Hello, My truck is a late 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins 24 valve with 250xxx. I live in the middle of Minnesota. Just to make everyone aware. I have had an issue with the truck since ownership, that every year my fuel gells up at least once. Last year was the worst, I think like 3 times. Had to use a nip cone and a bunch of cardboard to get the fuel thawed enough to start. I use diesel fuel additives year round (white and gray bottles), and generally more in the winter, including walmart brand 2 stroke oil TCW3 year round. I have the Fass DDRP with relocation kit on the frame just in front of the tank, with the Beans Diesel sump kit…

I've been reading up on every topic remotely close to the VP44 and fuel system for the last month. Lost my lift pump and sender unit same time which apparently blew my VP. So...100% stock 2001 6-speed...buy a new VP and decide on a FASS Titanium95. I read all the reviews but frankly the horse trailers and 5th wheels aren't a problem in these desert mountains (digression). Have FSM, did install last weekend of both. Removed old filter canister and bracket (no going back, I shaved the bolts to match the others with no bracket) and removed old pump. Fuel line is just hanging. Taped and sealed each of the three connectors, then taped them together, then zip tied t…

I have the Haines manual and the downloaded factory service manual for this 1999 Ram 3500. The two publications contradict each other on the setting of the nut for the rear wheel bearings. the factory manual states to back off the nut 1/8 of a turn after torquing to 120-140 ft lbs and the Haines manual says to back off 1/3 of a turn. I went with the factory manual and backed off 1/8 of a turn. One hub runs warmer that the other. Any advice. Thanks

Thank you. Your message about wiring a relay in the circuit for the lift pump saved my ecm. Yesterday I lost fuel pressure and the auto reset breaker got so hot it stuck in the on position. I couldn't hold it in my hand. I can't imagine what this would have done to the ECM. IMHO all should wire a relay in the circuit to the lift pump. Thanks again.

hey all. i dont usually have any question on working on these engines, but today im a little puzzled. i changed the stock lift pump on my 2001 with a raptor 100. i had this lift pump on my other 2001, but i just got that one an air dog 150. anyhow, ive changed lift pumps/filters on these trucks 20+ times and have done the bleeding procedure as anyone would. crack lines 1,3,4 bump a couple times till you get some fuel, crank until air is gone and fuel is clear, close lines, start. today after i got done finishing my lift pump install i did just as i stated and i was getting some fuel/air from all three. line 4 started to get good fuel and it was acting like it w…

IS IT COMPLICATED JOB TO DROP VALVE BODY AND INSTALL 3-4 ACCUMULATOR I installed a new Goerend/ Dynotec Transmission last February as some of you may have noticed in my sig. It works Great except I've noticed that it shifts into 4th gear Hard. So i figured it was probably just settling in where it was new and may just need adjustment later on and i had gotten busy with business and other things so i just kinda put it off till later and see if it got better, i was running highway when i did drive it so no big deal, well lately I've been riding it around local and its become a PITA. So i Called Ken at DYNOTEC and asked him about it and he insured me it is an e…

Yeap... The old VP44 gave up. Timing is stuck in full advancement rattle very hard and very little power. P0216 code is present. I pulled the Quadzilla and still present so I know the problem it's not Quadzilla related. It hits a state of limp mode won't power more than 40 MPH. At times it will clear up and run well then the timing goes back to full advancement pull the power way down. I did make it home but very slow ride. I can say without a doubt the Quadzilla only reports commanded timing, not actual timing. Time to make some calls to DAP in the morning...

Got my studs in the mail today! Popped it open to look it over... I have a couple questions. Instructions say to chase the threads. Where can I get a chaser? Auto parts store? Do any of our studs protrude into the water jackets? Should I use Loctite? The studs are hand tightened, then the "Nuts" are torqued? Says to incrementally torque in three steps and make a final torque to 125 ft. lbs. What do I make the first 2 rounds for in torque? Also included is an illustration showing that I have to machine the rocker cover at stud 24, is this necessary? Anything else I need to know about installing these? (D'oh! Just realized I said AEP not ARP.…

I asked this on a few other boards, but figured I would ask here also. I bought my Cummins about a month ago, It drove perfect. The motor is stock, and I had thought the transmission had been rebuilt at some point due to how nice it shifted and how much cleaner the transmission was comapaired to everything else under the truck. Not long after I got the truck, I desided to check the fuel pressure. I bought a cheap-o oil guage from the parts house and used one of the test ports on top of the fuel filter housing. Well My lift pump is only putting out 10psi at idle, and Zero at WOT. So I figured i would take it over to my father house to park it. (more space) Its a 5 mile tri…

Can anyone offer a suggestion as to why my fuel mileage is so poor, I have played with several different tunes on my quadzilla and still can’t get over 14 on the highway. I’m running 35 in tires. I’ve heard it could be injection pump but it was replaced not to long ago and it’s been running great so it’s hard to believe that’s the problem. I’m also on stock injectors

Hi all, So I have a new Valair single disc clutch with all new components, and new OE hydros from Napa. I have about 1000 miles on the hydros and 550 on the clutch. Today I noticed that sometimes, as I'm slowly letting up on the clutch pedal, it feels like it is sticking or binding kind of. It is only minor and only when I let the pedal out very slowly, which I normally do, and even then its not all the time. Its like it will just kind of hang up slightly then let go and release more quickly than I want it to. I am sure the clutch and components are installed correctly as I and my dad did it together and we are both pretty competent in this area. We also had the help…

Just wanted to share a dead pedal experience. One March 19, 2018, during a return trip from Crescent City pulling my travel trailer, I exerienced the dead pedal syndrome about fifteen times in the last 35 miles to home. Each event lasted about 20 seconds (sometimes longer). It was a slow 35 miles, but the truck made it home. At this time the truck had logged a total of 289,000 miles with 202,000 miles on the VP44. The check engine light came on and stayed on and code P0121 ( Accelerator Position Sensor Signal Voltage Too Low) was set. I was hoping that I could replace the APPS and the problem would be resolved. I went on-line to Blue Ch…
