was getting ready to change my 99's front pads. i have noticed the inside pad(the one with the piston on it) wears significantly faster than the outer. went to the part house and notice his screen said the pads he was selling me are 7500gvw and my truck is 8800gvw. he did not have ones listed for 8800 and when he check 1ton he also got 7500 and 10500. are the 7500 ok? i mean they fit(as its most likely what i've put in the last 2 times). rockauto.com lists a 8800 and even 8500...guess that kinda answers that question. ---------- Post added at 03:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:10 PM ---------- it seems some places have 8800gvw as only 4X4. they look s…

Gents, I replaced my front u-joint at the pinion yoke a few months back. I was in the process of installing my posi lock when I noticed I had another problem??‍♂️.... The caps on that u joint fell out. Does anyone have a spicer part number? I have also attached a picture from my buddies 01 and it has a different yoke that retains the caps. I cannot seem to get a definitive answer for the correct u joint. So so far I think I need a spicer 5-7437x but I am still not for certain. Anyone have any ideas? Also, I’m not opposed to switching over to another brand.

I just notice I have a bad leak coming from my inspection place on bell housing. I am thinking front pump torque converter seal. Any ideas ? Transmission shop says they have problems with torque converter cracking at shaft? And help would be great. Thanks

Does anyone know if the front brace (held on by 2 bolts on each side) is only for manual seats? I have power seats (driver and passenger side) in the truck. The truck came with a spare set as well which the passenger side is manual and it is the only seat with the front brace. It’s located right behind where the bar is to release the latch on the manual seat. Maybe to create stiffness for the manual pins to release?

I need someone smarter than me. I feel like I'm playing jeopardy. The answer is - when driving in 3rd gear or od front servo pressure is 55-60 until I just back off the throttle slightly then it drops to 22. Until you Rev it up then pressure goes to 55 and away I go. All the other pressures check out just fine. Tried disconnecting the tv cable and then holding the tv cable at part throttle. Didn't help. When I manually shift into second pressure drops to 0. What do I check? What causes the front servo to engage or dis engage? Sorry to be a pest, I'm just scratching my head.

  7. Figured I would throw this out there. I have had a funny delayed almost slipping type 2-3 shift the past few months and have been giving the 02 a front to rear service and check over and tune up. I pulled the tranny pan and the last couple times it has been loaded with metal and friction material. been that way the last 3 times actually so I have been waiting for the death of it but it keeps hanging in there with 131K of abuse.Back to the story well I adjusted the rear band all was ok there put pan on filled with new amsoil and then went about the PITA front band adjustment which is when I figured out where all the material is coming from. I adjust it every 30K or so when…

Well i bought my 2001 dodge 2500 quad cab 4x4 about 1.5 months ago and have already replaced lift pump, vp44, and radiator clean from puck bottle. Last night i was in my way home and front wheel bearing went out, dang near lost a wheel, that was another $300.00 for a part. so i checked thr other side it was good and i will change it in a couple months due to money, any way took the other side aprt to check and grease the brakes pins and guess what no pin bushings on one side and dry as a bone with almost new pads. I don't understand how people think there mechanics and not do the job correct. Now the question the abs light came on when the bearing came apart and now the l…

Sorry if this has been discussed before but I tried searching and nothing came up. I hear the front wheel bearing humming so time to replace them. I've replaced them once already with Detroit Axle units so I'm wondering what brand everyone has had luck with?? '01 2wd abs with drums in the rear. Thanks for any input fellas & have a great weekend

I recently performed my first rotor swap on my 98.5 2500. I pounded out the wheel studs with a single hit of a 5lb sledge. Easily came out. I swapped the wheel bearing assy over to the new rotors. Used same sledge to set the studs back in the same wheel bearing housing. A few studs did not want to set back in place flush. I whacked ‘em a few times and carried on. Thinking I’d pull ‘em right thru when I torqued the lug nuts up at wheel installation. Well I’m still cranking a few nuts tight. I’ve been test driving and get a slight vibration when braking. I have driven, braked and got hubs warm, then retorqued 3X. Seems I am almost there as the vibration is imp…

Is there an advantage to using synthetic axle lube when changing the fluid? Can I use one grade of fluid in both front and rear axles for simplicity. I don't believe that I have the limited slip rear axle.

