  1. The only things I've done; Trans Temp and fuel pressure gauges. Mag Hytech Trans pan.. IBM's Mystery switch ECM housing battery ground. Timbo Apps. Vented fuel cap. Tank access plate in bed (not recommended). Greasable lower ball joints. Heavier PCM ground to firewall. Vulcan big line kit, draw straw and frame mounted lift pump / relay 2 stroke in every tank. Future mods W-T,s grounding mods.
  2. I know what you mean, I've noticed more of the same thing lately with SUV's pulling too large of a trailer. It's scary, you can readily see the trailer is boss and cannot be controlled if something goes wrong. What's different about the cars now a days that causes that Mustang to go to pieces like that?
  3. Dripley forgot the chicken roticerie over his exhaust manifold. Even got a 'Chicken Done' gauge on the dash.
  4. I mentioned the Timbo because anything needed future wise anyway, helps narrow down what might be wrong. If a shop told me the ECM may have taken out the VP.... I might be thinking about taking my truck somewhere else at that point.
  5. I found out if you let the doors go loose for too long it wears the hinge pin hole also so that the bushing kit work well and bushing won't last long either. You will be buying new hinges which are expensive
  6. Bap, while you are making an investment into this truck for future I want to advise you to install a new TIMBO apps. Im not saying factory apps is causing the issue, but more likely than an ECM that your shop is saying. Especially since the Timbo is so much more reliable and half the cost of the factory APPS, it goes hand in hand with a new injection pump.
  7. Nick I agree with you, but by what process can an ECM take out the VP44. I say unlikely almost impossible
  8. Mike you always have a better idea , but he also said he already upgraded to a Fass ddrp. So why didn't Fass set him up right with everything thing else needed?
  9. Yeah, you need to get off the ECM power for the lift pump. ECM should only be the trigger for the relay to kick in the batteries for the lift pump power. Otherwise you can burn up a component inside the ECM. Lift pump is too much load going thru such small electrical items in there. Lift pump is very dirty with A/C voltage noise too. Harmful to electronics. When the lift pump gets old it creates more load also. Vulcan Performance parts has an inexpensive wire harness and relay. Basically plug and play that comes with the big line kit from them.
  10. Dripley, if someone catches another guy full of BS on this forum don't you give out free chicken dinner vouchers for Chick Fil-A.?
  11. Fuel pressures should go no lower than 14 psi or like Moparman says, ''your causing a slow death to the VP''. The problem is the fuel lost the lubricity these injection pumps need when they changed to the new ULS diesel, so you need to dump a qt. of 2 stroke w/ ea tank, or about an ounce per gallon. The minimum 14 psi pressure is to fully open the return fuel flow valve to get maximum cooling to the injection pump by returning as much heat and fuel back to the tank as possible. A couple things; I think you need to eliminate all banjo bolts with the 1/2 inch line kit from Vulcan Performance parts. Also relocating the lift pump closer to the tank, more how the lift pump is designed to push fuel rather than suck fuel. Also get the lift pump power off of using the factory ECM power lead (can burn up the ECM) by using a relay to get power from the batteries instead. Welcome to the forum BTW, there are good folks around here.... Some on a big power trip trying to squeeze triple turbos in there but they all....all good folks on this forum. Did I say all? Yeah that's right!
  12. Welcome to the forum. Hopefully your build goes smooth. Check the articles for fixing ground issues in the 2nd gen wire harness. Interesting mod for added reliability. Articles section is very educational for upping the reliability score of your truck in general. BTW, are you using 2 stoke oil in ea. tank of fuel? You have to do that or you get your head chopped off around here. lol
  13. If get into requesting information from a particular company while trying to solve a problem, I always get their full name. It seems to make them sit up straight, listen and put some effort into helping me. Asking for your information might be a security thing concerning vehicle security, just so they have a record of the phone call.
  14. I have found this also, if you can find out who is the tough part since the parts stores are usually quiet about who they buy from. Sometimes the manufacturer can tell you. Sometimes the wholesale distributer is under contract not to sell to outsiders etc., but occasionally I have gotten lucky.
  15. Musta been a really hot day cause I see his jeans layin there too!
  16. Dieselfuture since you laughing so hard I'm giving you an assignment....... you have to come up with A key FOB delete switch . What can we do both my trucks have that! So just to go in Safeway I gotto pop the hood get the wrench out and disconnect the batteries?!
  17. Don't know if this is pertinent, but Source Automotive couldn't understand how I got around 425k miles out of an original Getrag 5 spd trans. All I did was change the oil about every 50,000 using regular 30wt engine oil ea. time.
  18. JAG1 replied to Dodge2k's topic in Introductions
Yep, Dripleys A/C voltage dropped after the mod. Pretty significant too. I think he's getting ready to build another restaraunt. Welcome to the forum BTW.
  19. That's whats interesting...as it seems its the temps of the dirt that keeps us cool. As in Spring chicken?
  20. I avoided knocking on any type of wood this time around. Even got a woodpecker in the act, he only pecking my aluminum ladders.
  21. Dripley you must get to camp sometime and teach me how to do 'beer can chicken'. All I know is its not the one where your apprehension to do wiring causes you to drink more beer. lol
  22. What is interesting is the suns' angle at noon time now is the same in mid summer in August. I'm guessing it's the temperature of the ground in the northern hemisphere, still cold from winter, that keeps spring cooler than summer time.
  23. That is a cool result showing how important this mod really is. Thank you Dripley I hope others report their A/C noise before and after as well. BTW, you did not seem too chicken to do it...lol. If nothin' fries then your good to go.
