  1. Interesting wil440. somehow the weather has flip flopped as Oregon used to be one wet soggy state. Our trees are really on the brink, some already dying. I ran a sprinkler on an old tree, most likely over 100 yrs old. It was so stressed by the looks of it. Weeks later it is perked up a lot and nice and green. I must keep irrigating since it makes a big difference.
  2. Somehow they figured out how to use a legitimate or reputable website and when you order the money goes to a hidden address and you can't find them. I really don't like electronic money transfers anymore. I refuse to do any more orders online. My neighbor just today tried to make a reservation for a weeks stay at a major hotel. He just knew it was legit but, they got around 700 bucks charging twice for taxes and service charges. never got a confirmation is what alarmed him. Yep, and no room reservation for him
  3. And you don't get what you ordered. Just happened to my neighbor for around $700. Happened to me 3 weeks ago, never getting the item, I called and they said I was about the 36th person to call that day with the same complaint. they figured out how to get your money by having a known secure website for a store and routing the money to an unknown location. Im out 60 bucks and waited for a new card is all. So Please Beware!
  4. @wil440, are you having a major lack of rain like we are? Out here in rain country we've only seen around 6 inches since March and I used to see a 5 gallon bucket left out get filled in less than a week. I used to see that many times throughout the spring. Oops subject deviation... sorry had to ask.
  5. It's good you got a hybrid that charges batteries while running on petrol. I say this because I would not like having to rely on an electrical grid. It looks like out west we are going to be short on having enough electricity and is going to be a problem for our future.
  6. The fender (sharp edge) is on the driver side looking up from underneath. Kind of close to the window washer pump or there abouts. Look along side the boot there.
  7. Also no deteriorated distorted rubber mushed or sticking out.
  8. Take good look at all the intake /boots hoses, everything, particularly down low in front of drivers battery. There is a spot you can see from underneath where part of the fender (sharp edge) gets real close to the boot down there. On some trucks it been found touching or rubbing. I think some boot leaks are like an innertube hard to see unless you know where the damage is. Anyhow I took pliers and bent the fender back out of the way on both my 2nd gens.
  9. I had to put a new Harmonic balancer on mine. You could see where the oil from a long overflowing breather bottle (PO) had deteriorated the rubber isolator ring in the balancer and it wobbled more than an 1/8th of an inch at idle. The new one from Cummins smoothed the engine nicely, but, it wasn't anything you could notice while running down the road only when stopped at idle. My plumber got in and we stopped at a light and goes,'' Dang this thing is smooth''. After a nice dose of 2 stroke and new balancer it sounded, still is, really good.
  10. I"m thinking the carrier bearing or U joints on the driveline(s). Also differentials oil levels but, I am tossing this out there for something should be checked periodically anyhow.
  11. I learned that working up on Mt. Hood. I have seen snow so deep you could walk right up on the roof. One coffee shop uses an 8 ft. diameter culvert to get to the front door.
  12. Lucky deal! My drivers side took awhile. Backing out the bolts a quarter inch and using the air hammer did not phase it. It mushroomed the bolt heads, couldn't get the socket back on. Had to file off the mushed out bolt head. The best is to use a grinder to make the steel thinner next to the mate surface so when you put a wedge/ chisel to it will peel/ bend away enough that it will hold the chisel for you to get a good hit with both hands on the mini sledge. Do that to both side and you will loosen it.
  13. Mine wouldn't come out with a chisel wedged in there and air hammer. Everyone thought I was running a machine gun trying. I had to cut/ grind the bolt flange thinner so I could bend and (PEEL them off). Finally I saw a little tiny bit of movement. That was a good moment and had them off not too long after. I coated all the mating surface with anti seize on the new hub bearings..
  14. Building a cover is best as you never know what a winter will bring. There are some heat tape systems for roofs made. A bit expensive but, would be great as long as you have power or a gen set.
  15. If it sounds like you are driving on slightly knobby tires it's most likely wheel bearings. On my 01 it was like that for six weeks. When I'd check for play there was none. Only when I spun the hub with my hand, wheels off, could you tell it was a rough bearing . Finding out that that was a sure way to tell, I checked the other side and sure enough it was bad too. I changed both bearings that weekend. I got them off only by pure persistent ideas and attempts. I had to learn a few tricks. I thought at 69 there are no more to be had.
  16. It okay, you probly sleep in it anyway and won't go in the house.
  17. That's right, they're in the tool drawer with all the other trans stuff. Thank you Dan
  18. I must be running mine down a bit too far at times when boondocking because I've never come close to ten years in the RV batteries. I'm still on incandescent bulbs which I like the type of light it gives.
  19. Yes he is and I have a customer that will loan me a tilt deck trailer if/ when that happens. I think the trans is really okay for now it just needs new sensors that 01_CUMMINS_4X4 showed. Thanks to all you guys it's good to have people that know about these trucks. Next trans service is due in 2,000 miles so it will be cooler weather then.
  20. Does anyone know if there's a way to tell if an automatic trans has been rebuilt? I bought at 190K now at 244K with no problems so far except lately it has been slow to go into 4th at times.
  21. That's a good result going 8 seasons. Mine are wet cells and go about 6 seasons. I tried to go 7 one time but, I had to have IBMobile pick up new pair of group 31's went he made a run to Walmart from camp. I am around 200 bucks every 6 years is the best I can do. I installed a Xantrax charger that has computer control. The rv converter went in the garbage at about 3 mos old. It was one of the old ones without 3 stage charge. How many seasons can some of you all go and what type batteries do you have? IBMobile may have a picture of Dripley's 20 year old batteries.
  22. @Mopar1973Man, It ain't funny at all It's down right stealing. Should have been 2 hrs at most at 150 an hour. That'd be the most it should be to do that. I've sat and watched my impeller being replaced on my Merc and took less than an hour. Another hour to flush, no big deal.
  23. Our temperatures have cooled considerably. So nice to go out and actually feel like accomplishing things... able to breath etc. It was so hot for so long I had to irrigate every nite just to keep trees along the road happy. Some where scorched from the 116 temps and not much rain (5.8 inches) since March. Highly unusual. Anyhow it rained for about a half hour last Saturday morning about 4 am. So nice to finally hear that... I wondered what the noise was for a moment until I realized. It was really great.
  24. we pay for the lubricity taken out and then go Walmart to put back in
  25. Better shut off the heat pump and get warm by splittin' firewood Mike. Unusual as things are the last 18 mos., we could be in for a real freezer coming. Think insulation, pipes, kindling, food stocked up and truck all maintained. We have a tree down going onto the neighbors property. Tomorrow we cut that up and split another pile that's been layin for awhile. We are doing it now because we could have an early fall with possible rains and won't be able to get in there if it's wet.
