  1. I am not an advocate of the political mandated aspects to climate change. I am just stating what I have seen in recent years, it's alarming but, I also hope to live long enough to see the weather begin to flip flop and compensate back to what it used to be. My experience (living and working outdoors for 40 years) causes me to easily get excited about anything forthcoming weather in the right direction. I'm still a kid... what can I say?
  2. Except I have seen extreme fire danger with unbelievable explosive conditions. I have to run 40 ft. radius sprinklers 3 of them 24/7 for three weeks each summer to keep my forest hydrated. The trees look happier, just like the old days of Oregon forests when the PNW was a cool climate. I think it will swing back again someday. Again it got so bad that we where forced to evacuate. I saw a hot dry east wind that dried out and curled leaves on the undergrowth of my forest land in just a few hours like they were dying. It was a real awakening. All the evergreen trees did a bit better until the 116 degree day that sunburned the whole half of some evergreen needle trees.
  3. I hope your right Tractorman, that we do start swinging the other way and trend cooler. I have been wondering since I have seen some of my trees burned on the sunny side, very unusual, all the way from top to bottom. Never happened before for 60/ 70 feet. It was 116 F. for the highest temperatures for that week. They say weather compensates so when you get a long hot trend, often means there will be a long cooling trend. Or a deep low pressure conversly means you will get a strong higher pressure. Therefore Mopar Man best get ready, I think it's coming.
  4. At least we get some promise of a winter Doubletrouble. I am very hopeful and thankful for any sign of winter coming as there has been very little cold so far. I thought it would help to know that it wasn't our first nor the warmest December ever too finding out that 1950 had the warmest ever. Makes me very happy.
  5. Mike it's time to get your bear skins out and bundle up like the Eskimo. They are predicting snow starting on the 6th. It may come with a lasting vengeance since the last time a mild December like this was in 1950 and the following January had lots of snow. In 1950 that December was the warmest ever recorded and our recent one being the second warmest ever, they now see weather patterns changing that bring snow. They do not know how much as it's too early to tell. Best to be prepared my friend
  6. Thank you John Tractorman for an excellent post. I think it should be a sticky in the 47re Trans article(s). Only thought I can add is to add a trans temp gauge and that you should not be running large diameter wheels/ tires with an automatic trans. It forces much leverage against all the running making everything work harder. Though I think you mentioned changing the Differential gears to 4:10's.
  7. Nice post above, Thank you Doubletrouble. I'm hoping everyone has a good and wonderful year this new year. I hope to run more of the beautiful rail trails and bike trails this year on my ebike with a good friend of mine that has one. He is in his late 80's and loves the trails also.
  8. Did my Son in Law's Brakes today. Finally got to the bleeding part so when sucking all I could out of the resoviour (sp.) first, it had a milky green tint to the brake fluid. Other than that it went well. Very warm day for Late December, rained off and on. When we went to have the discs turned he bought me fish and chips and a beer. O'reilly's got them done just about the time our lunch was over. It was a good day. Next Saturday we'll get to the rears and re bleed everything again.
  9. Remember Mike, life is what you make it. Staying interested is important. Ea. month day or week I look at a new problems that exist with my tool set up my trucks or my e mountain bike, my shop, anything because I love solving problems. Sometimes it means designing something and going to a fabricator or machinist or simply making something from what metals or wood I have here. Sometimes it's simple as changing the lighting or switches in my shop. What I'm saying is keeping goals and figuring out ways to solve them is about life. When you get old you get used to getting up to do something around the house or go out to the shop to work till your tired enough to sleep again. This happens a lot when your 72 and you get used to a common routine even in the middle of the nite. Hang in there Mike it does get better because we are designed to be able to bounce back.
  10. Thanks Doubletrouble, Merry Christmas to you and everyone from Oregon. Important to keep faith and love alive in your heart, not get caught up in our own understanding but, let go and let God

Would the voltage differences to each injector be caused by a bad injector solonoides? Some causing more electrical load than others? Is it more common, the first initial problem in a common rail fuel system is that bad electronic solonoids will show first from mileage a wear? I think it's true also that the ECM can be confused when fueling is incorrect to any one of the cylinders, it tries real hard to compensate by adding more fuel. I think this is right. Got off the phone with Mike after talking a little bit about this... not only is common rail electronic injectors so much more expensive it causes truck owners to try trouble shooting in every other aspect to avoid the expense of changing injectors. Mike says he sees this all the time. Some even continue to drive to the point of melting piston rings from over fueling. Resulting in an even more expensive situation where often the truck is parked indefinatly. Hope this helps. Do not buy injectors from Bosch. Get them from a reputable rebuilder that has them flow matched and pressure tested. Rebuilds will be better in this way and you'll avoid having to go to the Dealer to get the ECM reprogrammed to match the flow to each cylinder. I think all this is correct. I welcome any comments that can correct or further educate me. Thank you.

