  1. There is a multi vehicle multi-accident pile up on the ohio turnpike near Sandusky, Ohio. I've heard it spans nearly 6 miles. Turnpike is shut in both directions. These were sent to me by a friend, he got them from Twitter. He has heard that there could be as many as 100 vehicles involved. We shall see, I know how things get exaggerated. Hopefully no fatalities.
  2. Well, it's Thursday evening, 6pm. The rain has started, it's expected to change o er to snow sometime overnight. Tomorrow we are expecting more snow, total they say will only be in the area of 5 inches. The winds will pick up though, gusting to 65mph which will set us up for blizzard like conditions. Luckily, the wife and I finished our preparations for Christmas today. We are now home waiting for this storm to do what it does. The cummins is plugged in for the night, I have gasoline for the tractors and generator if needed, plenty of food and water. Time to sit back and see what mother nature has in her bag of tricks. For some reason this reply didn't post. I hit the button to post this morning. Here we are Friday morning. What a difference. Rain began changing to snow around 11pm. This is current weather conditions.
  3. @IBMobile, there should be one some where out there. There are plenty of snowflakes in Cali.

  5. I wouldn't think it would be necessary. Unless mayne you were in some extreme cold.
  6. I think it's pretty cool. I sit on the fence between original vintage restorations and modern restoration. That one seem to me a nice mix of both, very well done and clean.
  7. Here in ohio they have issued winter storm watches. Saying we could see Blizzard conditions Friday. I'm going to work a short day on Wednesday and take Thursday and Friday off I think. I need to get gas for the tractors and generator, fix my daughter's car and get wifey to the store. Then we should be good
  8. Won't catch my bike out in that weather.
  9. Not to down grade Cali but I think I'd rather deal with the snow. Lol
  10. I have to get outside today and put the back blade on the tractor for any bigger snow. Also have to get the old wheel horse out of the pole barn for the snowblower. That works well as long as you don't overload it. Need to get some weight in the truck bed as well. It's hard to weigh down a 1 ton dually for winter driving. I have several RR ties, I'm going to put 1 layer of them between the wheel wells to see how many fit.im thinking 4-5, they're 8 footers so they weigh in around 150lbs or so a piece. That'll be 600-750lbs, hopefully that will be enough. If not, I'll dump snow on top if them. Lol Another thing on the list will be to bring out my heavy extension cord for the block heater. I generally don't need it but it's nice in the morning to fire up the truck and have a little heat right away. Plus it keeps the grid heaters from pounding the alternator and batteries so much.
  11. Me and the wife will discuss something and next thing you know it's showing up in her Facebook feed as an ad for the very same item or topic. I know they listen.
  12. Glad to see it's dropping in some places. Here around toledo ohio it's still hanging in the $5.50 area
  13. Any updates on this engine swap? Just curious if you were able to find a good engine, ballpark price for said engine and if work has begun.
  14. I agree with @Me78569, I would say stick with the HX35 and you should be able to tune out any smoke or whatnot with the adrenaline. I don't have a tuner on mine yet but have read a lot about the adrenaline, @Mopar1973Man should be able to comment on that with more insight than myself.
  15. So to condense this, my oldest daughter and her boyfriend had one of their cars breakdown on them. A Honda pilot, supposedly had a bad transmission. I couldn't get there to look at it before the BF made the decision to sell the car leaving them with only one. It's getting cold, they both work and have 2 kids in the home as well. My daughter was stressed about how they're going to make this work. I immediately jumped online and found them a 2007 dodge grand caravan with reasonable miles, nice interior but a had a little rust. Went to check it out and ended up bringing it home for her. We invited them over Thursday evening for dinner and suprized her with it. Christmas came a little early for her but now I know she has a safe vehicle to drive and haul the kids around in. It's a great feeling when you help someone out, I'm not sharing this story to brag in any way, I just feel good about it and wanted to share.
  16. Hovering around $5.50-$5.69 here.
  17. That's awesome, kudos to him. I'm sure the little old lady appreciated him more than he will ever know.
  18. Yes, the 2 flaps have velcro on 3 sides so you can fold them down for airflow. The cover goes all the way down behind the bumper to completely cover everything.
  19. I installed mine today before I headed home from work. Seems to help warm the engine up faster and keep a more consistent temp when stopped. I left one flap half open, outside temp was at 31°F . Probably would have been fine with both flaps closed. They're both closed now. Gonna test it in the way into work in the a.m. As for the cover itself, it seems to be of good quality, nice heavy vinyl and nice wide velcro closures. Fits perfectly behind the bumper to completely cover the a/c coil, intercooler and radiator. I'll try to remember to get a pic tomorrow and post it. If your in need of a winter front for a 2nd gen I recommend this one from Genos.
  20. Haven't had the pleasure of talking to them. Swapped some emails with Heather while setting them up as a vendor. Seemed very nice. Must be that southern hospitality. Been very happy with all my purchases from then so far. Will recommend them to anyone that has a need for their products.
  21. Received my winter cover today for my 2001 3500. Have not installed it yet but it seems to be well made, heavy vinyl. Nice wide velcro strips for adjusting air flow to. I think it will make a big difference this winter on warm up times and keeping heat near the engine. I'm sure it won't hurt heater output either. Looking forward to seeing the difference. Genos shops quickly, even with the cover on backorder it shipped sooner than expected. Thanks Geno's!
  22. Tis the season. Lol
  23. Ok, got out there today after a trip to my local Napa store for a new thermostat, radiator cap and 6 gallons of coolant of the green variety. 1 gallon full strength and 5 of the 50/50 mix. I finally changed the radiator today, flushed out the block until I had good clean water flowing out. Also flushed the heater core both forward and backeards. After refilling the cooling system, checking for leaks I went for a 4 mile drive around the block to warm her up. The parked in the driveway to measure Temps. With my scanner plugged into the obd port and a thermometer in the center vent above the radio I had 181° engine temp and 118.9° at the vent. I then removed the blend door motor again and indexed that accord to instructions from heater treater. After this part I went for another ride around the block, 4 miles and checked Temps again, this time I check vent temp at the floor vent. I had 186° engine temp and 138.9° at the floor vent. Much better. I believe that it needed the flush out, I know it needed the radiator (I've had it for a year) the driver's side tank had a Crack in it. My next concern I guess is the engine fan. How free should it spin by hand with the engine off? I have much better heat now but it still cools off fast once the truck is stopped and at idle. I'll attach a video of me trying to spin the fan by hand. Ok, couldn't figure out how to attach the short video but if I spin it by hand, as soon as I let go it stops. No free wheeling at all.
