  1. not a thing wrong with that. i got a leaky evaporator and figure i will just take it all out and replace whats worn out and clean up what is left
  2. ditto on both of the above replys. if the truck is running what is it doing that made you check the codes?by the way welcome. you have found the right place to keep it running good.
  3. mine is doing a similarly good job also.
  4. 1693 is letting you know you have a code in the other computer.the 216 is your vp. not agood sign for the vp.look inthe 24v errror codes listed in the forums for more detailed info.is the truck running?
  5. i'd like to know what he is looking at. i have to go into mine sometime in the near future and really dont care todo it twice.
  6. which does your have Mr. Rogan? ckp or cmp?
  7. reading the 01 fsm it shows a camshaft positioning sensor and not a crank sensor. i did a search for ckp and all it came back with is a cmp. i know my 02 has a cmp.is it possible youneed the cmp?
  8. our thaought and prayers here also. just for the record this can happen anywher. it happened to me on a golf coures. off a similar imbankment and landed on my side. the only thing pinned was my putter. sorry to say it did not survive. i was lucky though, i landed on outcropping of rock and not the asphalt which was another 12 ' below the rock. it took a while before my brain stopped bouncing around in my head, but not quite that long before my brother was laughing at his dumb as brother. all ended well for me as i hope it does for your friend.
  9. i am sure that has a lot to do with the cost.
  10. i googled those things. let me know if you find one for less than $2k. i like the idea, but the cost??????????
  11. if you install the full AD or fass they come with fuel filters and alot of folks do by pass the oe fuel cansiter and connect straight to the vp. that is how my intsructions told me to do it. some may install a raptor and a fuel filter head and by pass it also. i for one installed the ADII and went thru the oe canster but did install the big line kit from vulcan.i tapped my fp gauge into this line. i also wanted to keep a tap open at the vp so i could hook up my test gague in case there was any question as to the accuracy of my fp gauge. not saying this is the best way to go. i am just saying there is more than one way to skin a cat or in this case feed a vp.
  12. i have been a member here for not quite 1 1/2 years. it is by far the best forum of any i have been to. i came here with a truck i was about ready to get rid of and today i have one that runs better than it ever has. a little is due to upgrades. the rest is due to all of the help i have received here from all of the people that know more than i.i came here after spending many months at other places trying to solve my problems and finally took it upon my self that i knew more than the people i was tryng to get answers from. that was mostly because i was being ignored. i bought an ecm and got it back on the road. it was then i found Mopar1973Man.com and the vast wealth of knowledge that all of you have shared with me. i have never been somone who is afraid of taking things apart and putting them back together, mostly with reasonable succes. the diesel was a complete unknown to me and i was leary of it. alot of the stuff is the same but the unknown will make you stop and think, should i tear this apart? well yes you should is what i found out. since joining i have done the following,(some things i had never done, and some i was not sure of);rebuilt entire front endinstalled new fuel systemnew to me nv5600(that was exciting)new injectors and vp44valve adjustment(that was a new one for me) several small things i would not have thought off in the times i am going thru right now i had to learn to save the money, but would not have tried this much with out all of the guidance i have found here. my tuck is running better than ever. i cannot believe that 1 1/2 years ago i was ready to get something else and move on. i now have the confidence that this truck can and will last another 10 years. all of this is because you folks are willing to share info and help guide anyone thru what they need to do. whether they do it themselves or just need to know so someone does not rip them off. what i have learned here has also allowed me to return that to other people who are in need of help with there vehicles. that is a good feeling for me and i am sure it has been for you all. so her is a big:cheers::cheers:to all the members here. be you learnig or be you sharing. The Chicken Man
  13. actually there is a plug you remove to use the barring tool. i just dont remember where it is, but the starter would not have to be removed.
  14. i rotated the engine using the nut on the alternator. i had to push on the belt a little to add tension but iworked fine for me.
  15. the ones i have been buying definately have no problem opening. they cant seem to stay closed long enough to get to operating temp. the one in here now seems to be working good after the trip over the mountains.it wasnt before the trip. it is holding better temp at idle and hits operating temp. it still fluctuates a little. we will see how well it works when it turns off cold here in tennessee.
  16. were you seeing wild swings like me? what did you replace th oe with?
  17. are you still getting the high boost readings you mentioned earlier? if the map sensor is bad i have read it will make your truck run crappy.. just thinking out loud here.
  18. sounds like mr. murphy was looking over your shoulder for that install.
  19. well i dont know what to say. the funny thing is when my ground came loose my gauges still worked. the tuner was not functioning properly by the gauges worked just fine. there are alota folks here with edge and i am sure they would be more than happy to help you. good luck.
  20. Have you checked for any DTC's?
  21. mine was not fluctuating when it first opened. it did all day long. th only time it would not swing was idling. it just dropped to 155 to 160 and styed there until driving a gain. then resumed its fluctuating between 165 and 190, up and down, up and down. maybe that work out it got going over the mountain did something to it. think ill boil the next one before i put it in and see what happens. i got a couple of spares.
  22. i have been thru cheap and expensive tstats from napa, advance, auto zone, and finally orielly's at $27 with the same results. a couple of them woould work right on and off but never for long. the orielly's is in now and when i took it over the mountains it got worked pretty hard. once it hit 215* going over from th east side which is a 6% to 8% grade about 7 miles long. since then it has been working very well. it still fluctuates between 182 and 188, but mostly stays around 188 which was the norm for this truck when it was new:hyper:. i sat here idleing the other day in 45 degree weather at it stayed around 180 the whole time. as long as this one stays in the range it is working in i am just going to leave it. if it goes whaccky again i am going to buy the cummins$70 and see what happens:shrug:. i did replace the radiator cap a while back and it helped for a while then it went back to fluctuating. the cap seems to be working properly. it holds pressure and the resovoir does go up and down. i dont kow if that has anything to do with it. i think i even changed it again but do not remember:shrug:. with any other vehicle i have had that had this problem a new tstat always fixed the issue. just not on this one.
  23. kinda hard to se 5* change when your swinging 25* to 30*.
  24. brake line wrenches are helpful on the injector lines at the vp. but not absolutely necassary.
