-13*F cold start and 3 cylinder high idle
@pepsi71ocean Up here you can do your own 50/50 blend of #1 and 2. A lot of pumps have the 3 diesel types right there. 1, 2 and Offroad. I have run straight 1 before with lots of lube when there were stretches of heavy sub zeros with no issues. Howes has treated me well for an anti gel but I’ve used power service as well. There is the “winter blend #2” here but I and others prefer to mix our own. The neighbors fuel barrels for the trucks and equipment are all 50/50 mix. The fuel company mixes it for him. He has zero fuel related issues in the winter.

CR Injector failures and upset owners
My experiences with cr’s First hard start followed by rough idle injector/s are shot. Get all replaced $$$$$. Dont let symptoms persist. Injector prices were main reason I didn’t look 3rd gens when looking for a new truck

Best or better anyway cruising rpm
That's 4.10's. My trucks from 265-285 tires in 6th going 70 is 2k ish rpms with 3.54 rears.

How well does your truck pull 8,000 pounds
Correctamundo as thorough as we can get. I replied to that post but my experiences are from a different animal. Sad thing is Marco was so involved in the beginning and I give him a lot of credit for doing what really could not be done at that time frame. You had Jim Jessup's ECM's and that was it. Plug and play boxes were all a similar rehash then. The TS MVP is the only thing that comes close or stronger to how the smarty feels. But that box coming on at 7lbs boost is downright hateful.

Replaced Stock Injectors With RV275 Injectors
@pepsi71ocean good on you man for that article. That is a lot of work and testing for a plug and play that almost everyone craps on now a days. My take on it from a manual transmission stand point. 1. The Smarty is not dirty. The drivers right foot is dirty. It fuels heavy off idle..yes....very. I had/have a video somewhere of an off idle snap with it. I had 3 job offers from the mosquito commission after that. As I will say to ad naseum......learn how to drive it. Learn how to drive it. These comparison videos with smarty vs whatever taking off and the smarty belching....well no kidding when you fat foot the throttle from a stop. High fuel...low boost....may the smoke be with you. Anyone been around long enough to remember that one? The part about useful rpm range I never saw in my manuals. The Smarty S03 is only good for use really between 1,200 and 2,400rpm's, but this is the area your truck is using the most. I frequently wound shifts out to 3 grand. And it was pulling the entire time. This was vs the EZ that fell flat on its face driving at 2300. The dyno sheet argues otherwise but my experience is different. The other post about towing 8000 pounds....the pulling out and passing in 5th with a skid steer and mini hoe on deck was with a mad ecm. And I mean passed with authority. The smoke control. All right foot and your noggin. I never flogged the throttle at under 10 lbs boost and for the most part minimal smoke being spiritedly driven. You get a good fart thats about it. Smash the throttle in 4th going 30...your blocking lanes. Even my fueled little truck.....I didn't play until 10lbs. Things cleared up rather quick for the most part but that truck doesn't count. I would love to drive an auto truck for a while with smarty just to see the differences Keep up the good fight @pepsi71ocean

How well does your truck pull 8,000 pounds
People don't still understand the REVO and it has been out for HOW LONG? That has been one of its biggest drawbacks. All of this fun stuff was just thrown in your lap with someone saying have fun. Period. There was no breakdown anywhere that I have seen of someone from MADS (preferably Marco) going through every setting step by step saying this does what and this is what should happen. I messed with it when it was first available but just went back to 9. I could see the REVO settings being nice for an auto owner. But for a manual, 9 and run it. This being said, the MAD ECM with timing was the rawest/most aggressive version of smarty 9 I ever dealt with. I regret selling that ECM. A TST COMP and that old ECM....whaaaaaaaat. Manual of course. I have always been a smarty fan since day one and as far as I recall, the only one that has dyno'd that setup and posted it so much.

Engine stumbles
@pepsi71ocean Current truck stock with DAP injectors only. No electronics. Old truck was a myriad of combos but final one was DFI 100's,Super B, Smarty 9, TST Comp Little fun truck was Dragonfire Pump, DFI 6x13's, Edge Juice Hot, Smarty 8, S366 over HT4B. All manual transmissions. The DFI trucks with the Smarty idled flawlessly.

Engine stumbles
All I have are injectors. No electronics. The other trucks were straight smarty 9 and 8.

How well does your truck pull 8,000 pounds
@pepsi71ocean You are going to have to give me a bit. BUT, I do have a dyno sheet with the different smarty levels, however they were with 150's and a superB. As I recall, the differences were not drastic. Aaaaaand, that dyno sheet is busy. Just to forewarn you. As I said in @Tractorman's post a bit ago, the smarty is all about your foot for the most part. That being said, it's awesome you are getting this done on an auto. @pepsi71ocean hope this helps.

Replaced Stock Injectors With RV275 Injectors
You have a manual. Smarty and manual transmissions are like peas and carrots. Run the truck on 9. You should be able to wind shifts out to 3 grand if you want. I did all the time. I monkeyed with the settings once REVO upgrade came out but always went back to straight 9. You are quite under 350 hp with your combo. I mean WELL UNDER. I ran that for a while and loved it. Your EGT's will never be an issue with an hx35. I am assuming/hoping you have a clutch, SB or Valair. That's kind of the weak link here. Since you have a manual you control it with your throttle foot. I drove with the side of my foot. You roll into the throttle not fat farmer foot stomp it. You should feel a "dead spot" to tickle through but maybe not anymore after software changes. Only in hot/humid conditions when I had 150's I would start playing with the levels as things had the potential to be obnoxious. If your clutch is not stock put it on Kung Fu 9. You're not going to hurt anything unless your clutch is stock. You will learn how to drive it.

