high speed miss
it has not done this again. i still a concerned, but do not have a way the diagnose the problem further yet. i since have installed the big line kit on the truck(from fuel can to VP44). it came with a tapped 90* so i can get fuel pressure readings now. just need a gauge. the last time i took it to autozone, the CEL was off(well...it never came on). the guy hooked up to OBD2 and tried. it just said "working" and after a minute or so. he said because the check engine light wasn't on, he was going to get any codes. in the middle of January i plan on buying a obd2 -> usb adapter so i can monitor the live data(and maybe tune my ecm )

2003 Dodge with 633k miles and still going.
wow!i hear a lot of rig guys say, put synthetics everywhere but the motor. a lot of people around here believe that longer intervals can be bad. for the money, most would rather drain and fill. they argue the cost per mile. i have used both and would recommend using what ever cummins says to use(goes for fuel also).

Auto Body Parts
i had something similar happen. i work at night on telephone polls and was backing up to the next one. the tailgate was down(its my work bench) pow.bang.zam(sorry, i watched batman last night) i only jacked up the tailgate. but i had to beat it with a hammer for 2 hours to get it off. now i got a white truck and a blue tailgate. on a side note. their is a salvage yard here that has a bed and matching tailgate. i think i is white, but not sure. if i remember right he wanted 1000.

Unusual Charging problems
was the dash gauge jumping also or just the scan gauge?all good advice...but lets not forget what he can do at home...grab you digital VOM and and test each battery(they should be unhooked) while connected you could test the terminal connections(place one of the probes on the post and the other on the same terminal the is connected to the post. electricity takes the path of least resistance.if the DVOM gets a reading greater than 0.2, then there is a problem at that connection) i believe you might be able to test the alt similarly. the power of the cummins shakes screws loose and even has torn my dash to pieces. maybe a screw has come loose on some of your "aftermarket" wiring.you know i did my batteries earlier this year...because the starter contacts tricked me...but they were going so i guess i got them done early.

Trunk Monkey

Bosch Testing of Fuels...
i agree with 90% of what you said snofarmer. in oklahoma we have several refineries. the notable ones are phillips66 and valero. i believe these only deliver fuel to the stores in question. most no name places like 7eleven and quicktrip use the phillips66. i believe because of their location they are the cheapest in this area

Disc brake pads
well one time in a crunch i bought the 8.99 from autozone. they typically have 3 tiers, and this is the lowest. they seemed to wear quicker, but i was towing heavy with no trailer brakes or jake. the kicker was there is no "squeaker" on the inner pad...before i knew it the rotor was unturnable!

Unexpected results from new VP44
i am curious how you plumbed that up. i have a 100 gallon transfer tank in the bed. it would would be cool if i could use my stock lift pump(still bolted to the motor) on a toggle switch. please give me details.

98.5 with 4th Gear Hunt Fix
i don't have an auto and i'm not an expert. i believe the "noise in the line" is caused by a worn out diode in the alternator. i would reckon that any fix would be a band-aid, and would suspect there would be different degrees of intensity(the noise your experiencing could be different from another person's noise). replacing the alternator would seem to be to be the most logical course of action. but it would only return when that one's diode wears out.if i am incorrect about any of this please correct me.

Disc brake pads
my 99 has drums on the back, but i was going thru pads on the front very often(2-3months0. after i put 2 new rotors on(140 each at local orielly's) i haven't changed them since. that was at least 18months ago

do you have a bypass filter? what oil do you usually use? you should add your vehicle's year to your signature.