Didn't you mean 'ground it to the back of the gear case under the VP44 into the threaded bolt hole there? The size is in mm, fairly small, so you have to run to the hardware store and get one that fits.
  13. Mike do they make clothes with some inside pockets for this? Could you start making this product once figured out the best way?
  14. Hey I'm 72, I am entitled to new batteries once in awhile Both trucks have a prefilter water separator with a petcock drain . Got the lift pump changed out just before dark yesterday. Back to using my Raptor 100. Truck seems to have smoothed out in running at idle for some reason. I am now running a lower fuel/idle pressure at 10/11 instead of 19. We'll see what she holds getting on the freeway. Does a raptor lift pump run cooler and have less air entrainment or cavitation at lower fuel pressures? Dang I had the hood open and forgot to check what terminals I used on the alternator.
  15. Thanks Mike for this information. I'm going to look and see what I did to both my 2nd gens on this electrical mod. Taking today to work on both since the 01 Raptor lift pump also needs changing out. The Raptor 150 went 75,000 miles, still holds enough fuel pressure but, has bad bearings that are grinding under there. The 02 I made a mistake and left the ignition on for over a week, ran both batteries stone dead so I have to replace both batteries.
  16. You look better in the last pic. I am glad your going home too Mike. Don't be getting into a wrestling match with that problem bear again, you got to wait a few weeks.
  17. Your doing an amazing job that entails a lot of work. It is looking very straight and looks like it's going to be beautiful when completed. I love it and Merry Christmas.
  18. One trick I have seems to work well to helping me get better is a good steak, believe it or not celery and peanut butter and a nice cup of coffee those 3 things plus riding the bike. They might help you too when you get home Mike. The celery and peanut butter really helps a lot for some reason. Do you have someone to do the shopping for you?
  19. Mike your my bud, you have to stay healthy. We all love you in the right way with God's blessing upon you from all of us with our fervent prayer. When I was 3 days old there was a tumor blockage to one of my kidneys. They removed that kidney and the other one compensated by becoming the largest kidney they've ever seen today on x ray. I have not been around much lately having gotten older and trying to fight it by hitting the bike trails with my ebike. I modified a harbor freight motorcycle rack so I can go do 30 milers without any vehicles trying to see how close they can come to running me down. A few have done that. Crazy world! Anyway I did 28 miles the day after Thanksgiving on a beautiful rail trail. I felt weird, didn't know I had Covid except when I stopped for a water break (I use power level 1 for a workout) I suddenly had vision like everything was in cartoon mode. The next two weeks I was sicker than ever. I believe it is an engineered flu because there wasn't anything like this ever before in my lifetime. Please don't get the Covid it makes every existing condition you have worse. You cannot afford to get it Mike. I think they are releasing little squirts of worse strains and it acts like it is structured or even an engineered GMO flu. Been 3 weeks and I'm still having mild symptoms. I think they want a Logan's Run society.
  20. Mike do you have snow yet at your place? It very weird here since it's mid December with clear sky and 44 degrees F. Should be in the teens right now getting ready to snow but, I don't think it will this year.
  21. yep came off an 8.000 ft elevation to about 3,000 ft in just 5 miles. They were smokin'. I continued for another 14/15 hundred miles, a few days later almost made it home, just 30 miles away and one bearing blew, was riding on the caliper. Got towed to a repair shop for 300 bucks and they replaced for 450. When I got home I did the other side so both are the Timken bearings. That was stressful getting thrown over into the fast lane and then trying to crank it over to the roadside. I was lucky the way it turned out.
  22. Too warm to snow I guess, right Mike? I think it's supposed to turn cold soon. Looks like you have plenty of work to do!
  23. Nice John! Thank you so much as I just don't do Tick Talk LOL! Those are great. Wish I lived over there. That was a nice camp we had last fall... I'm already thinking steaks and gobbling up a whole carton of Ice cream again.
  24. You always show us what's going on in your mountain community with the weather and even what trucks your working on. So what gives?
  25. One more thing worth mentioning about the rodent and debri screens under the cowel, MoparMan taught me to also block the round hole on the passenger side... is almost straight down below the hood hinge. It's about 2 or 3 inches in diameter and can be reached with one arm down inside the fender. I simply rolled up enough screen to stuff the hole full and get it tight. You have to fold the screen and roll it up so there aren't any sharp wires to stab your finger tips while stuffing it tight in there. It works good and I know you have to do it because I had the screens like IBMobile but, a mouse still got into my heating and AC plenum under the dash. I had to trap the little bugger before I could block off the hole because if he died in there it would smell like something you never want to own. I took me two tries to get that mouse, was very skilled at taking the peanut butter and not setting off the trap. Once I got him he was mad as hell. Must of had it good in my heater plenum. I had to clean the nest out which was in the blower motor squirrel cage fan. I simply bought a new motor and fan to take care of it.
