  1. That's okay it's supposed to be that way. Existing return lines are fine. The return fuel flow helps cool the Vp44. If I remember correctly only flows about 18 gallons an hour I think that's correct according to what @Tractorman found when he ran tests and measured it.
  2. No it's just a fuel supply draw straw. The other barb needs to come out and just install a brass plug. Just leave the fuel return where it is because you will cause a slow deterioration of the vp44 injection pump with your fuel temps becoming hotter and hotter. Dumping the return fuel into the tank with the draw straw located elwhere gives the hot return a chance to cool before going back to the VP. You must determine the correct length to cut the draw straw, 1/8 inch above the tank bottom and then cut it at a 45 degree angle. on the bottom. I may sound like I know a lot.... Others around here have given up on me learning anything beyond what short horizon I have. I live on a small planet.
  3. Whatever you do, don't drill another hole. Just stay with the one you drilled. My draw straw is installed to both my trucks thru the tank lid somewhere thru that but, I cannot remember the exact location on the lid. It's somewhere in a flat area that allows the O ring to seal up . The fact that you drilled the tank and not the lid has an added benefit in that you do not need to move the hot returning fuel dumping back into the tank to a different location. This way your not sucking air bubbles nor hot fuel back to the injection pump. Neither is good running thru your fuel system. You may already know this. Getting back to your request... what do you mean 'doesn't fit when the housing is pushed down all the way'? What housing are you talking about? Second, why are there two brass barbed fittings coming from the new draw straw head? Never have seen that and should only be one?? Please explain. You must keep the stock fuel filter. That is very important. However you should add a primary water seperating filter before the lift pump to filter out sediment and other large contaminants before the lift pump can be damaged by them or emulsifying any water, like an egg beater, and the factory filter cannot then filter that water out of the fuel.
  4. Let us know the damage so those that want to buy it can get a discount off of the 80 grand they are actually worth. I say this because have you seen the problems with the garbage coming out of the assembly lines? Seriously though, I hope it's not damaged too bad. Can't tell from the pic.
  5. Thank you Mike. I'm not so worried now since that big cat was seen at another place with pictures about 3/4's of a mile away. There is timberland around 3/4ths of the 27 homes in this 'end of the trail' area. Everyone has blackberries around here. The nearest road behind me is 7 miles and it's a quiet rural road. The same timber company owns everything around and beyond. The one neighbor makes signs and now there is a cougar warning sign up as you enter our neighborhood. That cougar is a good patrol cat/ deterant for burglars who come in the night. I know of at least one other cougar that patrols around here also. They keep squatters out too. This way we never have to dig a grave for the looters or thieves.
  6. County biologist called and told me it is pointless to do anything about it because there are other cougars around that will just be there already. He said there are so many around my area but living hear 27 years it is only recent that I have seen the prints and actually saw one. The deer have not been around for 2 weeks or so and normally I see them come thru every couple days or so.
  7. Thank you @Tractorman. We shall see, with your great help of course. It will be nice to see you and everyone else again also. Nice photos too
  8. Hopefully this works for everyone that has showed interest. Our goal is to camp at Magone Lake May 13 leaving on the 16 th, giving us 3 nights and days of fun and friendly campfire. This is depending on the snow conditions for that time as we may have to opt for a lower elevation somewhere either out of John Day or Prairie City Oregon. @Tractorman is our scout and is willing to check out a few places for us before we decide. When I talked with the Ranger for this area she said we can camp anywhere really in the national forest as long as you see a fire ring and a large enough area. Generally we prefer campsites because of the paved roads and some amenities. I like to ride mountain Bike and ebike so the pavement and developed trails are fun for an old guy like me. IBMobile prefers an RV park if the nights are cold so we were discussing the one in Prairie City or Dayville. During the day we can take a day trip to Strawberry Mountain Lake or elsewhere and go fishing or do whatever you like. Dan and me have been camping twice a year for around 7 or 8 years and we always go off do what we like and then meet up in late afternoon. It's always fun. I think some of us are planning to go for breakfast at a nice country cafe, so lots of variety. Anyhow please let us know if your planning to meet up. That way we can kind of plan for everyone. So far we have 3 members that are sure to go @IBMobile, @Tractorman, @JAG1. We have 2 others waiting to see if this time works for them as well @Mopar1973Man and @W-T.
