  1. When I was young all I wanted to think was eat, sleep & read about decks, stairs, framing, house building, commercial building, anything about how to do most parts of a home and to think creative when problem solving. It all started from growing up in areas where the houses where always close together and my dad's dream of moving to the country had planted the same idea. Unfortunately, my dad never achieved his dream since he was killed in Vietnam at just 35 years old. One day though at about 21, something clicked and in spite of a stepfather who kept telling me I'll be nothing, I decided to sell my motorcycle quit fooling around and buckled down. From that point on I had a personal goal so strong that it paved a way for me to make almost every step toward my own goal of building a home on my own land. I finally reached that goal and I must say is the most satisfying piece of history in my life. I worked harder than anyone I know. You need to know your dream as it gives life meaning and helps gives you strength to stand up to the toughest. You eventually learn that easy and simple short cuts aren't always as easy nor as satisfying as you thought. Doing it right, owning up to all the uphill climb and solving them all/ mostly on your own is where it's at. If you really want something bad enough you do get there but, That's how you learn and become strong, is the real definition of success. I wouldn't really want to achieve a goal in life by easy. It would have far too little meaning.
  2. Aren't there shops that can custom make those? I'm not sure but, it may work to look at the parts available for the guys that build the twin turbos. There may be a section of it that with the right amount of turn or angle your looking for. If it had to be a precise turn and angle I might think about making a prototype out of flexible 3 or 4 inch dryer vent duct. It would have to be the corrugated aluminum not the slinky type stuff. Just want to say the corrugated aluminum stays put as long as you stretch it out before bending and you do not bump it. It would be stable enough to put tape over the custom elbow to sort of paper mache into holding shape. The 3 inch is probably closer in size also
  3. That's great to hear. If you dedicate yourself in action and words, the money part takes care of itself and becomes a true reward.
  4. I like W-T's name for our lift pumps, ''Peanut Whistle'' That's dang funny for some reason
  5. Maybe need to take a break and go do something different for a day or so. It's always good to have an outlet.
  6. What should we do? I ask because gold is like a stick in the mud, lost it's luster and doesn't move a whole lot compared to the current situation. Why is that? Or do you think investors are going to a monstrous jump on it soon. It will upend the Dollar and hurt a lot of people relying on paper.
  7. my 01 sometimes goes thru a period when the alarm goes on almost every time I unlock with the key. If I turn the key twice, so as to unlocking both doors, then the alarm does not go off. Have to remember to do this all the time. Then other times it never gives a problem and everything is back to normal. Sometimes I have to grab the key FOB kept in the door handle and lock and unlock the truck while sitting inside and then it will shut off and allow me to start the truck. Other gremlins is when the overhead will suddenly show 'CCD' but, always goes away on it's own without driveability problems. The W-T ground reference was done to both my 2nd gens and reduced the level of damaging AC ripple in both electrical systems. When I bought my 01 with 190 k it had the intank screens that were approx 2/3rds clogged with dirt. Both trucks have a primary filter before the lift pump on the frame, no screens anywhere but, both have the factory filter. It's a rare condition that sometimes the fuel tank vent can also get clogged and only once did my advice on checking for this proved me correct. Does not hurt to check by simply loosening the fuel cap when you get it running again but, this is most likely an ineffective idea compared to the issues I am hearing. I do not think you have an electrical problem unless it is inside the VP, I think it's fuel related. The frame mounted lift pumps come with a screen placed in the inlet side, unless they stopped doing that, I would remove it with needle nose, remove the in tank screens and install a primary filter that allows changing every 15-30 k miles keeping the system clear and unclogged. You need to do this prior to getting a new VP. the nice thing is not only possibly finding your problem but you've been given the chance to do the best for your fuel system. I did not drive either of my 2 second gen trucks until the screens were removed inside the tank and the inlet screens on the lift pumps. The Raptor 100 served me well until about 60 k miles started to show signs of weakness. By then I bought my O1 and install 150's to each truck. Both lift pumps are seemingly stronger pumps so far. By this time however, I have learned about Tractorman's return flow tests with fuel pressure with his introduction showing lower pressures are okay as long as there is pressure to the VP and having a minimum of positive flow of around 4-5 pounds. I mention this to not get off track but, to include his findings for another day of discussion. Right now your truck is more important. I have only seen one other situation of a no running condition from clogged screens. Owner was surprised when he removed the tank and found it clogged. My 01 was on its way to clogging eventually.
  8. Our dollars need to be backed by 2 stoke oil and diesel. That's what we got and lots of it. Biden is just saving our reserves for when OPEC runs out. Biden is very smart and doesn't know it.
  9. @Mopar1973Man, looks to me like two trucks are involved? Or am I seein' it wrong?
  10. Very good article, thank you Mopar1973Man
  11. My wife would rather take the truck than her Subaru even when we go out to dinner. She loves my 2nd gens
  12. I forgot about the blue tarp wind breaker we set up. It worked pretty well even for a redneck photo shoot backdrop.
  13. I got no excuse... I still haven't posted up the pics from that trip, what a bad bird I am! Will do that this weekend. Be fun to see anyway since it still a lot like winter outside.
