Well seasoned school bus mechanic tells me when they get somebody new changing oil it's only about 2 weeks till they stop filling up new filter with oil before threading on new filter without prefilling. Interesting part to me was no failures that he knows of. I fill mine but wondering if really necessary. Other than manual says so. Do you prefill?

I am thinking of running a 100 micron or something along those line in front of my raptor pump. I am running the standard screen that they send with the pump but I think that if I run a finer filter before the raptor that if will help keep it running quieter. Do you thing that its worth wild?

Got me a better gauge today and checked my pressure on my lift pump. Got a 0 to 30 psi gauge. On starter bump i get 14 psi.start engine and run im getting 12 psi at idle.Put truck in gear, hold brake and acelerate i run at 9 psi when really pulling hard.So I'm hoping that is good enough for my stocker around town.OH yeah! I never realized how stupid I am.I realized I have a intercooler on my truck! Duh! I was thinking it was my air conditioning condensor.Like they say sometimes you can't see the forest for the trees.

I know there are a lot of guys out here that love their oversized tires and I will admit they look super cool. Now to make it all come together and make it a rocket ship on rails you need the proper final ratio. Optimal for most daily drivers that are here optimal final ratio to the ground is 3.73:1 after the tires. The problem is any size larger than a factory 265's on 3.55 gears is going to lower the ratio. I created a chart of the final ratio with some tire sizes to see the results. Stage 2 Colt should be here tomorrow. Got all the needed replacements for my selection of leaking seals from Regional International night before last. I may end up with a haul Saturday instead of getting it done when I first planned to but either way I'm excited!I was really tempted to do RV 275s at the same time with that cheap set for sale here, but I decided to see how much difference the cam alone is going to make first. Right now the '02 isb205 has a b215 cam in it along with the p7100. details linked in my sig.

I finally am going to do the ball joints on my 2000. I have found a couple of write ups on later model trucks on CF and the like. Does anyone know any tricks or tips for my model year. I talked to a friend who did them on a 94 CTD 2500 4x4 and he said he had to engage the 4x4 before pulling the passenger side axle to prevent the linkage from falling apart???? Any way I am going to start with it tomorrow morning. ThanksChris

have been noticing a drop in power and loud engine noise from the drivers side under heavy acceleration for a month or more and started digging on the weekend. I found my boot coming off the intercooler on the drivers side has about a 3 inch slit in it caused by the inner fender. Could'nt see it until i started pushing on the boot because of the road dirt build up on it.Now just to figure out where i'm going to buy a boot

I have 150,000mile 1999 24 valve. I purchased in december and first thing i checked was lift pump, it was bad 0psi. I didn't know any better so I went to auto parts store and purchased a factory replacement one shaped different but worked. Now today was first time to put fuel and boost on truck and it shows 17-18 at idle and with cruising 2-3psi boost I am getting 15psi fuel. I laid into it in third gear and made 16psi boost and my fuel pressure went to about 8psi and jumped up as soon as i let off. Is this what everyone else is seeing? How about boost is 16psi top of third unloaded about all stock will do? Thanks guys. CD

The wife gave me the go ahead so my plans are to install RV275s, an Edge Comp, and a stealth plate. Is there anything special that I am going to have to buy to install these (ie washers, mounting hardware?) I am hoping to improve MPGs a little and make the truck more efficient. Thanks for the help

So I was finally able to make the time to install my 3 in 1 gauges from gloshift. Before you hate on gloshift, this was a gift from my daughter for Christmas. Took a little while to get it done, it was rather warm today (89°F / real feel was 95°F). I did get it finished though. I mounted the gauge in the supplied pod above the instrument cluster for easy viewing. The needle shows boost, in the small LCD screen is displays the exhaust gas temp and the fuel pressure.