  9. Their biologist is supposed to call me back from Oregon Fish and Wildlife. May take a few days or so to get back. I will push for your suggestion @Max Tune. Thank you. BTW, I used to go out in the dark for firewood now I don't. Lucky the weather is not so cold and we only need one fire a day instead of two.
  10. Seriously, tho, do I need to carry my nine with me at all times when walking my property? It acts like it has regular routine around my house like it's his place. That is the impression I got. It even has a tunnel thru the blackberries near my house about 70 feet away. It goes down to the canyon there, where it has lots of places to hide down there. Should I hunt it down with dogs and take care of it? I'm kinda scared you know! I have to walk my wife to and from the car now. I been here 27 years and never worried a bit till now.
  11. Had an adult male Cougar out side my office window this morning around 10 am. Right next to my wood shed sniffing around. He didn't see me in the office as I watched. Luckey I came in the office with light off since He seemed to not be wary at all being so close to our house. He slowly walked around the house to the front and jumped thru a hole in the blackberries. Now my neighbor wants to go hunting for it since he has 3 little kids. Can't blame him for that. Me... I would rather learn to be aware at all times is all and learn to live with them. Only on sleepless nights, at my age, I have to ride the bicycle to help me get to sleep. Sometimes I need to ride at 1 am to help me sleep. So that makes me kind of fearful going at night. Any thoughts or experience from anyone is appreciated. Thank you.
  12. Try a new truck... in 5 years you may have a rolling nightmare. Ford is even setting up the ability to shut your truck down if you stop making the payments.
  13. A/C ripple is damaging to the electronic circuit boards, PCM, ECM, ECU and can cause fluctuations in some cases. Both my second gens seemed to run smoother, noticeable even when running at idle. Before and after tests of the amount of A/C noise reduction after doing the W-T wire harness modifications has shown a significant reduction in the electronic Sadam noise war going on and creates a cleaner signal thru much of the DC system.
  14. You may want to get the Timbo Apps replacement. It's a much more reliable Apps for a fraction of the cost. It was developed by a 2nd gen owner on TDR. Most important is to make sure that your turbo is not leaking oil into the intake, causing the runaway situation. It's usually due to worn bearing seals as oil is normally pumped to the extreme high rpm turbo bearings. This can cause a very dangerous runaway situation that can be explosive. Others will chime in with more.
  15. Thank you John for this inportant discussion and information. Important enough to know that 'Death Wobble' just isn't the wife dancing on your grave. Thank you.
  16. Story of my life... I always say there is no progress without delay. Mistakes made often reveal underlying problems and solutions. What I can never understand are those individuals who cannot understand this and would be bent on blaming me or my services while doing highly customized work. I get done and never go back is what happens.
  17. I think the oil filter looks a wee bit old, Just a little!
  18. Yep they had a bonanza and got hop sing too!
  19. Did you notice they got 149,000 in employee bonuses just before it failed. Somethings not right. Word is, it was a bank with woke policies and equal inclusion rather than good Biz sense.
  20. With the 2 recent bank failures, are most of you very concerned or only somewhat concerned about the future?
  21. Beautiful scenery there! Turn the clocks ahead but delay spring, possibly summer as well Lucky we didn't get hit like Ca
  22. Now Biff, don't lie to me!
  23. The fuseable link wires are the ones that feel soft and flexible in comparison to others in the same line or circuit. There is loom of wire coming out of the hard rubber block or connector there.
  24. I had a D250 1992 for 25 years that had a problem melting fuseable links. It's near the drivers hood hinge. They would melt when using the grid heaters, if I remember right I had to disconnect them. Those wires are so short coming out of a hard rubber block, I remember I had to cut open the rubber block to get enough wire to strip and replace the melted wires. This area is where I would look closely at. There are several wires all related to starting and stopping the engine right in there. You can feel the trouble because the wire insulation flakes off and is crispy, feels rough. Keep us updated.
  25. I hope this new equipment works out great for your company. Please be careful sometimes things happen when you least expect it. I'm old enough to know there are moments when your mind seems to drift while doing something and you end up hurt. Please remain watchful Will.
