How Do I???
Well guess what I did????:hyper: In order to really try to clean the tailgate, I would have have to take Q-tips to get in and around the badging. Didn't want to ____ with that, so I debadged the tailgate. Here's what I did............I put some heavy leather gloves on and used fishing line to "saw" the double sided tape off between the truck and the badge. That worked really slick. Then for the tedious part.........cleaning the tape off the tailgate. I took a hair dryer and warmed the tape up and used my fingernails to pick it off. Couldn't think of something that wouldn't scratch or chip the paint. Then to finish cleaning the tape residue off, I used straight gasoline on an old sock. Worked great.I really like the look of the "naked" tailgate. I'm gonna pull the badging off the sides of the truck when my fingernails grow back!!!!!:lmao2:Straight gasoline isn't gonna harm the paint, is it??????? It didn't appear to harm the finish on the tailgate while I was removing the tape residue. I was wondering if I could use that to "clean" the oil stains off the truck. I won't try this until I get the truck fixed though. Until then I'll just keep washing it off with soap.

How Do I???
Yeah Mike, I think it's the front crank seal. It's traveling down to the passenger front of the oil pan, down the passenger side of the pan etc. But while driving, any drips etc. get blown into oil mist which is all over the tail gate, rockers yadda, yadda, yadda. I hope it's only the seal and not a cracked front cover. I put this thread here in case there was a product that could be used. I was thinking even Simple Green??????? Is that stuff safe for paint????I could do it myself, but don't have the time or space to do it. My folks will bring up the '99 for me to use in a couple weeks. The shop I use is good.......gonna have them do some other stuff also. Probably have them adjust valve lash, retime my CP3, and I've got an annoying rattle in the front end somewhere that comes and goes. Sounds like a shock mount, but they're tight as far as I can tell. Hope it ain't a ball joint or tie-rod ends, because they've only got 40,000 miles on them. Sway bar end links????? Track bar bushings???? Driving the truck, the steering is tight, and I hardly feel any bump steer in wheel driving down the crappy road around me. Heck, on that trip to Missouri, on good Interstate it was only a finger and thumb on the wheel........that's how good she was driving. We shall see!!!!

How Do I???
Go about washing my truck when I've got a front seal leak that is essentially covering my truck with oil?????? I cannot get it into the shop for at least a 2-3 weeks. to get it repaired. I've washed my truck now for 3 days in a row. Not that it needed it, but to try to get the oil/dirt stains off the white paint. Today I used "straight" concentrated car wash soap. It helped, but didn't clean completely. HELP!!!

Trip Report
Yeah Mike. This area of Missouri isn't that far above the level of the Mississippi river which is about 20 miles East. The Ozarks of MO drain through this area. It actually is "delta" type ground...........very fine silty, clay, sandy soil. Much of Illinois is flat, but with gentle rolling hills. South Florida is pancake flat like this too. With some warmer weather, summer fuel and not bucking the wind (light as it was) I'd would've been in the 20's mpg coming home. Just over a year ago coming back from North Dakota, with 3 guys, 2 dogs and our gear; I got 20.? mpg running 75-80mph with a quartering tail wind. Winter fuel and loaded down!!

Here you go. You can kind of see how flat it is.

Trip Report
No trailer hauling Mike. Just me and the dog and my gear going down, and me and 2 dogs and some dead birds coming back. I bought back the outfitters dog to try and breed my black Lab male to.:stuned::drool:ISX, SE Missouri around Sikeston is all delta type ground..........pancake flat. New Madrid is just South of Sikeston and that's real close to where we were hunting. We're in the "bootheel" of MO. As far a fuel goes, I can see about a 5-10% difference in fuel pending the season. Had this trip been in the middle of summer, I'd have gotten about 1mpg better mileage.

Trip Report
Went down to SE Missouri this past weekend for my annual snow goose hunt. Hunting was slow on Sat. and great on Sun. On Sunday 3 guys killed 19 birds inspite of 2 guys with gun problems!!!Anyhow, I left my house Friday with about 125 mostly towing miles on the tank of fuel. Got down to Sikeston, MO, and filled up. I got 548 miles on that tank and after hand calculating mileage, it worked out to 18.5mpg. Not too bad.Drove around down there for about 180 miles before heading home on Sunday. I drove straight thru without stopping all the way to my house. I filled up this AM and the tank had 624 miles on it. Hand calculated mileage worked out to 19.8mpg. Pretty good since I was bucking a mild, mostly headwind all the way home. Both ways I kept the cruise control on when ever possible and had it set on 2000RPM which on my truck with stock sized tires is about 68mph. I know that the first tank was winter fuel because I filled her up here. But the second tank was filled in SE Missouri. Are they still on winter fuel down there???? Going down, the temps were mid to upper 30's the whole way down. On the way back, it started out in the low 50's and it was just above freezing when I got home.Well, that's my mileage story, and I'm sticking to it!!!

