  1. 10-4, I understand. In a nutshell, you pay for wood but the price varies where you go..........boy does that sound funny!!!How do they know how much you're cutting, and hauling out???? Is it an "on your honor" system???
  2. If you truly are a cop, it's attitude like that in your last sentence which leaves "We The People" with little or no respect for those in your position. Had Officer Fife pulled me over and when he came to my vehicle had said, "Hello, I'm Officer X, and I saw you hitting your brakes several times long before the stop. Are you having brake light problems?".........I would've answered him. But he comes up to me, and first thing, asks me where I'm going. Last time I checked, most of the places in this country we don't need "papers" to travel or a cops permission.
  3. I was gonna axe the same question, Mike. Where can you fell trees like that in Idaho??? Public land, national forest, or is it on private land???
  4. 7-8 years ago, I got pulled over at like 03:00AM going out goose hunting. I had my buds trailer with the gear and decoys, as I was gonna meet him the the rest of the party at the field.Anyhow, he dropped his trailer at my house while I was working the day prior. No problem, I hook up in the AM, and head out to meet them. It's 45 minutes for me to get there, that's why the crazy early "go time" for me.Well, I pull out of my drive, and I look as I'm turning to see if I have trailer lights etc. I have them for the first block and the the second block before the main road, they go out. I stop jiggle the plug, and they come back on. OK, I thought, just a different plug than I used. Then I come to the stop before the main road , and the lights go out again. It's O'dark thirty and no one is out, so I grab a can of WD40 and spray the plugs of the trailer and my truck. Everything comes back on again like it's supposed to.Turn out onto the main street in my neighborhood, and it 4 blocks to the stop and go. My neighborhood is dark, so as I'm heading toward the light, I hit the brakes a few times to check brake lights and trailer brakes. All is working fine now.....................but Mr. Fife sees me touch the brakes LONG before the actual stop light, and pulls me over. While he's doing his check before approaching my truck and trailer, I get my DL, POI, and registration handy. When he gets to my door, the first thing he says is, "So where you headed so early this morning?" I did not answer him.He then said, "Did you hear me?" I said, "Yes."He then asked, "Why didn't you answer me?"I responded, "With all due respect, It's none of your business where I'm going right now."He said, "What do you mean."I replied, "Exactly that.....It's none of your business where I'm going now."He then said, "Why are you giving me attitude?"My response, "Why haven't you told me why you pulled me over yet?"His response, "Why the attitude??"Me, no response to that.Him, "I pulled you over because of you hitting your brake lights several times long before the stop light."I said, "OK, I was checking out the trailer brakes and lights before I really got out on potentially busy roads."Him, "Why didn't you say that in the first place?"Me, "You didn't ask."Him, "Get out of here."Never ever talk to the cops more that needed. They are not your friend. They gather evidence against you in traffic court. Don't volunteer info. Don't make small talk. They're looking for a reason to get you out of your vehicle to search it.Don't refuse a lawful request.............DL, POI, etc. When asked to exit the vehicle roll up windows and lock the doors when exiting. Roll up windows prior to cop getting to you vehicle. Always refuse a vehicle search even when threatened with them calling in the drug dogs etc. It's often a scare tactic.Don't drive drunk!!
  5. I'm driving home about 45 minutes ago from the fuel station. I dropped my work trailer off where I'll be working tomorrow, and go to fuel station.Anyhow, on the drive home I get behind a Dodge pickup.......a gasser. Don't know if it's Hemi or not. Well, the closer I looked, I see these tiny dual exhaust tips. They were economy car sized tips.......1.5 or 1.75 inches in diameter!!!!!! What's normal sized exhaust........2.25-2.5". I was laughing and shaking my head:lmao:
  6. Mine only moves if I have a "heavy foot"!!! That only happens a few times a year, so I essentially don't pay any mind to it. Sometimes when I pull a long grade while towing and she'll suck down (I wish) and sometimes she won't. I just wind up cleaing my air filter once per year. I run the Fram Boost 2 filter(AEM knockoff) with a filter cover/condom on it. So far so good.
  7. I run my Smarty Revo on SW5 default settings 99.5% of the time. Those are the setting that have gotten me my best mileage on my truck since I've owned Mighty Whitey. This time of year I regularly see 18-20mpg tanks running around suburbia in 50/50 towing/empty tanks of fuel. If I do an extended highway run, especially in summer, I can see 20+mpg regularly. My two best tanks being 23.3, and 21.2mpg IIRC. Not to bad for a 8000lb. vehicle!!!
  8. I think you need to ask the moderators to move your post to the appropriate 2nd generation section if your signature is correct and you have a 2000 Dodge Cummins. --- Update to the previous post... All that said, a tranny cannot "surge" by itself. Sounds like an engine sensor issue. Most likely the TPS, especially since you said you had the "dead pedal".
  9. If I didn't tow a lot, I'd probably run SW7 all the time. However, when I tried it, it was smokey and got warmer than I like to see.I don't have enough CP3 or turbo or sticks to get the most of SW9. My truck as is, on SW7, feels like it's faster, quicker and less smokey than on SW9.
