Is it me, or do I see more Duramaxes running away than other diesel vehicles??
Yep and then you look up each morning and contrails are literally covering the entire sky. People die from that stuff every day.

Thanks Great White, well... if the turbo bad enough to leak it may not matter. Then again, no oil means it may throw bearing pieces in the intake. Is that what you mean?

So having an oil shut off valve on the oil line to the turbo won't work on our 24 valve 2nd gens?

Mystery 19.5" wheels solved
I know Alcoa says 120 and I think that is what I'm doing but cannot remember exactly. It also most important to every once in awhile scrape that interface of the mating surfaces between the wheel and the hub so corrosion doesn't build up. I have heard of guys not being able to figure out why their aluminum wheels won't stay torqued or tight. Is because every time you rotate or get new tires you need to scrape off the mating surfaces on both wheel and the hub. That slight build up from unlike metals has to be kept to a minimum.

Those are very high quality and PacBrake is a good company. I don't know what they are doing to insure the two screws don't go loose and sucked into the intake. I think Michael Nelson could look into becoming one of their dealers for this site. Thank You AH64ID Michael needs more sales to help take care of MoparMom.

Good thought. Like a thin slide guide that bolts in between grid heater/ intake tube. Have to be good seal so no whistle or leaks. Or something that fits in place of the intake boot.

Mystery 19.5" wheels solved
I had a tire shop refuse to put my Alcoa/Ford wheels on my truck. They said you'll have to take them back home and do it yourself because the lug nuts arent able to go on far enough. I got home and counted the number of full turns. Each one was grabbing a full 8 turns. Made some phone calls about this and everyone said it is fine on that size stud. Mine are torqued to 110 ft. lbs. hauling a 3000 lbs. camper for 11 years on long trips and never a problem. This on a 3/4 ton. This is just another opinion, but from several phone calls to tire shops also.

Forgive me for a silly question, why can't a shut down butterfly be installed in the intake tube that you can pull closed with a cable control in the cab?

They got to use the brick and locked story to hide what a leaky turbo it is. Or as they say at the beer counter, ''what a piece of sit it is'' Right Dripley?

Mystery 19.5" wheels solved
I think Alcoa is a very high quality company and maybe the only one producing forged wheels for the American market I'm glad to be able to help and that truck of yours is a very lucky find.

Mystery 19.5" wheels solved
Yes the close up does look like its a forged wheel. Hard to tell at times... even the color of the aluminum is different, but once you study those characteristics you will begin to see the differences. Don't ever let the wheel balance shop put wheel weights on the outside where they can be seen because the unlike metal will cause discoloring in the wheel coating and oxidation to the aluminum underneath. I turns a white milky color in the coating and won't come off unless refinished. I request that any weights be placed on inside of the wheel using brake clean first and then apply the sticky stick-em weights. They have been okay so far for a lot of years.

Mystery 19.5" wheels solved
Those might be forged wheels rather than cast. The metalurgy changes drastically between the two types of wheel construction making the forged wheel far superior, so much so that they cost almost 3 times the normal cast aluminum wheel on the market. To get educated on forged aluminum wheels go to Alcoa website. Their video shows their forged aluminum wheel to be even superior to steel while tested under pressure in a press. They do take a minimum of special care, explained on the Alcoa website. BTW, the aluminum wheels that came stock on the 95-97 Ford 3/4 to 1 ton trucks had the Alcoa forged wheels.

Mixing Grease
So I won't loose sleep by cleaning it out, that's what is best at this point. There is a lot of them incompatible on IBMobiles' chart. Like what Katoom said, I've only heard about those two types as well. So it is surprising to see the chart with about 40-50 percent of them incompatible.

Mixing Grease
I put marine grease in my grease gun to grease a clients water wheel bearings. Is it contaminated now so that I need to clean out my grease gun before using my regular BJ and tie rod grease? Any answers related to chicken grease will be disregarded . Thanks in advance

Morning Pic For Today...........Post A Pic around your place.....
Thanks DieselFuture, I know these guys were doing that also. Three of them working together. The one alongside was to be the witness I suppose. One car cut in front of me just touches the brake lights and another with almost no room cuts in between us and hits the brakes harder. I know it was a scam because it was clear in front for at least a Quarter mile and could get going. All this while I was on an on ramp going merge speed of the traffic in the first freeway lane.

I'm a contrarian.... I bought lifetime supply of incandescents. My electric bill is only averaging 100 a month. CFLs are a swear word and never disliked something so much. Sorry Dripley

Glad to see you getting this done early in the game. Could be a real bruiser this winter as we have not had one for awhile. Just knowing enough wood is in makes you feel warm and fuzzy. I was buying my wood when doing overtime but dog gone.... even the neighborhood wood cutters shorted the loads of a full cord both times I had them deliver.

Ground Reference VP44,ECM,PCM,PDC plus TC lock/unlock
Both my trucks got lucky. I went thru my screw/ bolt bins and found only two, one for each truck. They tightened just fine. I recommend screw by hand to see that it goes all the way without binding, making sure they are the right threads and length. Some out of my bolt bin would go about 2 turns and wasn't right. those would strip and be a real problem.

is my vp44 shot
I know there is a way to hot wire the vp but it will only idle. It at least tells you that it is something other than the vp if you can get it to run that way. Hopefully someone will chime in about this. Or it might be in the article data base

Ground Reference VP44,ECM,PCM,PDC plus TC lock/unlock
Thought I should mention that I just got done today with W-Ts wiring mods on my second truck and the results are the same as the first one with AC ripple cut to less than half of what it was. Very happy with the results. Thanks to you W-T

is my vp44 shot
I was hoping for the best for you. I just replaced my VP last week and it went well. Mine cut out on the road with no warning. Check engine light came on and code reader said 1688 no communication between injection pump and ECM.

is my vp44 shot
Mine did that when I didn't seat the factory filter cap properly. Air kept going in and then fuel would fall back to the tank back nothing but air. I hope yours is as simple.
