Fass or air dog

Recommended Posts

I run an AD problem free for 5 years and then the pumped crapped out about a year ago.  They replaced it no questions asked, but i still have there quality issues in the back of my head everyday. If I had to start over it would be Fass and I would consider the Fuel boss.

I was thinking about running a fass or air dog system. Any thoughts on which is better or something else or not at all. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks

post-732-0-89667800-1414457849_thumb.jpg     I have been running this BD pump for a little over a year now, and I have been pretty happy so far. It takes the standard Donaldson filters I wanted and the compact design all fits above the frame rail.

I would run the FASS for several reasons.

The FASS has better sized filter nipples for better filter choices.

The FASS quality has always been up to par.

The FASS has a fuel heater option.

The FASS has a 95 GPH option which won't outflow the filters like the 150 GPH options will.

I have looked at the fuel boss and it is a quality unit but it won't work with my fluidampr and I don't want fuel lines exposed up there.

It seemed when I was looking at AD and FASS they didn`t offer a great deal of technical info about their design. I think the most important aspect is the motor and pump design.. That being a brushless motor and gearator pump are a superior combination. BD pumps don`t have the name recognition some others have, but I can tell you they are ultra quiet and deliver consistent pressure. As for longevity?? I`ll have to wait and see, but they have a 5 year warranty as well.

I had ad150 and now have fass150 very similar design but size, fass is about 15-20% bigger so I know it will outflow ad any day if you need that much flow, biggest thing is how you get your fuel to it, I modified my fuel basket so it's all 1/2" in and out the only fitting that's factory clip in is from return of injectors and vp44. By the way I got a second generation so there is no confusion. I had customer service problem with ad so I'm using fass and I like it. If you have pressure spikes right of the bat on a new pump ad or fass, have them send you new ball and spring on return line to tank. And modifi spring a bit so the ball doesn't get stuck in it by coiling end of spring tighter in the middle.
