  1. Nice ! I just did an oil change but I may have to get a filter for next time!
  2. That's terrible, poor woman can't even get home from work. What ever happened to those little VW's that ran on diesel and got like 40-50 mpg back in the day? I think it was a VW golf? Used to know a guy that had one. He drove that thing forever. It finally crapped out at like 400k miles.
  3. I did not index the blend door motor when I installed the heater treater. I may do that today as well. According to heater treater the motor will relearn over a period if time. Not sure how long that will take though. Judging from my temp gauge on the dash I think my T-stat is not functioning properly. It may not be the root of the issue but a contributing factor at the least. Without an infrared thermometer I can't give accurate hose Temps but by feel the hoses seem to be somewhat close in temperature. I will remove the blower motor and check for debris today as well and maybe just pop the hoses off and back flush the core out quick just to see if it makes a difference. The Temps at the vent now are less than what I had right after I changed the heater core a year or two ago so something is up. I would like to do this systematically so I can find the true cause or causes. Also, air flow was mentioned, I seem to have adequate air flow. I don't believe that to be an issue.
  4. Like a little while ago on the way home from the inlaws this was my engine temp while going down the road Sorry, image is a touch blurry, a 3500 don't ride like a caddy on country roads I think it's time for a new thermostat. I though I bought this last one at napa but not sure. I'll drop the blower motor tomorrow to check for air flow blockage. If none is found then maybe pull the heater hoses off the block and flush the core into a bucket and look for debris. I have a new radiator that I still have not installed. I should probably just swap them, flush the entire system, replace the T-stat refill with new coolant and be done with it.
  5. You are correct sir!
  6. I'll do that tomorrow. Gonna be leaving for the inlaws soon for dinner. I'll report what I find. Heater core was changed about 2 years ago, hvac was cleaned out at that time, seals all looked good as well. Just want to figure this out before it really gets cold here. I also changed the thermostat 2 years ago as well. 190° stat, watching the gauge it seems to open just past the 190 mark and drops fast til it closes again. It cycles up and down till all the coolant is heated
  7. Installed the heater treater today. I'm not real clear on the indexing of the stepper motor though. I did find that the oem coupler was cracked. Once I got the new piece in I drove the truck for about 10 miles to test heat output. It was not impressive. Dash gauge showed nearly 190° but my digital thermometer only showed 108°F at the center vents. I don't get it, I've never had issues like this with heat.
  8. The technology has been invented several times over to greatly increase fuel efficiency of the internal combustion engine. Problem is the oil companies bought up the patents and buried the technology. I think they should bring some of it out now to save their own butts from this EV forced take over. There have been many cases where a vehicle was modified or fitted with a device to achieve 50+ mpg and even higher. I feel that would be the best way to go at this time. The electric vehicle issue is just not sustainable.
  9. I don't have a hemi but I am curious, what year / model car that's in? More pics? I do like the Hemi's. Great motors. My brother has a 2021 Ram 1500 Rebel with the Hemi, very nice truck, pretty dam fast for a truck as well, tons of power. I'm proud to say I talked him into buying it. He had a standard Hemi 1500 4x4 but he wanted to lift it, more aggressive tires and a few other mods. I explained to him that a Rebel is already setup the way he wants so a week later.....he calls me. First word from his mouth were "this is all your fault" I drive a car hauler out of toledo ohio, we get a lot of dodges through toledo as well so i have had a chance to drive pretty much everything. The pwerful stuff is fun, the challenger/charger hellcats, the 1500 TRX and a few other variations. I cant play in them like i want but you can tell theyre very fast and powerful vehicles. Impressive knowing theyre factory stock like that.
  10. I just wanted to take a minute to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. I'm sure most of us have some sort of plans to be with friends and family tomorrow so I thought I'd put this up this evening. We (the wife and I ) will be hosting dinner for my family on Saturday, tomorrow will be spent with her family. This way there is no rush, we get as much time at each as we would like. This year we are kind of cheating. To save the wife from being stuck in the kitchen the entire time we decided to try a Thanksgiving feast from Bob Evans. It includes turkey breast, ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, buttered corn, cranberry sauce, rolls, pumpkin bread, pumpkin and apple pies. I may have forgot something but you get the just. This way the wife will have more time to socialize with everyone before they fall into their food comas. Really, I think she just wants to play with some of the grandkids more. Lol I look forward to spending time with family, sharing a meal and some laughs for of all the things in life it's times like these that I am most thankful for. As for my extended family here on mopar1973man.com, the best I can do is to simply wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving and hope that you have plenty of things to be thankful for in your lives. Enjoy the little things, for they are the most precious.
  11. The heater treater kit actually comes with a replacement fir the rear screw. It's a stud, screw threads on one end to thread into the plastic and machine threads on the other with nuts to install.
  12. Received the heater treater kit yesterday. I'll be installing it sometime in the next few days. I've been under the weather since Friday so I haven't done much of anything since. From the looks of the kit and the instructions it seems pretty straight forward. Only trick is the rear screw on the motor itself. I'll need to pull back the mat (no carpet in my truck) and find my right angle screwdrivers. Haven't used those in quite a while. Lol Now @Mopar1973Man, is this after a drive to thoroughly warm up the engine? Also, was there a winter cover installed at that time? Outside temp? Just curious of the variables involved with this measurement.
  13. Wow, not a very reliable diesel there is it?! I'll stick with the proven Cummins.
  14. I read through all that and all I took away was hardtail a Harley frame. Lol
  15. Yeah, those Hemi trucks are quick!
  16. Welcome @Tatted Hemi Colton to our little corner of the interweb thingy!
  17. @Royal Squire, I made some inserts for the 4 grill openings last year. They helped a little I think. (Might have been a placebo effect also) but I wanted to try an actual "like OEM" type winter cover. I don't really haul or tow much, especially in the winter so I need all the help I can get to maintain heat under the hood.
  18. Really like that color! Looks awesome!
  19. Ordered the winter cover today. They are now on backorder until 11/25 so I figured I better not wait any longer.
  20. @Mopar1973Man, is that the one that was glued before in a time crunch? I'm curious to see what shape mine is in. I don't want to pull it apart until I get the heater treater kit though. Kinda need the heat around here now. Still haven't pulled the trigger on the winter cover but getting close.......
  21. I went ahead and ordered the heater treater for the truck. I figure if it isn't broke or cracked yet it will be eventually. Still considering the winter cover from Genos as well. Today it was 30°F and the heat coming out just don't feel as warm as it should. I didn't have a thermometer to take a reading. I feel that it should heat you out of the cab. The cab isn't that big.
  22. How bad of a job is that swap? Just curious
  23. @LorenS, did you watch the video in link of his first post? I am no expert but I would assume and injector failed in a big way and took out a piston by dumping massive amounts of fuel into 1 cylinder? If im wrong Mike please correct me.
  24. Is the rest of the truck worth the expense and trouble? What's a new (or used) engine run in your area?
