  1. i have used rotella since my truck was new and never smelled a thing. I know my ears and eyes are bad, hope my nose isnt going also.
  2. mine was only $20 bucks at napa 6 monts ago.but if it ait broke just splice the wires back.
  3. for me a well written set of instructions with photos works very well, and i dont mean a haynes manual. my son and i replaced my vp with great instructions and photos in 4 to 4.5 hrs from start to engine running. there are other things i would like to do in the future that a video would probably be a great help. seeing how it is done before actually doing it would be invaluable. i know when i am under the hood or the vehicle and alll greased up the written instructions are easier to use than running back a forth to the computer. but i am all for anything that helps any of us. thats my:2cents:worth. when my grandfather bought his families first car back in the late 20's he took it home, parked in the barn and completely disassembled it and reassembled it before allowing any one ride in it. he just wanted to know what made it tick. no computer, no written instructions, no photos. my how times and technology have changed.
  4. i am not sure icould name 20 species of bugs. there ususally pretty mangled when i see em.
  5. x3 i have found more useful info here in the past few months than the 9+ years i have had this truck. the willingness of all to share the expertise has made my life much easier and saved me money. just alot of good people helping oneanother out. cant beat it.
  6. I will be doing the same to my truck in the near future. did your truck have an in tank lift pump? the ad165 comes with a kit to replace it with. is this the tube you had trouble with? my truck has the in tank pump. look foward to seeing your pictures.
  7. i am just assuming here, but there wasnt a dodge dealer in the middle there to f@#$up your dream?
  8. i have changed a few brake pads before. just never heard of rotor metal on the pads. i just bought a rebuild kit for my calipers and ther aint much to them. that will be one of my profects when i get home. only problem is i have 100days of projects and 7 days to get them done.
  9. i am averaging 18 here in tenn and nc. like i said i have only had my bhaf for 2 months. not enough time to see any differance. i will admit the breather looks to be a very good product compared to the k&n i have been running.
  10. congrats to you also. good luck on your future education. it will take you a long way.
  11. i am going to bury myself with all of regular maintnace guys here. i have 220k on my truck. i just put my 4th set of pads on the front while rebuilding the front end. still had a fair amount of wear left on the pads. just replaced them since i was in there. my rear pads are original. just about gone though. still have the original fluid. it is pretty ugly though. the whole point is if you are getting 13.5k out of a set of pads there is something wrong or you are getting pads not designed for a truck as heavy as you have. i'd check into that one. any way to sve a little face here, when i get back home i am going to replace my rear brakes and rebuild the calipers. while i am at it i will do the fronts too and bleed the whole system with NEW brake fluid.
  12. lots of good dicusion here. I have no heat sheild on mine. there still has to be air moving in thru the original intake hole for the stock intake. even idling at a stop the fan(for those of us who still have one:lmao2:)has got to move enogh air to keep the under hood temp from getting to high for the intercooler to overcome. are any of you running a heat sheild on yours? i think i will stick with out one and see what happens this summer. i live in the south too with 100* weather and plenty of humidity and will just see what happens. no differance in performance = no heat shield. i dont have any extra sensors to measure the data with, but if i cant feel it my arse or at the gas pump, I think i am good to go.
  13. 3.80 here in western tenn. today. up .30 in the past 3 days.
  14. i dont know. i just put one on 2 months ago with no heat sheild. it is still to cold to tell. it has got to draw warmer air in the summer. but just how hot does it get under the hood when you are driving? i am going to see what happens in the spring and adjust for the summer.
  15. i too have experienced warm up problems. replacing my tstat did help. replacing my radiator cap made a world of differance in warm up time. it oant help your heater but your engine will love it. Mine was the one that came with the truck in 01, just never gave it any thought.
  16. welcome, you will find alot answers to your questions here.
  17. a good breaker bar will get the nut off. you can loosen the bolts on the hubs, take the socket and put it on a short extension, place the socket on the bolt, have someone turn the steeering wheel slowly and let the extension wedge against the axle. apply presure by turning the wheel. you should be able to see the hub start to seperate from the steering nuckle. keep swaping bolts to push it out slowly. if they have never been changed they will be stuck in there pretty hard. once you break it loose it should come out. if all else fails get a bfh, a bowl of wheaties and dont be afraid to beat the s&!t out of it. you arent going to hurt it. get alot of antisieze compound for reassembly. getting it out is the hard part.
  18. i wondering to mr. flynn. im saying 967k. just trying to see if i can make another good bet tonight. good luck, good mileage.
  19. turns out the guy was talking about the wiring harness thru out the truck and not just the engine wiring harness. i am back to $75. i beleive i confused him. not hard for me to do.
  20. well itold the guy on comp d i wanted the wiring harness he had for his $75 price. asked how much with shipping and he said how about $250. i dont think i will be buying it.
  21. what is the switch you are flipping on and off?
  22. up to 3.49 here in tenn now. no #1 just #2. come to think about it, the prices are all #2:spend:.
