ground under the dash. goes to show how much i know about how these things work i guess.

Banks Ottomind not working and no gauges...
the instructions i have are version 8.0 and figure 5 is of the turbo. there is an exploded view of the wiring harnesses, high ram, turbo etc. the ground wire is the first wire coming off of the harness. it is not mentioned in the instructions, but there is one on mine. i had it off just a few days ago when i was trouble shooting mine, i had it grounded to the frame work under the knee bolster.i also have the ground at the fuel canister. i am not sure what version of the instructions i used to install mine. i down loaded these off the banks site a couple of weeks ago. i just figured if mine had the ground and the new instructions showed the same one that yours might have it too.:banghead::banghead:now i am getting a knot on my noggin.