  14. @Mopar1973Man , do you think you could try to help this guy? He's gotten no response for 6 hrs. Anyhow he has no working gauges except the tac and I know the trans is controlled by the PCM, could these two symptoms be related ? If not, what about a bad speed sensor in the trans ? Any other sensors that might be the culprit? Lets try to help as we all know what that's like to be stuck. Shot in the dark... A bad connection or pin on the PCM . Many thoughts come to mind like crank sensor, shifting cable adjustment, APPS. Anyone? Prayers from Oregon that you find it and is a simple fix.. We lost our prayers emoticon... what's with that?
  15. You know, that's a good question and thank you because I have never tried it. Any long term use effects that you know of?
  16. . John when out scouting maybe look at one or two that aren't so high up. There are lots of places around there. Wise to go on your recommendations .
  17. You got my attention on this as I get a 'CCD' on my overhead about every 2-4 mos. and it goes away without any symptoms at all. Keep in mind that a bad starter can put a tremendous load on the entire electrical system. I once had 2 newer batteries draw down to nothing with just one short try with the key to start.
  18. @jlwelding, I hear ya', it's the price we pay for being human. Sometimes I'm ready to slide breathing tubes to hold the gates open. It's just impossible at times. One night they stayed open so nicely it was amazing breathing was oh so easy. I had forgotten what it was like. I am ready to grind up mint leaves and inhale that if it would work.
  19. Yes I do! I dread going to sleep at night. Some nights okay but, most are bad. I do nasal washes and have a room air filter. What helps is to have coffee if a real bad spell and stay up reading or go into the shop till they open. The coffee seems to help. I'am pretty sure that they did the reduction too far back without studying where the trouble is. It's too bad because it's cause other problems. I was better off before without a constant feeling of having been bopped in the nose all the time. Many people I talk with are saying the medical system is not so great anymore.I really feel like never going to another doctor ever again. Just like when you find out, even though you are a novice, finding that your own work is far better than even recommended shops that caused so much trouble on your truck. Thanks for asking.
  20. John, Thank you so much. When do think is a good time to expect we would have good weather there ? IBMobile is thinking seriously about going along with his and my good friend Glenn. Glenn's folks are in Idaho anyway and Dan is wanting to see relatives in Seattle so it works out good for everyone. Most of us are getting tired of the Bridgeport area by now and going that far is too much twice a year for me. To all our friends out there... I just want to let you know how important it has become to get away, have fun and meet friends again. You don't know how important it is for us until you actually start.
  21. I am trying to get an idea on how many would like to get together for camping fishing and relaxation for a few days at Magone Lake in Eastern Oregon this late spring. Trying to get an idea because Group sites are only 60 bucks a night which is a good deal if there are 4 of us or more. I am offering to pay so no camp fees if you show up for the fun and the campfire. Let me know even if just thinking about it. If your sure that's real good. Everyone's welcome. Thinking late April or May. Thanks for considering and remember in this busy day and age you need to slow it down a notch and break loose once in awhile.
  22. What's happening is the thing about my nose swelling up inside whenever I try sleeping. It's like having a suffocating experience always waking up. Most nights I end up with a mouth so dry. Is this a common problem on older folks, anyone? I got a minor surgery done called Turbinate reduction up inside my nose. It's like a miniature Lipo suction they do to the area that swells and closes off. This did nothing and has caused another problem. I am getting to where I do not trust some of the procedures as I had another issue with another Doctor who sent me to an expensive CT scan when a simple ultra sound would have saved me around 1200 bucks. Are there any other natural remedies out there for this? I use a liquid chemical decongestant once in awhile it's like heaven while sleeping but, in the long run it does some very bad things. Thank you ever so much in advance, fellow diesel friends.
  23. Had a neighbor with a squirrel that would not stop chewing the garage door gasket on the bottom. One day he got the bright idea to lay a plugged in extension cord along that gasket. Sure enough there was a fried squirrel ready for breakfast in the morning.
  24. If you don't trap them how else can you make sure you got him out before you block him inside the HVAC ? My trap, once I learned how to set a 'hair trigger' will most likely always get them soon as they touch the peanut butter, so I thought it best to entice him out first. Hard to say but, I felt loads better when I got him out of my truck.
  25. I caught the mouse working both my trucks in a cage trap I set. Drove him a mile away into the woods and let him go. Man! what a spunky little devil he was. He got inside my HVAC on the work truck and messed up my blower with a thick nest he built from both trucks firewall insulation. Anyway after new blower and a good cleaning both trucks now have the screens. I never want to go thru that again. I made the mistake of leaving the block heater plugged in for a week during the ice storm so it was a nice warm home in there. You can find where they get in when you lift the hood, it's down below the passenger side hood hinge on the inner fender, down about 12 inches there is a round hole. Stuff that with some soft metal wire and pack it hard as you can. I sort of made a roll of folded wire and stuffed that in there. fold it before you roll it so you aren't pushing on the wire ends and get bleeding finger tips. Stuff it in there pushing on the folded side of the roll.. I'm glad I caught him first and didn't trap him in my HVAC with the wire.
