  1. Supposed to be in the '50's here tomorrow. I'm gonna dive into it then. Don't know if'n it's coincidence or causal or not, but this happened right at this "cold snap" we're seeing now!! I'll keep y'all updated.
  2. Front of truck...................cannot hear it in the cab...................all gauges and dash stuff read normally. Sounds like an inconsistent rubbing/grinding. The whole front end of my truck is OEM. I'm thinking it could be alternator, fan clutch, water pump, idler pulley, belt tensioner pulley, or the power steering unit. Anyone wanna take a guess or help a guy out as to where to start?? I'm gonna start by backing off the serpentine belt tensioner and then manually turning all the parts on the front end. Hopefully I'll find the culprit by doing that.......
  3. Haven't been to the dentist in over 12 years. Prior to that I hadn't been to the dentist for at least another 12 years. In between, I went a couple times, as I had a dentist as a customer!! Never have had a cavity or a filling in my whole life..................50+ years now!! Have a "cousin-in-law" that is a dentist...................I tell him of my situation every time I see him. He tells me not to come in unless there's a problem. Brush and floss regularly.
  4. Rancherman, you've gotta be getting a lot of condensation in your "above ground" tanks then IMHO!!! More often it's suspended ice/slush and not gelled fuel that plugs filters. Just saying of course.
  5. What he ^^^^^ said!!!!! Do a search for member AH64ID. He has a lot of posts about his research into tires/rims etc.!!!
  6. A few hours later...................... My indoor/outdoor thermometer 6-7 feet from my stove. My furnace (not turned on) thermostat about 25 feet from my stove down the hallway. My stove cruising at 550*F on 3 silver maple splits.
  7. 21*F here at my place at 6:00AM.
  8. The Great Lakes ore freighter Edmund Fitzgerald sinks to the bottom of Lake Superior. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SS_Edmund_Fitzgerald http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgI8bta-7aw
  9. I'm of the belief that a fuel pump that pumps a lot of volume will help you in the winter months also. I wanna have fuel returning to the tank via the return line. It helps keep everything mixed/suspended etc. My Walbro LP is primo in that regard. I've also never had a gelling problem with the bio-blended fuel I have around here nor when I've driven thru Minnesota (where it's mandated) at below 0 temps. Parked outside for over 24 hours straight in almost -20*F a few years ago and MightyWhitey started up no problems. I've also never had my WIF light come one.................EVER!!!!

Blacksmith only or are you a "farrier"??
  11. 2 stroke oil actually has a lower "pour point" than straight diesel fuel. So adding to your fuel in whatever amount you do only helps you in that regard. Just saying, of course. I'd throw some 2 stroke in that barrel of #1 if you get it.
  12. Then what's stopping you????
  13. I was voter #95 at my polling place. Normally I'm within the first 20. I went at around the time I usually go also. I voted to change it back to the way it was.
  14. How do you like them Russ??!!
  15. Take a young Jake. Better eating!!!! Picking pretty small nits by saying that though. Take the shot that you know you can make!!!
  16. A pillar mount is the easiest. http://www.genosgarage.com/FULL-A-PILLAR-MOUNT-TRIPLE-03-09-NATURAL-BEIGE/productinfo/GM%2DDG%2D17213/#.VFkxZ0voZMw
  17. Don't tempt me!!!!
  18. The Downside To Burning Pallets 1. Gotta be quick on reloads, because there's not many long lasting coals produced. 2. Cutting/breaking the pallets up is harder work than CSSing........cutting, splitting and stacking!! 3. Gotta watch that the stove doesn't go "nuclear" due to the "kiln dried" wood used in the pallets!! 4. I have more nails in my firebox now than I do ash!!! I'll keep burning them though as long as I can get them for free.
  19. Both diesel and gasoline really dropped here about 3 weeks ago. I filled up with diesel when I got home from NoDak once at $3.45/gal and the next tank at $3.35/gal!!! Diesel is now up to $3.79/gal; but gasoline has only crept up a few cents in the same amount of time. Must be the change over to "winterized diesel" and the New England fuel oil spike we see this time of year.
  20. Richard from GDP told me when I bought another wiring harness from him for my Walbro..............that he stopped selling his Walbro system because Walbro wanted him to buy a HUGE amount of pumps at one time for a decent price break. Richard just couldn't have that $$$ tied to inventory to stay competitive, so he dropped his fine Walbro set up. The Walbro pump was not failing per se, nor was it the weak link in his system. I think many failures were due to CP3 ignorance at the time and the fact that guys were doing stuff without thinking too much. My FP is read PRE OEM FILTER. Sometimes in the Winter, my 30psi Autometer gauge is pegged if I leave her outside overnight. Summer time it runs 24-25psi. Have no idea what the pressure is at the CP3 after going thru a 7micron Fleetguard and a 2 micron secondary Fleeguard filter. Any idea about the pressure drop across the filters John??? No leaks from my OEM FF cover or gasket ever. Just saying, and "I think" my memory is still good......................I don't remember though
  21. Did you change your underpants???? Those cool, moist, windless areas exaggerate normal bodily smells.
  22. With the snow this AM, and me running out of pallets....................I think I'm gonna have to break into the wood stack for the winter. Didn't do too bad.............managed on "pallet wood" for a few weeks because it's been real mild here for most of October!!! I'm gonna run out of pallet wood within the next reload or two.................................then it's load up the box on the deck with silver maple that's 2 years old CSS!!
  23. I average about 20-22,000 miles/year on my truck. Of those miles each year, I would say 3-4,000 of them, at least, are on gravel and dirt roads, boat ramps, barn lanes etc. I can still easily get 70-80,000 miles from a set of tires. And I know folks that would drive the tires that I change out another 10-15,000 miles!!! Truth be told................much of that is due to the drivers of the vehicles!!!! Cummins has a detailed study about that I've read before................................Michael, can you help here???
  24. The only things that should "cycle" normally on a regular basis would be the "fan clutch", the AC compressor, and the grid heater.....................all of which are temperature sensitive via some sensor. Or could it be the alternator????? You know how when you're "jumping" another vehicle and they hit the starter how your vehicle grunts a bit.......................just thinking out loud here!! No aftermarket add ons to your truck??