Military testing of 2 cycle oil in diesel fuel
Yup, I don't have an E-brake. Sometimes I wish I did when it's really cold here. Even with my homemade winter front, it takes a fair bit of time before I reach normal operating temps. I'm also the same, EGT's go up accelerating.......especially if I'm in to high a gear and need to downshift!!!!! Level ground, even in crazy hot weather, these Cummins cool down nicely. I'll say this again also.........when you've torn apart as many chainsaws and outboards as I have, you'd be amazed at how clean the innerds of properly running 2 stroke engines are. The ones that are not running properly, for whatever reason are all carboned up..........but you see the same in poorly running 4 stroke also!!!

Should Ron Paul Run in 2012?
If he thinks he can win the Republican nomination for president, then I'd say that he goes for it. However; if he's considering running on a 3rd party ticket, he's essentially guaranteeing "The One" of a second term as president!!!!The conservatives need to try to take over the Republican party from the "wishy washy" moderates that don't stand for anything but will be persuaded to do anything!!!If Ron Paul runs as a Republican for the presidency in 2012, I'd vote for him in the primary as of now. I reserve the right to change that however because there aren't too many conservative Republicans saying they're running yet.

2-Stroke oil and Powerstrokes
The 6.0H's still had the HEUI injection system in them which required engine oil pressure for them the fire. It still couldn't hurt to put some lube in the fuel which will help the innerds of those injectors!!!:2cents:

Military testing of 2 cycle oil in diesel fuel
I really don't understand what could be the problem with your truck. I religiously run 1/2oz per 1 gallon of diesel and have not had one problem. I sometimes skip a dose of 2 stroke if I'm on the road, but even then, no problems. When I first started using 2 stroke, I used 1oz per 1 gallon of diesel. I thinned the ratio out until I could hear a difference in the engine sound. That came out, for me, at the 1/2oz per 1 gallon diesel ratio that I recommend as a starting point for 3rd gen trucks. Mr. AH64ID, in mid-summer, at 90+ degrees, running empty, with the air on and in recirculate mode, running 65mph, my truck reads about 4-5psi boost and about 600 degrees EGT's if I'm not fighting the wind. My truck actually runs thru the air better with the air on and in recirculate mode than with the air off and fresh air running into the cab via the fan. In fact, when I drove down to my P's for Christmas, running 65mph, my EGT's were just above 500 degrees in low 20's weather bringing fresh air into the cab!!!! And here's the biggest surprise for you AH64ID........two years ago coming back from TX my buds Duramax broke down. I had to haul the big assed trailer (8'x26' with 3 big ATV's and gear in it) we took down there home from Bloomington, IL. It was 200+ miles of 5 guys in the cab, 3 dogs in the back, driving straight into a 30+mph North wind on I-39 in -10 degree weather. Just to maintain 60mph, my truck was pushing 20psi boost over level ground and would go to 30+psi on any incline. All that said, with the big load in the truck as well as the wall I was towing, I never saw EGT's over 1100 degrees. Over level ground, at 60mph, the EGT's were usually 800 or below. I don't know why my truck runs so cool and at the same time not experiencing the "GUMMING" issues you always bring up. I'm not arguing, I'm just saying too!!!!!:2cents:

Issues with an '06
Yup, verify you've got good batteries, a good alternator and good electrical connections on these. These 3rd gens are so very reliant on 'puters that if one little sensor or something doesn't get proper voltage it messes with other things. If all that checks out OK, please post back.Sorry I didn't see this sooner, I've been at my retriever clubs "upland hunt" all weekend.

Senior Citizen Kicks Some Butt
But Michael; you're a racist!!!!!!!! They're not "colored" nowadays, they're "African-Americans"!!!!! Which, IMHO gives them free reign to do anything. In other words.......if you accent the "african" part, they're gonna accuse you of being a "racist"!!!!! If you accent the American part, you're still a racist because you didn't mention the "black" part !!!!!!!! It's a "lose, lose" situation for any white boy IMHO!!!

dodge nv4500
My old '99 with the NV4500, has over 170,000 on her. No issues at all. I gave my '99 to the parents, when I got my 04.5 in June of '04. It had 143,000 miles on it then..............In 5+ years, the P's have only put less than 25,000 miles on her!!!!! Still has the original clutch, VP, lift pump etc.......... When I had that truck, I drove the piss out of it!!!!! It's leading a charmed life now. Although, I'll probably get it back in the near future............the P's are getting old and Dad doesn't like the manual tranny so much anymore!!!

It Must Be Global Warming
Well, in the last 24 hours I've experienced 16 inches of snow, and a magnitude 4.0 earthquake. I had better get my Bible, because that may be one of the signs of the appocolypse!!!!?????? My cousin, who used to live 6 blocks from me, now lives in Mannassas, VA. In the last month out there, they've had a 24" snow, and now this week, a 30" snow, and yesterday and today they're getting about another 18". Y'all have noticed the Forest Gore has been loudly absent with all this global warming we've been having!!!! What a tool!!!!:lmao2:
