Brake Light?
my seat belt ight comes on and off sometimes. started about 3 years ago. figured it was just the switch and have nevered worried about it. does not come on as much as it used too. there is another switch on your emergency brake. pull up on the pedal and see if it stops. it might not be returnig 100%.

Truck Jump Starter/POwer Supply and Compressor
it takes alot of air to get your tires to 80+ pounds. that one will never come close. i have a 5gal pancake compressor 110 volt that goes to 125#psi that will barely inflate the truck tires. takes forever.

Air Dog Raptor
after posting i looked at a cutaway view of an airdog 100/150 and it appeared the fuel paases thru one filter then thru the pump then thru the second filter. the first filter for large debris the second much finer. would it be bneficial to do the cat filter the same way?

Air Dog Raptor
is it best to install these filters before or after the pump?

I got one with my pump from blue chip diesel, $8.95 extra. did'nt realize it was 5 point though. thats still pretty pricey i think.

exhaust brake
I think i spent $2500 on the stinger plus and their power elbow($250) to make it 4" all the way. that was more than piecing it together from different manufacturers. alspo bought it straight from banks which made it a little higher than from a vendor. the exhaust brake price was in line with other brands though, but i did not buy it thru banks. the stinger has served me well:thumb1: so i hope the brake does too.

exhaust brake
thanks prowler. I checked it out. looked like a good product, just was not sure about clamping it into the exhaust system and it was $300 more than the banks. I went the banks. it just bolted right into my exhast sustem. took me about 5hrs by myself to install. seems to work very well, but wont know how well untill i tow my trailer. that was on my to do list until the water heater gave out at home. my choice was; wife happy with working plumbing or david happy towing trailer. david lost. i appreciate your input. --- Update to the previous post... thanks to all of yall for your input. i am curious of something. I see all kind of brands being used here for many different applications. am i the only one usings banks systems? i have had very good service from my stinger plus i installe 5 years ago. that is another reason i went with the banks brake.

Choking at highway speeds
:badidea:i cut my wires out of pure ignorance and will be worrying about them from now on. repairing something like that in a rest area on the interstate at night is not any fun. Just thought he might have a connection issue causing the problem. his problem sounded almost identical to mine. I hope to repair my wiring better in the near future. Had i found your website sooner no wires would have been cut. I learned more here to 30 days than i did anywhere in the previous 6 months. by the way, my mom and dad would have been proud of that lectrue:nono: you gave me.. i promise to never do it again.

Choking at highway speeds
I had a similar issue going home last weekend. 2 days before my CEL came on and i had a tps voltage low, can't remember the code # though. all was running fine and the cel went off later. figured i would check it out better when i got home. on the way home while maintaining a constant speed, the throttle seemed like i was feathering it on and off just a little, though i was not moving my foot. accelarate and it would go away, sometimes for 15 miles sometimes 2 miles. A while back i had alot of problems with my electronics and ended up splicing some of the wires in tps harness. got to thinking it might be part of the problem. pulled into a rest area and pulled the wires int the harnes and sure enough one came completely loose. the light blue wire with black tracer. Made temporary repair and had no more issues. the only time it did it was at highway speed, never did it around town. could just be a loose connection in the tps (apps). hope this helps.

where do you buy your fuel
i have only seen bio at a couple of places here on the east coast. Might have been more but i have not been looking for it. I have not had any problems( knock on wood) with fuel from folrida to new jersey. ususally buy at a truck stop if possible.

exhaust brake
i am all for saving the cash. i will do it myself if my next job is close enough to the house and the clutch holds up. other than the 1st and reverse issue everything is working fine. at 217k i figure the clutch might be getting a little thin. right now i am working about 550 miles from home and only get back every 2 or 3 weeks for a weekend. i could git-r-done in about 5months like that:lol:. we sill just have to see how it goes.

exhaust brake
The damage is pretty obvious. i would like to do it myself but my job keeps me on the road tomuch to tackle this one. just trying to arm myself with info so no one takes advantage of the stuation. I have heard alot about crappy gears on the marketand i don't want to end up with any. i believe you can still get good bearings and syncro's though. i want to drive this truck another 9 years, just want to do it right the first time. your help is appreciated.

What rotors
I replaced mine about 3 years ago for $75 each. I don' remember where they were made, the local brake store provided them and I had to have them or not drive. My job keeps me on the road most of the time and i find myself at the mercy local shops more than i like. the rotors are holding up just fine though.

exhaust brake
actually i can't. the internal looks like any tranny i have seen. I would like to get mine right and would like to talk intelligantly I am sure ther is something to learn in this but your going to have to teach me.
-
exhaust brake
kinda thought that. Thinking about doing my clutch before it goes when it wants to. while i have the tranny off i want some body to go thru it. if the gears are good would replacing the bearings and the synchronizers be what i would be looking at replacing? The trany is jumping out of 1st and reverse when it is not under load. by that i mean it will stay in gear while under throttle or coasting with the rpm up. just trying to gain a little knowlege so i am not completely ignorant when i discuss this with a shop.