Hi everyone. I just installed a Pureflow FRRP-100 on my 01 Dodge 2500. It works great so far. My question is my kit didn't come with a relay for the pump. The instructions say to plug it into the factory harness. I would like your opinion, should I install a relay or will it be ok?

  14. Truck is at operating temperature, although what I describe below happens while starting at cold temp. I installed the FRRP-100 last weekend and set the pressure to 19.0-19.5psi at idle. Notice the normal initial 2 sec run at ~21.5 psi. After starting, it runs at ~15.5 psi for 15 sec and then jumps to 16 psi - finally it jumps to 19 psi and the engine sound different. Coincidently the ScanGauge 2 comes on at the same time. Is this a function of Open vs. Closed loop of the VP44? Is this a function of the ECM? Thank you.

I screwed up and orderd the 17.5" 4 in 5 out. Oh well it's not straight through like the areo turbine si hopefully it reduced drone. Snagged a pick. I cut the 5" slip fit end off the aero to use as a joint to make fte longer. Along with a 5" 51" muffler that someday I'll find time to put on our kenworth. I'm expecting no huge reduction from the little fte will most likely later ad a muffler behind it. Something smaller than the 51" Donaldson type muffler. Reworking down pipe hanger to get exhaust off the frame so later I can fit a muffler.

Check this one out. Looks like it would be cheaper than 2 stroke and lube even better than XDP. http://opti-lube.com/diesel-fuel-improver/xl-diesel-fuel-improver/diesel-fuel-improver-xl.html http://opti-lube.com/downloads/intertektesting.pdf

I found this on another web site... I copied as it was posted and brought it here... The following are the preliminary results of a research study on diesel fuel Lubricity Additives. There is likely to be further commentary and explanation added at a future time. PURPOSE: The purpose of this research was to determine the ability of multiple diesel fuel additives to replace the vital lubricity component in ULSD (Ultra Low Sulfer Diesel) fuel. HISTORY: ULSD fuel is the fuel currently mandated for use in all on road diesel engines. This fuel burns cleaner and is less polluting than it’s predecessor, called Low Sulfer Diesel Fuel. Low sulfer fuel con…

Now I got one for all you to look at now... Go over to my MSDS page and check out all the fuel additives... Look at the MSDS listings. Remember if its toxic and can't be eaten or drank it should be listed. These listing are for emergency personal to know how to handle say a fire, poisoing, etc.Now that you looked at MSDS sheets now go over and look at the chemical listings. I've got most of the CAS# numbers and alternate names now for most chemicals. :?: QUESTIONS :?: _____________________________________________________________________________________Now tell me how many products do you see here that are lubricants??? :?: Now tell me how many are cetane boosters??? …

Well I got my ISSPRO 3 gauge pack in and I got it installed. I ran into some problems but gave Michael a call and he helped me sort some things out that I wasn't paying attention to. I ran out of time at my shop and daylight but went on a test drive at the airport and Airdog 150 is holding rock solid 18psi at idle and 15.5psi WOT in 4th gear pull. I am also pulling 21psi peak boost on my stock truck and I think that is pretty good. All in all I am really happy with the Airdog and the ISSPRO gauges. I will try to finish up the EGT and lights and maybe a video if any one is interested tomorrow. Thanks again Mike!

  20. AirDog Draw Straw installation You will need a 15mm socket and 1/2 ratchet for the bands on the tank. You'll also need a flat blade screwdriver, hammer, floor jack, and a ratchet strap. The way I remove the fuel tank is to place the jack under the tank just to support the weight. Then wrap a ratchet strap around the fuel tank and hook it to the jack pivot pin. Tighten the strap lightly not enough to crush the tank. You need to take a screwdriver and hammer and lightly tap on the sender ring and loosen the ring up to allow the sender to stand up out of the fuel tank. No need to unhook any lines leave that alone for now. Now using a 15mm socket you can remove the two nu…
