  1. Do not get a DTT Assasin. So many problems that I have witnessed in person as of now. I would really look at the FASS option. Your truck is already plumbed for an electric pump anyway. It would be easy to just throw the FASS up there and hook everything back up, theoretically. I still have a FASS that was over 8 years old and still pumped!! Sounded like a bearing was out and that is the only reason I switched to the raptor. I must have gotten the raptor before they made the manufacturing changes because its about 2 years old now and about 30k miles on it. Still holding pressure steady.
  2. Ok guys. The high pressure was an easy fix after all. My bro had the pulleys swapped. There is a big pulley and a smaller pulley. He had the big pulley on the crank which caused the pump to run twice as fast as it needed. Got them swapped around and the pressures are just about where they should be!!
  3. Ya. You get to the point of replacing a pump at least yearly. No matter how many free pumps they give you, you are still going to have to change it out in another year. There are a few of us that have actually torn down our pumps to see what fails inside. They are surprisingly simple and easy to get parts for once you get it apart. Couple bearings, the seal, not much else. There should be a thread going about it somewhere...
  4. Thats one big stack of firewood!! Holy Cow!!
  5. That was our get away car. I borrowed it from a very good family friend. Its a 1971 complete with factory A/C and hood tach. Its got the original 455 with ram air intake too. Fully restored back to OE specs apart from some very nice engine internals and a 4 speed auto tranny.
  6. I think you can even rent a smarty for like a week to do this.
  7. I want to make it a point to meet up with some folks in the next year or so. I think Mike Nelson and Hex are the closest people to me here in Missoula.
  8. Here is one of me and the better half on our big day!!
  9. If you can find a dealer for PartsChannel, I have heard they have quality OE replacement parts for really good prices. I replaced a mirror on an older Ford E350 van from them and it looked/worked just like the factory one did. And it was way cheap too.
  10. There is nothing like a good quality gauge. My bro just got some glowshifts for his truck (because of the AWESOME price) and even just holding the bare gauge in your hand, it feels so chinsy!!
  11. Boy..... Those springs coupled with a short throw shift tower could be a mean set up. That is probably my only complaint about the NV5600. It takes some time in between shifts. If it really would help the synchros last longer, then $27 is a cheap bill.
  12. I was also wondering about what your hyrdualics look like. If you are still running the stock system, it may not be holding back that big old clutch very well!! If you do have an adjustable aftermarket set up I would try adjusting the pedal "up" a bit. That way it engages the clutch a bit more.
  13. Is there any way to check the rules/regulations on this type of stuff? I think there is a member here by the handle of IBMobile. He has to pass emissions testing in CA if I remember correctly. You might shoot him a PM.
  14. I would try changing your filters first. You never know what kind of shmagma can get in there. Anything can happen in 3 months. Also, do you know for 100% that there is full voltage getting to the pump? If it is not getting full power it wont make full pressure. FASS is usually pretty rare to go out. Especially one that is only a few years old.
  15. Here is some of my beast. Been all over with this thing!! 240k and counting.
  16. Yep. Give them a call. They are really great when it comes to customer service. Make sure they send the right harness for your truck though. I think there was a difference in MAP sensor plugs over the years.
  17. I will have to see if they can check the regulator out. I don't know if the ones that come with the Assasins are adjustable pressure-wise. I will have them double check to make sure the return line is free flowing as well. Thanks for the help!!
  18. Well we've got another issue with this DDT pump. They finally got the fuel pressure gauge hooked back up. At idle, it's sitting at 12psi to the VP. Nothing wrong there. At 2000 rpm's, the 30psi gauge is pegged. Apparently the pressure regulator isn't working at all!!! Any ideas on what to do with that? I'm so far not to impressed with this particular mechanical pump.
  19. So is that groove in the ball where the spring had stretched around the ball? Or from being pushed into the pump housing?
  20. I wonder if you could get the actual seal like I have in my pump and like dieselfuture has in his pump. No wonder all the airdogs are having problems!!! That little piece of plastic cannot last long under much heat and it doesn't look like it would seal very well from the beginning!! What I think is funny is the pump that I pulled apart is a FASS 95 that is about 8 years old. It seems to be built exactly like the AD's you guys have now. Just needs a bearing and that little seal replaced.
  21. Is that little wave washer in there just to hold the seal in place? Mine came out in pieces but the seal was pretty firmly stuck in place.
  22. So I just popped apart that old Fass I have. It's looks to be built identical to that AD you are working on. Looks to be in good shape. Bearings are pretty shot and that seal came out in pieces. That little wavey washer was in pieces when I opened it up. Any idea what that does?
  23. I am still running my Raptor 100 from AD. I am not having any pressure issues but over the last year or so the pump has gotten very noisy. I wonder if I could solve the problem by replacing the bearing in the pump? The Raptor is the same motor that is on the AD Pumps, right? My thinking is if it is just a bearing that is worn out, maybe I can save the rest of the pump by replacing the bearing. Might as well do that seal too so as to save me any issues down the road. I also have an older FASS 95 pump that came on the truck when I bought it. It still pumped steady but the pressures were pretty low. Maybe I can rebuild that pump too and have a decent spare. Looking at these pictures, everything looks pretty simple when it comes to these lift pumps. Maybe, if someone were to source the parts and put together some rebuild kits...... Think about the opportunities!
  24. In my experience selling trailer running gear, neither the bearing buddys or the EZ Lube seems to keep up with actually just pulling apart the hubs and repacking. This gives the chance to actually inspect the bearings and races possibly preventing a problem in the near future. The Bearing Buddys are a good concept but very often the inner bearings are left without getting new grease. The outer bearings usually get greased pretty good but what good does that do when the inners dont? Not to mention, one of the points of repacking is to get rid of the old grease much like changing the oil in your engine. The bearing buddys dont get rid of the old and possibly burnt grease. The EZ Lube spindle option is not much better than the bearing buddys IMHO. On the other hand, unlike the buddys, EZ Lube does inject the grease at the inner and outer bearings equally. You still have the problem of not getting the old grease out. Both are quick fixes for what should really be just pulling apart, inspecting, and repacking the bearings. Personally I dont like sitting on the side of the road with a hub that fell off my trailer so all my trailers get fully repacked about every couple of years depending on how much use they see. It really does not take that much time to do it right.
  25. Good to hear that they will still be being produced. I am still very happy with mine. The light stopped working a little while ago but I havent checked the power and ground to it or anything. Hopefully its a simple fix. Makes it nice when the light comes on.
