ok so here is whats happening about a year ago I had oil leaking from in between the power steering pump and the vacuum pump so I replaced the seal and it fixed it and it did not leak at all for about six months. In January it started leaking again so I got another seal kit from Cummins and just did it over the weekend and started it up and no leaks had it running a little bit ago and the thing is leaking again. Anybody have any ideas I am tired of it leaking oil everywhere. I guess I should also note that I replaced the power steering pump the first time when I put new seals in it. Any help would greatly appreciated...

1998.5 dodge ram 2500 24v leaks tons of oil out of the breather tube, truck runs great and gets great fuel economy, oil does not smell like diesel and doesn't gain oil, it loses a ton, so far in 2500 miles I've lost almost 3 gallons, making sure to keep it up. Very odd considering how well the truck runs. I've seen someplace it could be something to do with vacuum leaks? Any insight?

  3. Looking at this problem appears to be a real pain to access in order to replace a simple gasket.I grew up doing my own repairs on gas engines, & don't know enough about diesels. I have learned from running out of fuel, how to bleed the system quickly. My main concern is do I have to remove the injection pump in order to do this, or is it possible to replace the gasket with the pump in place? Removing the pump scares me,because it went bad & was replaced 6 yrs.ago costing me $3,600 bucks! The shop replaced it but had to take it to a dodge dealer to time & calibrate it with the ecm,& that Cummins couldn't even do it cause Chrysler had changed the codes & …

I was under the truck today for other reasons and turns out my slave cylinder is leaking! I know they're easy to replace, and relatively cheap at NAPA, but has anyone else had this happen? Seems so strange for the slave to start leaking, but then again the truck is mad it's been sitting...

Hey everyone,My truck has developed a transmission line leak. It is from the fitting on the drivers side transmission line. (Looking up at it) I will try to post a pic. Anyways, I've read that those fittings suck, and was wondering if I can just replace it with regular transmission line and a hose clamp? Is there an o ring in these fittings that let go or are they just notorious for leaking. Any help would be great thanks.

Damn. Recently pressurewashed and thoroughly degreased my engine. Yea, I know once the engine is squeaky clean this the best way to spot leaks. So, I have an oil leak where the vac pump / ps pump flange mounts to the rear of the timing case. Dammit! Hard to get to. Has anyone taken this assembly off to change the gasket & resolve an oil leak? My first gen has a leak in the SAME EXACT area. I tried to remove the assy on that truck and ended up frustated. I'm not fixing this issue on the old first gen, but my 02 is one sweet truck so I'm inclined to fix and keep it clean. Any tips or step by steps? Picture attached. (picture taken while i was …

I decided to have my shop install my rv275's and gould vac pump reseal kit... hoping that I could avoid tearing anything apart myself since this is the busy time of year for work. But now that my fuel and oil leaks are fixed... another oil leak has presented itself behind the motor, I believe from the valve cover. I gave them a brand new gasket from Geno's to install when they did the injectors. I am thinking they must have just not seated the gasket properly as it never leaked there before. Instead of wasting the time (and oil) driving it back to the shop, I want to do this myself. I recently read something about the newer trucks having something interlaced through the g…

I've have a 1999 Cummins with 111k and have owned for almost 8 months and temperatures are starting to go down some here in north Texas and I new to owning a diesel I have down all the main things recommended for the 24v. I drive my truck as a daily driver and gave some fun in it and now with the temps dropping I have heard its normal if truck white smokes little to none in the morning when first started for about 1 min and clears up. Truck to seems to run fine and today when setting at Idle I noticed if I normally give it some gas while sitting parked a little smog of black smoke comes out but today it seemed to be white but it's only when I give it some gas while sitti…

I made up my mind, I installed the Glow Shift Blue LED Gauges. I had the first fuel sender go flaky in a weeks time even with the needle valve cracked. So I got a new one from GS and they told me to buy this snubber http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ATM-3279/. So now I have the needle valve and the snubber. Here are some pics, combo EGT and boost on left, and Fuel pressure on right.