Engine stumbles
Just a question. You guys having the issues, what are your idles like? The reason I am asking this my old truck with ddp 150's and current truck with DAP injectors, the idle was/is erratic. I always attributed that to a little more fuel. You can hear it but doesn't register on anything. Now, my old truck with DFI 100's and my old fun truck with DFI 6x13's were utter sewing machines. Flawless idle. Aaaaand the fun truck was beyond heavily fueled for a 24v. My current truck with the DAP's will idle ok for a while but then gets scribble scrabble for a bit then back ok. Similar to old ddp 150's. Another question. How did this issue start out? Was it it gradual then got worse? Or full blown somethings wrong? The reason I am asking this. I have started noticing a sensation when not driving on cruise control that is similar to driving into a head wind that lets up for a bit then you get hit again. The fuel pressure is usually fine but that damn FASS pump is another story. It does not do this on cruise control so I am thinking something apps related...hopefully.

-13*F cold start and 3 cylinder high idle
A little spooky the first time you hear the 3 cyl idle. One thing the video does not convey is how loud it actually is. lol ETA - High idle and exhaust brake on is bar none the best engine warming there is besides an Espar. God awful noise, but the motor builds heat.

How well does your truck pull 8,000 pounds
On another note regarding the Smarty. My experiences with it have only been manual transmissions. It allowed me to run my shifts out very nice when needed, past 2500 rpms it was still pulling. I learned to roll in the throttle so I could drive it relatively smoke free until I had some boost built up. For me it was a huge improvement over the EZ drive ability wise. That being said, I have read over the years that the smarty and autos didn't play nice so this is just my experiences.

How well does your truck pull 8,000 pounds
Correct. The red is mad ECM. Now. Why the difference rpm wise I don’t know or recall. To me it looks like when the run started recording. Ill have ave to go through other dyno sheets with different setups to see if they are like that.

How well does your truck pull 8,000 pounds
The Mad ECM was smarty 9 except not quite as refined. When Marco came out with the Smarty I got it and just ran it on 9. I never had any issues towing heavy. I loved that combination. Eta- As morning coffee is taking hold and I’m thinking here (this was well over a decade ago) , I only ran rv275s with an edge ez and mad ECM. I got the smarty in 2007 when I moved to 150s and super b. Like I said, the ECM was the straight Smarty 9 setting. I found an old dyno sheet in my archives comparing the 2 set ups. The “toe” box was bd’s rebadged ez. ?

How well does your truck pull 8,000 pounds
My old 2001 with rv275s and mad ECM/smarty was a pulling animal. More than once I had 20k on the deck (mini hoe and skid steer) and I could pull out and pass people in 5th and be up to 70 yesterday. In 5th gear...trucks pulling hard. I never ran 6th unless actual speed limit was 65 mph. That combo was bar none my favorite towing combination. More than enough juice for whatever you needed and you didn’t need to keep a close eye on the gauges.

No traction on the boat ramp! What!?!
Tire compound plays a huge role too. Michelin LTX's for example. Great tread life. Hard compound = good tread life. I had to have 500+ lbs in the back during the winter for traction. Tires floundered on anything that wasn't dry pavement. Never again unless free. Cooper STT's. The first iteration. Holy crap. Toyo Open Country M/T clone/knock offs. I ran zero additional weight in bed during winter with these. Stuck really well to snowy roads. Ridiculous traction. A friends wife and kids were stuck in a bad part of Minnesota with a flat. Bad part. Fortunately a friend and I were passing through there. Got up to vehicle and I pulled in ditch. Got tire changed quick and left. I put truck in 1st, let out clutch with no throttle, and I felt the rear dig in and the front raised up. I came out on three wheels. Pretty neat. So compound along with size also plays a big traction part. It is a trade off. A friend had 285 10 ply Interco Trxus M/T on an F250. Those were crazy sticky. Treadlife wasn't stellar, but traction on crappy roads, dang. Eta - My tire pressure formula. I put a line of carpenters chalk down in front of the tires. I drive over it and adjust tire pressures until there is chalk across the entire face of the tire.

I Thought the Truck Looked Crooked From the Rear
Lol. Yay Minnesota winters. 4 hrs total for both sides. Only had to blue tip wrench one bolt. Truck actually sits higher in the rear now. The old school 70's Chevelle rake that I remember is back.

New SO vp44 in HO truck, doesn’t feel the same
I had really good luck with that and 6x13's in the little truck. From what I have read it was a crap shoot on getting it to be civil. I ran stock lines and .120 crossover tubes. That pump is something I would absolutely not recommend for daily driving though.

Morning Pic For Today...........Post A Pic around your place.....
Nice!!! i encountered that Friday morning leaving for work. Dog being underfoot foot should have been a clue. As as soon as I hit end of driveway the ditch grass was flat and I was dodging airborne tree branches. I then hen rain into quarter size hail which sounded like I was in a drive by. Sky to to West coming in was a freakish looking green. Awrsone drive into work. I called the neighbors to grab my dog and bring him with them. Perrennial garden got plowed. Got a new phone for the camera. Been driving the dog and cat nuts with it. Some flower garden shots. Up at the houses.

No traction on the boat ramp! What!?!
Boat ramps are slick. You need to pull the lever for some traction. My old 2wd would sit and spin on wet grass in the yard.

I Thought the Truck Looked Crooked From the Rear
I think I know when it happened. Was 3 weeks ago. Trucks been driving fine.

Treadwright Remold Tires
Understood. Sorry. Western - things went a little sideways, got crazy. He said the hind end of the truck would start skating back and forth when he got on it in the rain. Which for a cab and chassis, some torque, and rain was to be expected. An adjective I picked up from another lifetime.