  10. Have you healed up from your last Evil Knievel impersonation yet???Good luck with the interview!!
  11. HA!!! You beat me to it Mike.......although I was only gonna say 701 miles away. Batten down the hatches Russ, and stay strong!!!
  12. I run SW5 almost exclusively. I've got the supporting mods though. Gauges, lift pump, exhaust, clutch etc. I don't use the "added timing" on mine, because I get some timing rattle.........probably because of the tone wheel mod I did. SW5 is the best combo of power and mileage for me.Don't be tempted to run the higher levels on a stock truck. The power is addictive, and no matter how strong your self control is, you're gonna use that power!!! Just ask Mike how many stories we read about over at CF about guys tearing their trucks up!!!
  13. There is 2 ways to play this game. The first is obvious.......see how high you can get the anvil to fly. The second is to get the anvil to land closest to the launch point!!!All you need are 2 anvils, one for the base and one for the flying, black power and some fuse. Silicon caulk is optional!!!
  14. As a farrier, which means that I use an anvil daily, I know all about "anvil shooting"!!!! Seen it done numerous times. I sure wish I had pictures, but I won't be able to describe so of the crazy stuff I've seen whilst doing this!!!!! Alcohol is a pre-requisite for this activity by the way!!!
  15. I'm running the Smarty Revo right now. I love it. I ran the Edge J w/A prior to that. It was good, but not as good as the Smarty. There is no Smarty program the eliminates injection events as of now. That 3rd injection event doesn't always happen anyhow. There are certain parameters that need to be met via the sensors and the ECM/computer decides whether or not to add the 3rd event. If I were you, prior to getting a Smarty of some sort, first do these mods...1. Gauges....so you have baseline to start from...EGT, boost, LP pressure and rail pressure, trans temp2. Free flow exhaust......get rid of the back pressure......muffler only...leave the kitty3. Secondary 2 micron fuel filter..........your injectors will love you for this4. Trans upgrade.........clutch for manual........valve body, torque converter at least for auto, and maybe shafts5. Smarty.......You could possibly eliminate or delay 2,3, and 4 if you're gonna drive for mileage and have a light foot........and get the Smarty. But most find the Smarty too much fun and tear up there tranny with the low end power the Smarty provides.
  16. Living proof!!!
  17. I didn't look prior, but I see now that you're a 100% stock truck. Sorry.First off, without knowing you, I still don't know how you drive your truck. You can tell me, but it's still not the same. I used to drive critters to market. You'd better believe that it mattered how they "were driven" to market based on how they were "graded" by the USDA!!! That's where I learned slow and easy stops and goes are essentially to the best possible animal grades, but also fuel mileage!!!Before doing any mods for mileage, if I were you, I'd first do these mods......1. Aftermarket lift-pump system2. Aftermarket supplementary 2micron fuel filter3.Straight thru muffler4. Gauges........EGT, Boost, LP pressure, and Rail pressureAfter the above, I'd get a Smarty Jr. now. I've got the Smarty Revo. However, since I've gotten the Revo, I've not been interested in anything else, so I've not been keeping "up to date" on the latest Smarty stuff. That's how good my Smarty Revo is!!!!! For you truck, IMHO, it sounds like you need something to "advance" the timing to get rid of the "RETARDED" timing the '04.5+'s have from the facory. IIRC, before I added the Juice (pre-smarty), I was getting the same mileage you were. It wasn't until I added a "box" (Edge Juice w/Attitude) and then finally the programmer Smarty Revo that my mileage got into the upper teens and lower twenties!!!!
  18. Are these hand calculated numbers or are you going by the overhead lie-O-meter??? How fast are you driving on the highway?? Jack rabbit take offs???My best ever is just over 23mpg. My last long trip was just recently......check the other 3rd gen forums for it...........but I got just over 21mpg on that one. I usually average about 18-20mpg this time of year highway driving. I also average about the same mpg driving around suburbia 50/50 driving empty and towing my work trailer where my speeds are mostly under 50mph.All my major mods are in my signature.............I do have just under 150,000 miles on Mighty Whitey though.
  19. Some of them will stand to defend Amsoil before defending their mothers!!!
  20. Cajflynn, I don't have a clue about number 2 or 3 on your list. However, in regards to number 1, I would tend to agree. I've nothing against the products they produce, as I use there stuff in my diffs, tranny and transfer case. I think they are good quality, and even at the prices they charge, it's still cheaper than getting the fluids from them than at the stealership!!!!! I despise the way it's marketed and sold. Seems real close to a pyramid scheme or a ponzi scheme in that regard. And I hate the "in your face" way some of the guys push the stuff!!! Later man, and drive safe!!!!:thumb1:
  21. I had to put that "can of honk" on layaway; because they didn't have it in stock!!!!!
  22. With as much time as I've spent in NODAK since '99, I've never, ever even seen a snake of any kind!!! I hate snakes. I know they're good critters because they eat badder critters.........but they freak me out!!!!:ahhh:
  23. Isn't regular/conventional air something like 70+% nitrogen already??? That has to be one the biggest auto scams around!!:spend:
  24. I hear that Cajflynn!!! In another few months, I'll have the change out the air in my tires too. Can't be running summer air in the tires in the winter!!!
