  1. yeah I saw apicture of one on a linkd here somewhere with the case off of it. looked like a beast to work on especially with my limited knowledge. never taken atranny apart in my life.
  2. i run 80 when towing and 65 when empty. also keep acheck on tread wear
  3. the dealer does not sell the bushing alone. the tranny is off but i wont be alble to see it until this afternoon.
  4. welcome. you will find just about anything you want to know here.
  5. did you build your own or have them do it for you? i dont think its something i would have the time or the knowledge to do. --- Update to the previous post... the mechanic told the plastic bushing was good condition but ther were some metal shaving on the top of the tranny. do you have totake the whole thing a part to get to the bearing inthe rear of the main case? i saw a thread a while back where someone bought the plastic bushing seperately for a buck. i have only seen them with the shifter assembly

  7. you know a reliable source for parts?
  8. i appreciate all of yalls reply. ive never had any trouble with this tranny untill this sarted about 9 months ago. replaced the master cylinder about a year ago. gonna due the slave with the clutch. its accting up a little. no problem wit gears grinding and for the most part shifts good, even now. looks like we are just going to have to open it up and see whats in there. i have seen alot of replacemnt parts at alot of websites. i am afraid of cheap knock offs. do any of you know a reliable source for parts?
  9. it has just recently started cpming out of 6th probably 6 times. my hanes manual says that something is loose in the clutch causing that. idont remember what. nothing is pushing on it like 1st and rev.
  10. i am putting a new clutch in my 02. i will have the tranny in my hand. it is pushing itself out of 1st and rev. when backing up or pulling forward, when i let of of the throttle something is pushing it out of gear. you can feel it in the shifter, like i was on the otherside pushing it out of gear. has anyone had experience with this? --- Update to the previous post... is it possible for a bad pilot bearing or input shaft bearing to cause this?
  11. i tink the clutch will go well. my worry is the tranny.

just built a discount tire in lowesville about 8 months ago. who you work for?
  13. well old blue runs again. the ecm was the culprit. dont think i would go the rebuild route again. this is the second time this one has gone out and it is most inconvenient. gonna let them put my clutch in while he has it. keeping my fingers crossed we find nothing else worn out when it comes apart. i am worried ther might be something wrong with the tranny. i will know soon enough.
  14. thats the way togo. mysystem has a banks big head set at 35 psi. thats where the ottomind comes in. the new big head is 200 bucks versus what you found. dont think you can beat that price.
  15. :iagree:its an inespensive thing to try. maybe it is a bigger problem, but you can run yourself crazy and spend alot of money chasing problem you might not have. it is worth a shot for $20.

welcome. Hickory is my home town. not there much but make house payments there every month. you will find alot of help here.
  17. i would agree with mike. i have a banks on mine with the ottomind tuner. with out the tuner it would generate over boost codes all the time. stock is where you need to be.
  18. $0.33 in 1969 when i got my license. used to get a bucks worth and ride all night. not to mention a windshield wash, oil and air pressure check for that buck.
  19. when i first got my truck in late october it was only 0.90 a gallon. course i think that was late october 2001:lmao2:
  20. i am getting 19 to 20 mpg on the highway and 15 to 16 mpg in town depending on how heavy the right foot is. been like that since it was new. i am running 265 75r 16s. that makes a bit of differance also.
  21. mike and russ i have to agree with what yall are saying. every vehicle i have owned has worked that way except this one. it has been like that the 9 years i have driven it. any time the temp gets to 25 or below thats how it does. the tstat in it now is brand new. when others have worn out in the past it gets worse and i change it. and it goes back to what i stated before. when i first drvie out in the morning it will top out at just over 190 and then drop back down and match where i am driving.
  22. highway driving i reach 185 t0 190. in town i cool to 160 to 175 even whith a new tstat. i just in stalled a stant 190. what type of tstat do you use?
  23. i had one set of coopers. they were gone in 40k. they were not that much cheaper tham michelen about 20%.
  24. thru all of my problems i could never find any one who could tell me of any way to test the ecm. the local dealer told me to bring it in and they would go thru the process of elimination to find the problem. all i could see was a lot of cash flying out of my pocket. that ende up nhappening any way.