  11. Well today I had made a stop at the local fast food place for lunch...a mistake I guess. I came out and started the truck and she idled for a couple minutes..gave a shudder and shut down..no re start. Will crank but no start. I replaced the transfer pump w/fass a year ago. Acts like she's not getting fuel. What is in the tank on these? just a fuel gauge and fuel pick up? The transfer pump is running but I am wondering about the "draw straw" that I have heard about. Do they go bad, break off, What should my next step be? Thanks in advance. Randy

Pictures will come later as they are buried in my phone but its really simple. As a disclaimer, use common sense, see what other things i've got done to my truck and take that into consideration before you do this. I am not responsible or liable for anything that happens. For what its worth i am working with a stock truck. No "real" mods or upgrades.. You will need- 1- Eye bolt (with 2 nuts and 1 washer) (i think 1/4 inch is what fits through the old wastegate holes) home depot for less than 5 bucks 1- extension spring from napa part# 7704099 (balkamp) about 2 or 3 dollars 1- 1/8 pipe plug to plug hole in turbo compressor housing lef…

Where is the low power? I've been pondering this. Turbo upgrade? Diff gears? ECM mod? You get to a point when all forms and info get so jumbled you forgot what you are looking for. I don't tow much, some, but not much. I want that tire burning diesel action when I feel the need to use it. I can get about 35 lbs of boost with my setup, which is good, egts climb to the 1500s at Wot( rarely at Wot) . Little worried about that. From what I read my Hx35w (54/60/12) is a good turbo, but a 60/60/12 or 62/68/12 would spool faster. But would that rip the tires loose? If so what is the right turbo internal …

  15. SO as some of you may have seen, I bought a new truck, 2000 with a 47re, problem is it only goes backwards! So here's the story: Kid I bought it from bought it about a year ago from the original owner to, and I quote, "to roll coal and do burnouts" and he did just that, and it took the tranny with it... kinda. It started out he said slipping a bit, so do what most people would do when they're trying to sell their truck and tranny starts slipping, burnouts! Couple burnouts later it wouldnt go above 25mph, so he took it to a buddies and they put more atf in it, I don't know why, and magically it doesn't move forward any after they did that, and here I sit. …

What is the 'average' life-cycle for an injector to operate properly? I realize there are hundreds of variables to take into account, but "on average", is it 100k mi? 120k? 150k?I'm starting this, due to the fact that I'm chasing down an issue with my truck, and ramhunter9 (Dave) and I spoke about this yesterday, for about 30 minutes or so.My truck has 180,000 on it, as of last weekend. Finally put a Bhaf on the truck, but now with straight pipe 4” (outlet currently under the truck, no tip), no silencer ring (does the ring create any congestion?) and a bhaf, it is just getting too loud. Contemplating whether I need just a muffler, just a resonator, a combo resonator/turbo (Jones/aeroturbine) or a separate resonator (under the cab) and a big muffler further back. thoughts/experience?

  18. Alrighty straight to the Chase I'm sick and tired of my nv I know its going out just don't know when. I've decided on what I want to do but need more info that what i can find. I want to swap in an eaton 8ll as that was the tranny I grew up loving in the old dump truck we used as a grain truck. It's what is familliar and its an eaton. But I'm open to suggestionsMy problem is how in the heck I'm going to mount that big sob. What transfer case to use? What clutch and flywheel? Bellhouseing? Is there a kit somewhere? Then once it is in how to convert my clutch? Get one out of the donor truck and fab it up? What is my cruising speed going to be in 8 at 1800 rpm?I have 353 gea…

  19. Hi Cummins Mopar Fans, Just wanted to give an update on my auto to 6 speed swap. I couldn't be happier. First off, I had everyone on here giving me things to try over the last eight (8) years to help me get my automatic problems solved, gear hunt fix, something like 6 altenators, ground cleaning, let alone hundreds of hours researching trying to find a cure. I want to thank Whie98Lightning for suggesting a swap after he sent me a diagram for the TC lockup switch. Mine even wanted to hunt w the switch on. Like he told me & I agree, that (the switch) was the only thing I could do to keep driving the truck. Also, all the deap pedal issues are gone, the truck seem…

Hey Everyone, Currently in the market to lift my truck to get a little more clearance and also to put larger wheels on. I went to my local store and they’re pushing a rough country 3” lift, which replaces 4 control arms and the other option I was interested in was the skyjacker 2.5” lift with only 2 control arms being replaced. I’ve heard negative things about rough country, but I can’t find any substantial evidence online besides them being on the cheaper side of lifts. Does anyone have any experiences? Additionally, with this lift I will add a dual steering stabilizer and a steering gearbox brace to try to correct for a drift at 70m…
