Like to see a storm like that if my truck was under cover I would. Do you have any pics of large hail on the ground?

What is the "BEST" engine oil & filter to use and why?
I don't trust K&N filter either as anything that you have to be so fussy with in order to make it perform correctly is asking for trouble. We bought a used Subaru a couple years old and brought it home only to find the intake dusty with an oily residue. Yep sure enough....it was a K&N. I hate to bad mouth anyone or any company but this thing was not right when you can run your finger down the intake tube and feel the oil and dust. It was fun to frizzbee the thing in the trash can.

Fuel Injector Install / Removal
I've learned how by reading the article about replacing the VP44 injection pump. Removing the high pressure lines is pretty easy, but, you need the crows foot or fuel line wrenches. They will be a big help. 19mm fits the top and at the injection pump. My lines were so tight going into the head that they were going to strip using the open end, but the crows foot got them loose in a hurry w/o a problem. Be sure and remove them in racks of three or you will have a confusing mess going back together. 1st rack is 1,2,4 second rack is 3,5,6. you just remove the bolts holding them down to the intake manifold. and they stat together in threes.

Unfortunately I have to put my old headlights back in
I do have a lot of faith in these trucks if taken care of. Its also an advantage to have them a bit older to where you can find all the information about their weak points and be proactive about reliability. I have two second gens because of a small construction company I own... sometimes owns me, but hearing about the newer stuff causes me to want to hang on to them.

Just be careful out there I know these folks were attempting to have me rear end them. It was a concerted effort. I am certain of it

I know what you mean Leety I avoid crowds and waiting in lines like the plague. I love seemingly forgotten roads and highways. Will spend extra days on the road just to see nice places... give the lonely grocery stores/ towns a little of my business.

I like to use one of those filter wrenches that are a rubber strap. I guess its called a strap filter, easy to get it around the filter and better than the fight getting around the air conditioning parts near the bottom of the filter. Also I never tighten new filter more than just a little more than hand tight and it never leaks. Be sure to fill new filter and spread some oil on the new rubber gasket. Also very very important to make sure the old filter gasket came off with the old filter. Once I had the old gasket stuck on there and put new filter on only to loose about 7 quarts on the driveway. It leaked and pumped that much out in just a few short seconds.

I'm not perfect either but I'm also not so hateful nor evil as what I saw yesterday. They were fast, skilled at trying to make me rear end them and in the lane next to me a blocker so I could not merge out of their way. Keep in mind I was going a good merge speed to zipper my merge perfectly. with no one in front of me in the on ramp. Its funny I also got the feeling that someone or something was going to try to harm me in some way or sue me. Something was telling me to be careful. I thank God.

Silver what signs are you getting that your VP is going out as those mileage numbers aren't to alarming? BTW, are you running TCW3 in ea tank full?

Are you guys getting this new generation of brainless drivers? Man I tell ya, its like you don't even want to go to town anymore. Really though, brainless ain't the word... more like evil antagonistic drivers. And I notice it's the young people. They so deliberate about their way, it like the only thing worse would be to purposefully hit you.

ECM OR VP ISSUE
See if you can get a hold of the invoice for the VP and get the warranty to go with it if P/O will do that for you. Feul pressure needs to be above 14 all the time to keep the VP going.

CFA is a good company. You always hear good things about them. AT&T took 90 days to pay me on a small bridge restructure. They signed my contract that stated I was to be paid within 30 days too.

Dripley, do a lot of your Subs follow you to each job? I'm wondering because its tough to get contractors now. I know it would be a tough one around here anyway.

What’s the weak link?
I found the lift pumps, even the ones from Cummins to be inferior quality from what the original was on these 12 valves. I kept finding the linkage broken inside after about 100 -120 k miles. The original lift pump from 1992 is still good and built with better hardware. I finally had to put a fuel pressure gauge on the old girl to watch 6 p.s.i. needed for the VE. I've since sold this truck though and love the second gens.

Even though I just replaced the VP and runs nice and smooth. I'm pretty sure my truck runs even smoother after W-Ts electrical mods which I did the next day. So smooth it grabs your attention.

2001 Dodge Ram 2500 BUCKING ISSUE
Just wanted to be sure as I saw you mentioned grounding not the charge wire.

2001 Dodge Ram 2500 BUCKING ISSUE
In thinking about this problem, I'm wondering if it is possible to have an old sensor that could be affected by an even acceptable level of AC voltage noise? This why I like W-Ts' listed modification to remove the big charge wire from the harness running across the front and disconnect it from 10mm bolt in the PDC. Next is to run the charge wire a shorter distance to the passenger battery positive post. The idea here is to run any AC voltage noise thru both batteries, which act as filters and affords less chance of affecting sensors or sensitive electronic circuitry.

See it does suck to have an automatic. After changing the VP44 and doing W-Ts wiring mods in the last few days it is time for a rest. Grass needs cutting. Happy Fathers Day all you Diesel Dads

Ground Reference VP44,ECM,PCM,PDC plus TC lock/unlock
All I can remember was the level of AC noise was exactly right on the margin. Whatever that was and now its showing .021 A/C volts so it might even be better than cut in half. All I can say is like what you say, ''it was well worth it''. Makes a guy very happy to make progress like that.

Ground Reference VP44,ECM,PCM,PDC plus TC lock/unlock
The old VP I was pulling had a loose key. Took a pencil magnet and got it before I did anything else. New VP went very well no leaks and runs very smooth. I helped a lot to dab the white paint on the key. Interesting note; Just got done with W-Ts' Grounding mods and running the B+ charge wire to the passenger battery. Basically did everything on his list and my AC Volts are cut to less than half of what they were. I'm happy because it was really worth doing it. I used all copper wire marine grade wire and parts.
