  1. my buddy's 94 GMC 3/4ton with a 350 often vibrates the nuts loose on the manifold. the leak causes him to loose torque pretty quick, also mpg's a little
  2. still want more info? http://mopar.mopar1973man.com/cummins/2ndgen24v/fuel-pressure/fuel-pressure.htm http://mopar.mopar1973man.com/cummins/2ndgen24v/overflow-valve/overflow-valve.htm as you can see the only way that pump doesn't over heat is because 70% of the fuel is returned to the tank. that fuel is what cools the vp44. that overflow valve doesn't open until 14-16psi...so imo the 10psi dodge says that the pump needs still isn't enough to open the valve.
  3. the scan gauge /scangauge 2 can only see what the computer sees. the computer doesn't monitor fuel pressure...and therefor you don't know until its to late...
  4. You could try Caspers Electronics that is where Mopar1973Man order his plugs for the high idle kit he built... http://www.casperselectronics.com/store2/ it would save you from needing to hack a harness
  5. to answer your question directly...YES UPGRADE YOUR Lift Pump!that REALLY expensive pump must always have 10psi and the stock one usually won't deliver that pressure while pulling your 5th wheel. a new pump doesn't fix damage that has already occurred but can prevent it. the good ones(AIRDOG and FASS) have lifetime warranties. you should look into getting a fuel pressure gauge. it will tell you if your in the danger zone(under 14psi).welcome to the forum
  6. uggghhhh...i hate when you open your package and its missing pieces!!! no metric adapters...tsskk tsskkk vulcan performance for not QC packaged kits --------eric did get me some pdq
  7. in the last 2 months this has happened 3 times. i am cruising along the freeway and bam...it fells like a miss...the truck lunges and then takes back off. it lasts just a split second. the first 2 times i had cruise control on. usually travel 60-65mph. it did it again after coming home from a hunting trip and i wasn't using the cruise and was going ~75mph. no CEL light, so autozone won't even try to read codes...just left me scatch'n my head.
  8. well its stays pretty warm here but we get a few sub freezing days.the AD150...that thing has to be circulating the whole tanks volume in 7-10 minutes
  9. well my big line kit arrived today. when i installed my airdog i skipped the factory fuel heater as instructed. but i have read that fuel temp may affect VP44's timing...so i figure what the heck
  10. 04dodge...maybe check the valves. mine were out of spec at 160k!just throwing ideas out there.
  11. dittohave had my airdog for 8 months and 25k miles. the best $500 i have EVER spent on my truckpassing thought is if you order one. if you upgrade the straw to the 3 connection than:you don't cut the filler neck hose. it puts the vp44's return into the straw and the airdog picks it upcan go lower in tank without pressure fluctuating.
  12. my 99 was doing something similar...it would slightly bouce at idle...i hit 160k and decided to do the valve lash and after that no more bouncebefore you could see the bounce on the tach and even hear it outside the trucki had 3 valves that were wider than spec and i think 6 valves right on the edge of oki ajusted all of them to the fsm spec...no reason to b in there next year
  13. isn't the fix just putting a cover over the dowel?
  14. have not had the pleasure of doing an injector swap. so i'm taking notes. like a sponge. i find reliable info and soak it up
  15. fuel temp for timing? could that be the "gremlin" in my truck. is the fuel temp in the vp or b4 it?
  16. i want the same thing...my thoughts are on a 6speed allison. it has a double overdrive! i have thought about a gear box but i don't like the idea of my wife trying to remember how to work it.
  17. where are the shavings? under the valve cover? in the injector tube. sorry but you were kinda vague.
  18. looks like you covered the basics.
  19. right out of the FSMVacuum control is used to operate the mode doorsin the heater-only and HVAC housings. Testing of theheater-only and a/c heater mode control switch operationwill determine if the vacuum, electrical, andmechanical controls are functioning. However, it ispossible that a vacuum control system that operatesperfectly at engine idle (high engine vacuum) maynot function properly at high engine speeds or loads(low engine vacuum). This can be caused by leaks inthe vacuum system, or by a faulty or improperlyinstalled vacuum check valve.A vacuum system test will help to identify thesource of poor vacuum system performance or vacuumsystem leaks.
  20. before i removed the factory box for the bhaf, i wouldn't hear the turbo until ~2400-2600rpms. after i could hear it at 1650~1750rpms. i took my ring off about 1500m ago. if its quiet outside(i work at night) i can hear i pick up just above idle. during the day you can't hear it below 1200rpms. it is worth mentioning that i have stock exhaust and sound system. the radio easily drowns it out.
  21. does anyone know if the quadzilla adrenaline modify the defuel?i understand that the REDLINE and EDGE COMP DRAG do, but are they the only ones?
  22. the main benefit to the BHAF is its size or surface area. more surface area = less energy spent drawing air. if you took your stock square filter and tried to "wrap it" around the BHAF you would notice that it would take at least 2 square filters to get the same coverage. i notice the a lot of "cold air intakes" used cone filters. in every case i looked at the cones were smaller than BHAF, therefore having less surface area. by removing the filter box your not forcing the intake through a little hole in the fender. on a side note, i skipped the outerwear and some leaves got in there. with the moisture from them it made the metal cover rust and the paper nasty in the top corner. i noticed it during an oil change. wish i had that outerwear now the damage is minimal thx to early detection(only a 1/2" spot near the plastic)
  23. i did my adjustment a couple of weeks ago and i had 3 that were out of spec, and like another 6 that barely meet cummins wide area of forgiveness. after i did the lash i started it up and noticed that my tach no longer bounced at idle. it use to bounce ever so slight(maybe 700-800). now it stays in one spot unless i kick on the ac. no difference in sound but i'm on a 2stroke diet so maybe i just couldn't notice?
  24. i am inclined to agree with flagmanruss. my grandpa who is an ase mechanic for ~20years told me when i bought my truck that our cummins has a carbon problem and it is associated with long idle periods. he said to not worry about cool down unless i've been pulling or a lot of highway. he's opinion was i shouldn't need more then 5min cool with load, none if empty. months later i read that the 24valves make the head cooler. later i read that UPS does not use warm up/cool down cycles for their fleets. but i have also read about people "burning" off their their carbon with sustained high egts or seafoam. not sure about any of this. just passing along info
  25. my ford rangers transmission only had grey silicon, my dana 80 also had no gasket for the pan, only red silicon*just found out my dana 80 was missing 70 oz of gear lube. i spent a couple hours scraping the red off, and bought a gasket. it was $8. a little higher than the paper but i don't want another leak
