Truck in sig line is intermittingly not wanting the start with out moving the gear selector around a bit. I'm thinking neutral safety switch but not 100%. Anything else ?

My search of the site may have missed this topic, so if it's elsewhere, please point me in that direction. My situation is this. I have an 04 Ram 2500 4x4, 5.9 auto tranny with 170k on it. From what I can tell it's a stock truck, no extra tuning, or significant upgrades. I use it to carry around my pop-up, slide-in camper, which when loaded, is probably at 1800#. I'm pretty religious on keeping the "wear" items" (brakes, fluids, alignment . . . ) maintained. My issue is; twice now I've had the brakes over heat on steep grades. Once was while in the back country of BC (logging roads) the most recent, in the mountains of Baja (San Pedro Martir). In both cases the …

G-DAY TO ALL! i have the 04.5 Cummins and would like to uncover more facts/understanding about inj. nozzle spray angles. my inj. seem fine, but i [& perhaps you] want to sort out some questions on inj. options BEFORE i'm needing to replace. A rather expensive replacement part!! Lets do it right! as the title says, some use 03 inj. on 04.5+ eng. i'm thinking of a moderately mod.ed eng. Does any one know of a place to order a new ecu for a 2004 cummins auto. The issue started when engine would not crank due to bad batteries. I put a charger on them charged for a bit then turned it up to higher amp start. Engine cranked started then shut off. I tried to restart and engine cranks but no start condition. The gauges do it cycle to full sweep and back anymore once batt is disconnected and reconnected. I do not hear any injectors clicking anymore no grid heater heating up. No way to read dtc from dash as it is dark and not lit up anymore. Ive checked fuses,fusable links , grounds , I pinned out the harness to the ecu and there is power there and g…

Ok guys i have a 05 3500 bought new with 135000 miles on it i use truck to pull 16000lb fifth wheel travel const not a daily driver trans works fine but was wondering about updating torque converter for pre maintenance don't want it to fail on the road though maybe i could head off a problem thanks for thoughts. Last Monday I drove from Challis, ID to Kuna, ID and got 22.8 mpg! It's overall downhill but there are 2 descent grades to climb as well. My previous best was 21.5 and I've only broken 20 2 or 3 times. Normally mid 19's is excellent for this truck. It's heavy and has plenty of things to induce drag. I got full on the refill so I don't think it's a big error, and I'll have another change to try and duplicate it this fall. I did get 19.4 going the longer route two weeks ago and all of that was above 70 so it does check based on the slower speed of the shorter, but curvy, route. Avg speed for the tank was 47.0. My truck is running rough and has a miss while idling and accelerating. I have done the 3 key rotation and it is displaying 3 codes, P0521, P2146, P0201. I changed the oil pressure sensor last night hoping that would solve the one code! Thanks in advance! Any help would be appreciated!

I have recently changed my fuel filter and now the truck will not start. During this process my fuel gauge is now not working. Mine has been retrofitted with the pump in the tank . On the fuel pump relay I have 12v on pin 30 but when I try to crank no voltage at pin 85 or 86 I can jump 12v from pin 30 to 87 and the pump will run. Any help is appreciated

installed winter front on my 04, left one flap open, proceeded to drive to town, about a 12 mile trip. most up hill. anyhow about 4 miles in the temp gauge was reading 120, but the fan clutch locked up like in a high heat situation. it cooled off some, another mile or so later temps up to 140ish, again fan locks up. so after my trip to the paint store, i opened 2 more flaps, head 3 miles away to sons school, fan locks in again and tempos are just barely 180. i'm reading temps on the dash and the edge. they both read close to each other. I have heard a lot of rumors about what the dealer can activate with the Star scan tool through the CAN BUS system. I'd like to hear from people that have actually had some features turned on, not from a guy you know or what not. Actual experiences, share your year and what you had done. Hi all, First post on MoparMan's site but I have been reading this forum and many of his threads from diesel resource for quite some time. First things first a little background on the truck. The truck is a 2004.5 SLT, I do not have a lift pump it has been converted to in tank fuel pump, it's a CP3 injector pump system. I run a Edge CTS on setting 3, Timbo APPS installed last October, Transmission was rebuilt less than 2,000 miles ago, batteries were replaced at the beginning of October. Have 2005 Ram 3500, Nv5600 trans, completely rebuilt 100,000 miles ago, started jumping out of 6th gear, when decelerating, tore down, replaced 6th gear, syncronizer slider, and filled with gear oil, because recommendation for fluid is too thin, still jumping out of 6th, any recommendations????

my 08, G56, was slowing for traffic, down to about 35 mph in 3rd. then rolled into it and the clutch slipped, let off immediately, next stop i lowered my programmer to stock from 3. That said. i'm thinking after 160K my clutch has had enough. i DO NOT want to dual disk. and i'd like to keep it as quiet as i can.