Finally... I yanked out the old 1st Generation switch set... Man talk about a historic part. This is where the entire high idle started from. I'll most likely hold on to this forever. Neat to look back on history and see where we came from to where we are going. ECT Fooler (up fooled - down normal) IAT Fooler (up fooled - down normal) MPG (up) / High Idle (down) 3/6 Cylinder mode (3 cylinder up and 6 cylinder down) Now install the new Mopar1973Man High Idle Kit... I will admit so much nicer to have that plug at the switch. One wire basically to stuff through the firewall and easy to do. Takes a few minutes to install. It ac…

Finally got around to putting my Mag-hytek cover on my dana 80. It stays cooler longer with the added 1 gallon of fluid in there. It cools down way faster than with the stock cooler. I went with Red Line 75w90 a quick $150 just to put a cover on lol. Here is a pic after a 100 mile drive on pretty flat freeway.

Went out to the the truck tonite and noticed the driveway had some wetness on the ground and noticed a pretty good drip coming from my truck. I thought oh great what now. Got to looking and it was anti freeze dripping from the water pump. My first thought was great probably going to have to pull the radiator, shroud, front bumper, rear bumper, starter, tranny, and about 800 other things just to put fix the water pump. I was sure I was going to need a special dealer only tool also. Its not just a Dodge thing but seems like its always something, the manufacturers or engineers always make everything so difficult and you to have hands the size of an elf to be able to get to t…

After sitting on my shop shelf of over 5 years, I think it is FAR past time to install the Mag Hytec diff covers I bought. I went out to the garage shop and checked.......only 3 quarts of Amsoil 75W-90 left. I had some Walmart Supertech 75W-90 and 75W-140 but only 2 or 3 bottles of each. Called my local petroleum dealer and asked them if they had any and they told me they have Conoco Phillips 75W-90 and 80W-140 synthetic. http://www.matweb.com/search/datasheettext.aspx?matguid=e316b9e0fb4b46a5839e141543882fdf http://www.phillips66lubricants.com/brands-products/Single.aspx?pid=372 I am leaning towards the 80W-140. I can get both the 75W-90 or the 80W-1…

I've have a fuel leak between fass and fuel module. I'm trying to find exact location of leak. Leak is only about 3 drops per min and probably a connection, but I need to find. Is it alright to turn key on and leave it on...way after WTS light goes out? I want to keep fuel under pressure to find where drips are coming from. Thanks

I finished my fooler the day after x-mas. I managed to find a 3 position on-on-on switch for the fast idle and a project box that fit perfectly in my ashtray. My only screw-up was on the label for the "Normal" on the fast idle side (the L doesn't show). In hindsite I wish I would have gone "Normal" on the bottom, "3 Cyl." in the middle and "6 Cyl." on the top; that way both switches would have been down in the Normal position. Today was the first time I tried, even after I drove the truck to NAPA to get a headlamp for my wife's car, it fast idled with the switches in the "6 Cyl." and "123F" positions. I thought this was a one time shot at start up, but for grins I th…

I was replacing my injectors yesterday and when I took the valve cover off one of the bolts ripped the insulation and that crap went everywhere. I know some fell into the engine and I tried to wipe what I could out by number 6. How screwed am I?

Wednesday (Oct 17, 2023) we all headed out and got up to the west side of Florence ID and got to our old spot. Damn It! Our wood spot has been bone-picked. We moved to another spot on the mountain and found lots of wood but bigger-diameter trees. No biggy. So I started to back up the trailer to park it out of the way and the steering started to whine. I shut down instantly and got out and you can clearly see the fluid came out of the top cover of the steering box. Being Beast has all of Thor's tools I just simply got the right wrench. Now checking the top cover 2 bolts were loose. I snugged up the bolts and no what for fluid? DISCLAIMER: NOT A PERMANENT SOLUT…

So i got my first ever owned diesel a 1999 dodge 24v diesel w/ 235k miles on it. It has a bit of troubles here and there. Ive noticed that since I got it for such a steal of a deal so i cant complain about its troubles. But there are a few, first off from roughly 1 1/2k to 2k rpm the tranny seems to have trouble getting up and going it feels like it is slipping, the other day i had it in 4 hi and i was trying to reverse up a hill and it just felt like it was going no where the motor sounds healthy. I know this truck has a lot of power that i am not seeing because of the transmission slipping. Another thing i have encountered is my keyless entry for the truck when i press…
